Fast and responsive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love it the screen is amazing, its fast and responsive, its super thin, love the cord plug its small, the speakers neresponsive tunning but once its adjusted thru the eq , it sounded great, installed and used lightroom photoshop and premiere much fast than the 13 inch model. The extra ram helps a lot, too bad its nit expandable to 32,

Nice looking, poor performance
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After only 1:50 hours with 50% of brightness, the battery died, in the specs the battery life states 9-11 hours, maybe it was a bad battery but I will not buy it again despite, i like the design

Complicated
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In the first month of ownership, I was on the phone, chat or in for Geek Squad service continually. Not always the computer at fault, sometimes Windows 10, but I had more than my share of hassles for a brand new computer.

So light!! I love it.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm an author and don't have a traditional office, I write in a recliner on my laptop, so comfort and ease is key. This time around, I was looking for lightweight, and I found it in this. It's so light, I love this huge. The screen quality is amazing, the keyboard is nice. I do kind of miss the 10-key, but only on the rare occasion I'm typing numbers. I gave up a disc drive for lightness, and I don't know yet if I'll miss that, but right now I'd say it's worth it. I balked a little at more money for less computer (no disc drive and less hard drive) but a computer guru friend of mine swore by the SSD concept of giving up a little storage for less moving parts and better speed. It is super fast, and I do store the bulk of things online, so I'm not too worried about space. The only negative thing I have to mention, if I could take a half point away, is that it gets very hot. Like uncomfortably hot, when you're working on it in your lap. I work for hours at a time, and I try to make sure it's well ventilated, but it still gets really hot. I don't know if that's because of the different hard drive.... But that's minor, compared to all the good that is this laptop. I recommend it.

Excellent Laptop; Highly Recommend
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an excellent laptop that is exactly what I was looking for. I was going between this device, the 13 inch Spectre X-360, the Samsung Notebook 9 Spin, and the Lenovo Yoga 900, and I think this is definitely the right choice for me. First of all, the 4K screen on this laptop looks amazing. It does have some glare, but turning the brightness all the way up does help to mitigate that. As far as the keyboard goes, I have no complaints. The keys are clicky, and I am able to type quickly with minimal errors. In bright conditions, I also prefer to leave to lighting on the keys off, but if it is darker I really like the look and the added contrast that the lighted keys offers. It also has convenient controls for volume, skipping tracks, brightness, and keyboard lighting. I enjoy typing on this keyboard and have no complaints about it. My favorite part about this laptop is the performance. With a Core i7, 16gb of RAM, and a SSD, I would expect great performance, and this machine certainly delivers on that expectation. In my own performance test, I had Android Studio, Microsoft Visual Studio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and 5 Chrome tabs open, and I didn't notice any slowdowns. Additionally, all of this only used 7.9 out of the 16 gb of RAM that this laptop has. You can be sure that you will not have any performance issues at all if you use this laptop. I did not test it with gaming or video work, but I would think that given how it handled those previous applications, it could handle some games or video work as well. The large trackpad is nice as well. I like how I can easily navigate with it without having to work very hard to find it. I find it much easier to navigate with this large trackpad than it is on other laptops that I have used. The speakers sound nice, but not amazing. I with they sounded slightly more powerful given that they are top-firing, but truthfully if I am trying to listen to something important I put headphones in anyway. I opened the Bang and Olufsen sound control app and increased the bass, which made a positive difference to the sound as well. Lastly, there is tablet mode. I mainly use tablet mode to watch video, either on YouTube or Netflix, which is handles well. I had to change some setting to make the taskbar go away during full screen video, but once that was taken care of it worked perfectly. I also purchased the Dell Active Stylus for 14.99 on Amazon to use with OneNote for handwritten notes. This works very well, and will be useful in college next year. Overall, this laptop is exactly what I was looking for, and I don't have any complaints about it at all. I highly recommend it for someone who is looking for a high performance, convertible Windows 10 machine that has a great screen, nice keyboard, portable design, and performance to handle the tasks you need to get done.

Recommended by Best Buy staff, very disappointing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Supposed to be a fast, powerful, "awesome" machine. Not so much. It is somewhat faster than my 6 year old HP, in some situations. I have a list of 14 problems, none of which have been resolved after 4 hours on the phone and online with Geek Squad, and 24 hours with in-store Geek Squad. Some of the problems are likely settings or software, but I would have thought those would be relatively easy to fix. I am very disappointed.

Fail to Boot
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had purchased open box laptop. It looks to be a good deal however when I took it with me to home. I ran into problems. After the 1st boot it would not boot up again. I don't know why, maybe it was just a bad apple, this maybe why it was returned. I returned it to Best Buy with no hassles, glad for that. Then I bought a another laptop at Best Buy!

Had this laptop/all-in-one for one day
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Used for a couple hours before half the touch screen stopped working. Sent to HP for repair where it has been for going on 3 weeks. This is the second all in one I have purchased that had major issues just after purchase. I believe my next purchase I will go back to a regular laptop and definitely not an HP based on the continual delays with HP service.

Phenomenal Laptop and Tablet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been on Macbook Pros for the last 10 years, used PC's previously, but had not been getting the longevity Mac was known for out my machines. Decided to switch to the Spectre as an alternative in the interest of cost/value and am incredibly happy with my choice. The 4k screen is as close to the retina display as you can get, and I have certainly appreciated the added bonus of the touch display and tablet features -- incredibly crisp and responsive. I am looking forward to getting the stylus as well and testing it's performance. THe i7 processor and 16gb of RAM make this thing execute anything I've put it through, and it multi tasks with ease. The trackpad could be more responsive, it is a shortcoming in comparison to the Macbook Pro, but I have found this to be a PC wide problem and like this one much better than many I have seen.

Great laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My problem here is the credit card where you get 10% back. Let me worn you that you do not, because you get it in 10% back in "Best Buy Rewards Points". Which means is you get phoney money worth less than half of your real money. So instead of 10% you get 5% or less. Not happy at all with my purchase of my laptop.

Worst laptop I've bought
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop broke within the first 6 days of purchase due to the hard plastic pieces that are there to protect the screen from hitting the keyboard. I tried to return to the she but was told i would have to use the protection plan ($220) and then Re purchase the plan again. I am going to place a complaint worth HP.

Misinformed about warranty
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The computer is great but the screen broke before the one year warranty expired so I called best buy and was told the screen was not covered. Found out that was a lie or mistake. Now the computer is almost unusable.

You should buy this laptop...truly astounding.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a critic, a little OCD, perfectionist and if I have to spend money on something I hope for a great quality product that will last a long time. I have had a 17.3 Hp Pavilion dv7 2009 model that has lasted me 8 years. I didn't want to purchase another laptop but it finally decided to croak for good. After days of research I came upon this and was thrilled to get it during a Christmas sale for $1000. - REVIEW - This laptop is truly amazing in every area imaginable. Period. The audio, build quality, 4k display, the touch screen, the track pad, user interface, battery life, portability, you name it. Hp has made it incredibly hard for me to find a single flaw with this laptop. The only flaw, if this is even considered one, is that the cover gets a little dirty and shows smears from finger prints occasionally. Overall I recommend this a 100x and hope it stands the test of time as well as my previous Hp did. Now go buy one and stop researching. You've found your laptop. Trust me.

Excellent "Does it all" Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent Windows alternative to my MacBook Pro & better value than the Surface Book in my view; if you can get by without dedicated graphics. Folding Hinge: - this is a key reason to buy this. It's lighter that a 15" MacBook Pro, and it's so thin you can just flip the screen and have a comfortable tablet. You can prop it on a table in a "V" configuration, and it's also great with the keyboard folded under in an "L" if you want to sit on the couch or chair and use it as a touchscreen. Screen is excellent: - great touch sensitivity and control - fantastic resolution and sharpness - viewing angles are great - default color calibration is slightly cool but you can get a pretty good calibration out of it if you tweak it (haven't tried calibration hardware, and I'm not sure if it can do pro-level calibration for photo or print work) - pen is available for drawing (haven't tried it yet) Performance: - keeping up with design software no problem. I can use Autodesk Fusion CAD, Rhino, Affinity Designer, Photoshop, Lightroom, SketchBook, etc....just fine. Feels smooth; great memory and hard disk performance. - Can do basic to intermediate jobs on realtime rendering, but doesn't have the dedicated GPU you need for heavy duty work or if you need pro-level render speed. Keyboard: - much prefer the HP to my MacBook Pro keys (w/scissor mechanism). These keys aren't as floppy as Mac; They feel tight, spring really well, have a nice sound, and typing feels really fast with a good throw. Trackpad: - Very good trackpad. Feels good, and responds to gesture very well. Clicking seems to require a little bit too much pressure to me and the click sound isn't as good as Mac. I have some issues with the Mac trackpads too, so I call it a wash. Software: - No crashes in the first week, not much extra junk software, fast boot time - Was able to install some older windows xp and windows 7 software in compatibility mode and with older C++ distributables downloaded - Some older verions of photoshop and other programs aren't compatible with text scaling, so the UI in them is almost unusably tiny if you keep the computer at high resolution. Nothing you can do, but upgrade to software that supports UHD screens and text scaling Audio - Has Bang & Olufsen, but it's nothing special. Just decent laptop sound. Kinda weird that if you fold it back and use it as a touchpad the sound is coming from underneath so it sounds a little muffled. Build Quality: - really great build quality. 98% Mac level build. Design attention to detail is very good. The design is growing on me and it feels a little more "modern" than my Mac Power Cord: - The brick is tiny (smaller than Mac) which is really nice. It has a fold down plug and the cord wraps up easily with a velcro wrap. - The cord is pretty short though, and that's annoying. It needs 2 more feet. - I prefer the MagSafe Mac power plug, but the HP plug is in a nice location on the left side and it keeps in snugly. Ports and Buttons: - all ports snap in tight, and you've got a good set of functionality - audio rocker is nice, and I like the power button on the side a lot more than they power keyboard key on a Mac. Overall: - Love this computer. Enjoy working on it more than my MacBook and it's a much better value with the touchscreen and foldable capabilities. You can get an awful lot of pro level mileage out of this laptop, so if you need more the next step is probably a workstation.
