Customers often highlight the responsive touch screen, strong performance, and lightweight design of the Spectre x360 2-in-1 laptop. Positive feedback also frequently mentions the long battery life and fast SSD. However, some users note that the laptop can get warm during use and that the fan can be noisy at times. You get what you buy with this laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop for my daughter and it was great at the begin and then slowed down and she is unable to use it any more. I would not say this is the worst buy but if I for sure do more research before I purchase a laptop again.

Worst hp product I've ever bought
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop because my 17.5 inch hp envy crashed and needed to be sent of to weak squad city and still hasn't come back yet. I bought the spectra and within two days it called for an update. I downloaded the update and the computer crashed and had to be taken back to bestbuy, within the first week of owning it! Best Buy couldn't tell me what the issue was. So I had my money refunded and bought a mac book pro from apple. I love my new mac book and will never buy another hp product ever again. Two hp laptops ruined multiple weeks of work for me. I'm done with hp.

Not as good as Yoga 720, but still nice
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I got the HP Spectre x360 15" 2017, and after fully testing it, returned it to get the Yoga 720 15" 2017. Straight out of the box, the Spectre has a 25% brighter screen, but it turns out that is only because when it comes from the factory, the Yoga is set up to adjust the brightness for the environment, and no matter how you set the brightness level, it only gets to 75% brightness, so you have to go into the settings and unclick that box. Both computers have processors and video chips that are fast enough to handle Avid video editing and DaVinci Resolve at full HD. I didn't test the Spectre at 4k. The pen that comes with the Spectre isn't as good for drawing as the Bamboo Ink stylus. But even using the Bamboo, the Spectre wasn't as sensitive as the Bamboo was with the Yoga. For those of you who are used to using a Cintiq with Photoshop or After Effects, I'll say that this screen is pretty good, but you can't turn the Bamboo over and use it as an eraser, and I really miss the quick access buttons and sliders. Being entirely wire free is awesome, but the both the spectre and the Yoga are slightly too heavy for really comfortable drawing at some angles - like if you are laying back and have the computer on an angle so the corner is jabbing into your stomach. Drawing in Photoshop with both computers I found that the touch screen/pen combination had me touching things I didn't mean to touch on occassion. The screens on both computers came from the factory with a slight warm tint which makes skin tones look more attractive, but for professional imaging work, you can adjust the colors in about 5 minutes to truer colors. Processing power.- both will get the job done for just about anything you can want, but the Yoga was clearly faster. So if you're doing a lot of After Effects or color correction, I'd go with the Yoga. Battery life. I tested both by playing youtube videos. This , I figured is more typical use - the processing power for youtube doesn't need to spin up the Nvidia graphics chips, so the additional drain of the more powerful chip in the Yoga doesn't come into play. For both computers I had the keyboard backlight on high for an hour included as part of the test. The Yoga lasted 4hrs15min, and the Spectre lasted 5hrs45 minutes with screens at full brightness. So neither will last you all day unless you dim the screen and are doing something less tasking like word processing. Sound - the Spectre has the speakers facing up towards the user while the Yoga has them facing down. I thought that this would result in far better sound for the Spectre, but I was wrong. The small speakers don't reproduce low frequencies very well. The Yoga takes advantage of resonating off your desk to achieve those low frequencies for a more fuller sound. But if you have it on your lap, your results will differ significantly. So depending on how you use your device, the yoga will be much better or much worse. A serious consideration for choosing between the two is the accessory ports. The Spectre has only one regular usb, so if you have a lot of external drives and other devices, you won't be able to use them without adapters. The connections it comes with may be the bomb in the future, but right now, there aren't a lot of devices with those connections. So overall, the spectre is prettier and the batteries last longer, but is not as good for serious work.

Terrible for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For a $1500 laptop you'd expect it to not heat up on your lap. I had gone through two and decided this is not the laptop for me. It is gorgeous but not worth the money.

Was not as good as claimed!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased my first X360 Feb 1-5 2017. Had pretty much maxed out specs and then the mouse pad pointer began to freeze. Then the pointer would jump all over the place when typing. Returned it and got a second X360 (same specs) around Feb 16- 18. And what happens? The exact same problem (s) as the previous X360. I then contact HP techs directly and after removing in, it was determined that there are hardware issues. Therefore I returned and got my money back. My specs were as follows. X360- Ash Silver-4K - 512SSD - 16GB- i7 7500- 15.6in. Ser#(I will follow up with both serial# later).

Only worked for 3 weeks
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this laptop 3 weeks ago. Totally died, with blue screen repeatedly. Trying to do "Recovery". Died in the middle of that. Now saying can't be repaired. Best Buy passed 15 days, won't let me return or exchange. Contacted HP. They are sending me a repair media kit. Wait and see.

Everything i could want and more
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had previously purchased a Dell Inspiron 2 in 1 laptop before this, and i thought i was getting an excellent computer at $1000, but there were always things that bothered me like the hard drive being loud and etc. So i eventually exchanged it for this one. So far this computer looks fantastic, has a great screen, performs well and gives me everything i could want in a computer. The SSD makes no noise at all, and the load and save times are almost non-existent. It is also very light. One downside is that is shows fingerprints well, but it looks fantastic with gold accents.

Lasted 2 days
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop and choose the high end Spectre thinking this is one of the better HP products and that it would have higher quality. Within two days of bringing it home the screen stays black and it doesn't even boot. The only thing I had time to do before it crapped out was update it, add virus protection and download microsoft office. Guess i'm out the $100 for installing the software. This computer is going back and will not purchase another Spectre, If you do buy make sure to get the Geek Squad protection plan !!!

Awesome Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently upgraded to this from a 7 year old macbook pro. Since its hard to compare new technology to that I'll compare this to the desktop I built earlier this year. My desktop runs an i6 6600K, gtx 980ti, 16gb ddr4, and an asus maximus viii just to give a little reference. I originally wanted to buy an xps 15 and honestly knew nothing of this computer until I visited the best buy near me. The gorgeous design of the spectre is what drew me to it initially. I was surprised to see a 2 in 1 with a 4K display and with nvidia graphics and an I7 kaby lake for this price so I was immediately intrigued. After playing with it for a little while I fell in love with the beautiful display. Now for performance. This thing starts up even faster than my PC, which I was very happy with before getting the spectre. Even the most CPU intensive programs start up in mere seconds and I have experienced only the slightest of delays when switching between programs and using various functions within them. I also really like the functionality of having a 2 in 1. the transition is seamless and the tablet mode is easy to navigate. Battery life has also been fantastic. I have not run out yet so I cant provide an accurate time frame but I keep my monitor on full brightness and I would guess I could get 8 to 10 hours of consistent use. The keyboard is great in that the keys are very tactile and soothing for me to use since I am used to a mechanical keyboard. But my main complaint at the moment also lies here in that the additional function keys on the right side of the board kind of make you feel like you are leaning over a little when you are using it. But I'm sure this will become less of an annoyance as I continue to use it. I was also very surprised by the speaker quality. I certainly dont mind using this to play music while I'm working if I dont have my UE boom handy. The oversized trackpad is also taking some getting used to but overall I think I will really learn to like it. All in all I am incredibly happy with my purchase and I think with a few more weeks of use all of the things that are currently bothering me will be forgotten. I would say this is a must buy if you are in the market for an aesthetically pleasing laptop with a phenomenal display and top of the line performance.

Poor power connector in HP Spectre x360
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.HP team were unable to fix the frequent power connectivity issue, instead they sent me additional power cord which did not help. This system has poor inbuilt power connector which frequently leaves charging as connector seems to be faulty.Don't buy this item as HP has released faulty item in market which should have been recalled in first place.

Speakers are garbage
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased mine in May 2017. I get home and find out the speaker is broke. I go right back to the store to get it exchanged. Guess what? The right speaker breaks after using it for several months. I was still under the one year warranty so they fixed it. Warranty expired May 2018. Now the left speaker is broke. These are supposed to be "Bang & Olufsen" speakers?

An awesome laptop at a steal of a price.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a Macbook Pro user for about eight years. In that time I have gone through three of them. A first gen unibody macbook pro, the last gen 17" Macbook pro they made (which was the only "pro" quality Macbook I in the lineup) and a late 2014 15" macbook pro, which I am actually typing up this review on. Though I do buy new computers, I don't sell them; and I am currently working on some iOS projects, so this Macbook Pro is still fine for that. Incredibly disappointed with the latest generation of Macbook Pros, and quite impressed with Windows 10 once you turn off all the spyware, I decided that I wanted to go back to PC. Over the past two years, I have purchased two different HP Spectre X360s for my college-age daughters, who also switched to Windows after a lifetime of Macbook use, and was very impressed with them. My youngest is 20 years old and ridiculously harsh on laptops, but the Spectre (hers is the oldest one we own) is still holding up fine. In fact, she has sold three others to three of her friends who needed new laptops once they got to college. Hers is a bit dented and scratched up, but still works like it did when new. My 24 year-old daughter has one that is about a year old, and she treats it with kid gloves so it still looks new. She wipes and rebuilds her computers once a year whether they need it or not, and at the close of the spring semester hers just got rebuilt and took the Windows 10 Creator's update flawlessly. She got her first job when she was seventeen, and it was as a sales associate at the local Apple store. She eventually worked her way up to the "genius" bar and is now happy as a clam with her year-old HP Spectre X360. Mine is the latest (This one) I picked up from Best Buy. I had a Best Buy gift card with $1000 on it, burning through my pocket and the Best Buy clerk whom I first encountered was so rude and unhelpful that I stormed to the customer service desk and demanded they cash out my card. The lady at the counter was going to comply, but when she asked why and I told her, she personally went over to the computer section and got one for me to look at. She was so nice that she made up for the caustic employee that worked in the computer section and I went ahead and bought it. I ended up buying it at the customer service desk instead of the computer sales desk. Hayley was her name. She's a credit to BestBuy. I got the feeling that she wanted to help me more than she wanted the sale. At the time it was $100 more than it is now. It is a super good deal at this price and I'm still glad I paid what I did for it. It is a tremendously fantastic computer at half of what Apple would charge if they still had the innovating spirit to build it; which they don't. Unfortunately that spirit died with Steve Jobs. If my review isn't good enough for you, look at the first comment to the review I am commenting on and you'll see that this laptop is also Jesus Approved! How can you go wrong?

HP's best laptop yet!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP Spectre x-360 15" laptop is probably HP's best PC yet. The machine oozes quality all around. I researched this laptop for quite some time before purchasing. I was a little hesitant because of the $1500 price tag. But after reading all the online reviews on many PC netmags, I decided to bite the bullet. I was not disappointed. The Spectre is a beautiful piece of machinery. The moment I took the high quality laptop box from the shipping box, I knew this was going to be something good. The laptop comes packed in a matt black box and everything is neatly packaged. I thought for a second I was opening an Apple product. Once out, the laptop was solid. The black-bronze color was expertly applied to the metal. No chips, paint mis-match. No, this was a premium machine. Start up was fast. In fact, after a couple of months of use, the laptop goes from off to desktop (including Windows Hello) in about 15 secs! The display is beautiful and razor sharp. Text is clear and black with no signs of pixelation. At first, the glossy screen was a little too much for my tastes, but now I am used to it and have no issues with glare. In fact, I love the screen. Deep blacks and full color fills all 15.6" of the widescreen display. The keyboard is one of the best I have typed on. The travel on the keys is excellent! Every word I type is solid and effortless. This is one fine machine! The trackpad is large and sensitive and I utilize all of it. The Bang & Olufsen sound system is very loud and clear, albeit lacking in bass, but no worries, just plug into external speakers. Every piece of software I throw at it is handled without any delay. This is a powerful machine. Sure, it's not quad-core, but unless you are doing heavy 4K video editing, the dual-core i7 does some serious a-kicking. I run the Adobe products (Photoshop, Illustrator, & Indesign) with no issues at all. MS Office starts up in a blink of an eye without the slightest hint that there is any effort by the CPU. I can go on and on about this laptop. If you are thinking of buying this machine, do not hesitate. It is worth all $1500 and more! I am a hardcore Mac & PC user, and I can tell you that this HP Spectre x-360 is by far one of the best laptops in either platform.

Love it so far
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a laptop on which I could write notes and paint with Photoshop; I have a Surface Pro, and that is a wonderful device. However, I wanted just a bit larger screen size. This machine is just what I was looking for. The track pad and keyboard are excellent, and the screen is absolutely beautiful. If the Surface Book beats this screen with better color accuracy, my eyes are not able to tell. Fit and finish have been perfect; there is no noticeable light bleed or uneven levels of brightness on the screen. All connections work well. (Another reviewer here may have had a faulty unit...) I have tried to get the fans really working hard, and I don't find them terribly loud. Fans don't even go on at all with web browsing or using Office, only with games or Maps applications requiring intensive CPU involvement. There is no screen wobble when I type with the device on a table. There is some wobble when I use touch input without supporting the lid. Using the N-trig stylus has been working very well. Charges super fast! Windows Hello is a blast! I just lift the lid and I immediately am sent to where I left off. Minor gripes: it does weigh more than my Surface Pro 4; but the extra pound is not a burden for me most days. The Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga weighs less, but has a smaller screen and costs more. The Spectre 15 inch is a better value.

This computer is AWESOME
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided the other day that my current laptop was starting to run slow and I wanted to get a new/faster one. After researching online and looking around and discovering the difference between the traditional hard drive and the SSD I decided that I would try this laptop. OMG, this laptop is so fast and the set up was a breeze. I am so glad that I took the extra time and picked this one. I am so very happy with my purchase.

The HP Spectre should have been a great laptop but
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a longtime HP user, usually ordering direct from HP. Decided to give Best Buy a try. Delivered from Best Buy without a power cord. Best Buy couldn't or wouldn't find a power cord, so I returned the unit unused. I will return to ordering directly from HP.
