Customers often highlight the responsive touch screen, strong performance, and lightweight design of the Spectre x360 2-in-1 laptop. Positive feedback also frequently mentions the long battery life and fast SSD. However, some users note that the laptop can get warm during use and that the fan can be noisy at times. The relatively high price point is also a recurring concern for some customers.

    Amazing Computer

I do a lot of graphics rendering and the computer is great for that. No lag at all. I also love that since its touch screen i can pinch in an out to work on more detailed aspects of whatever I am working on. The pen makes the 3d just amazing. Super crisp screen. When it is in 4k resolution though everything is a bit small. but even at a lower resolution setting it still kicks the crud out of everyone else's computer screen. Great battery life... I can sit on the sofa and draw for hours before having to plug in. Cons... If you run an external monitor in addition to the laptop... the screen is so clear and crisp that it will make the external monitor look horrible.

I've had this laptop for a short while and i'm loving everything about it so far. Pressure sensitive pen helps drawing and note taking. Graphics cards let me play some games. I'm not a big gamer and I know this is not a gaming laptop but NVIDIA 940 does good. Runs a lil hot when running the graphics card. Also good for rendering some 3D designs on solidworks for school is good. Only thing is that 4k display may trip out some softwares by making all the icons super small and you would have to switch to 1080 to make them work. But other than that, I do recommend this beauty to anyone who wants good cpu power with pressure sensitivity ability.!

    Good Product

I purchased this laptop a few days ago after reading reviews. I know it's a fairly new product and it is difficult to find in stock, so I was happy to get it from the store and not have to order one! I am a long time HP computer fan, but I will admit the last two I have purchased I returned due to their exhibiting problems straight out of the box. After several years using a Dell (which was a very good experience) I took a chance and came back to HP. Overall, so far the system is working very well and I am satisfied. I hope HP has resolved it's manufacturing issues! It feels solid, is responsive, and being old school, I have to say I like the feel of the keyboard. I enjoy using the touch screen, the pen is cool, The display is bright and clear; there are many things that make this computer a very good buy and a joy to use. The few areas I have not been impressed with are relatively minor, but have kept me from giving a five-star rating. First, out of the box, this was the most complicated set up I have encountered with a new computer over the past several years. I'm not sure why, but I am used to opening the box, plugging in/charging and the system completely walking me through everything. That did not happen seamlessly with this system, and I'm still not sure why. Probably a Windows thing, not an HP thing, but it was real. I did pay for Geek Squad support, but if I have to have tech support set up a system, I feel like it's not the right system for me! Everything worked itself out without calling the experts, with a few minor questions (which I will probably call over), but it just left me feeling a little bit frustrated. I purchased the Bluetooth mouse to use with this system. What a great concept to have a mouse that doesn't use a USB port! I love that concept. However, I find it will frequently become non-responsive and you have to wait for several seconds before it comes back. I'm sure that's a Bluetooth thing, but can be quite frustrating when you are deep into something and have to wait for your mouse to come back to you. And finally, the USB port. Yes, there is only one port! If you have any external device you like to keep plugged in all the time, that will consume that single port. So, if you have a fitbit, if you have an external hard drive, if you like to charge your cell phone from your computer, if you have a mouse that isn't Bluetooth, if you have a need to back up your data onto a physical device; that's all you can do at one time. Two or even three USB ports would be preferable to me and my usage style. I knew that when I purchased the system knowing it was something I would have to deal with. But it can be limiting when using the system at home. It's ok when I'm on the go and from a portability perspective. But it's just a different way of using my computer at home. Overall, however, I am happy to be back with an HP and this is an excellent purchase.

Awful fan noise! Not capable of video editing...

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This a great looking computer. It looks sexy from the outside, but it's a bit of a lemon. Kind of like that sexy sports car you buy, only to later realize it has issues. The first issue is the fan noise, which get's ridiculously loud especially if you are trying to do anything CPU intensive on it...even basic video editing in Camtasia pushes the fan to the limit. At other times it seems the fan noise is random. If you try to watch a 4K video, again, the fan noise will start up. It's not quite as loud as a jet engine, but it is loud. Then there is the trackpad which sometimes freezes for no reason. I don't know why that happens, but it does. The computer is a dream to type on and the touch screen makes it easier to do certain things, but overall I wish I had gotten a quad core. I also was under the impression that you could upgrade the ram to 32 gbs, but you can't. The RAM max is the 16 gbs it comes with. Overall a good computer, but it's a little expensive for what you get. However, if you are into pretty things, this is the computer to buy in 2017. Especially if it's for home computing or light computing.

    A TRULY AMAZING LAPTOP

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I usually buy a top end laptop when I am in the market for one. This one does not disappoint. I have been in the market for one for a while and did countless research before making my decision. I was going to go with a gaming laptop simply for the specs and for the ability to be future proof. Most were more than i wanted to spend and with less than desirable build qualities, very heavy and the worst part I do not play computer games. There just wasn't a 15 inch that I liked outside of gaming rigs and most of them I was not a fan of. The only nice gaming rig was an Alienware but they are so heavy and that was not going to work for me. The surface is too expensive and I am not a fan of Apple products. It seemed like every laptop that I considered had too many flaws or at least one glaring flaw I could not overlook. Still I continued to search and low and behold I came across this. When i went to check it out I fell in love. The feel is amazing, and the performance is more than I am used too and that is a great feeling. I have never had a computer quite like this one. The last one i had was purchased in 2008, so at the time it was top notch but 9 years later not so much. The boot time on this is about 15 seconds or so when starting from being turned off, takes less then 5 seconds when asleep. This thing can handle anything I can throw at it and then some. Never has it giving me a reason to regret my purchase. The Keyboard is nice and has great feedback, the track-pad is very manageable and works well, better then all of my past computers. The chassis is great, the aluminum feels nice, with solid hinges, and the look is great as well. The sound is great for a laptop. Very loud but not overbearing. The sound is clear and not distorted, there is not much base but hey its a laptop, what do your expect. The screen is only rivaled by my TV which also has a 4K display. The Screen is a big selling point. I was determined to get a computer with a great screen. In the past (2008) they were not so great but i dealt with it, not this time. This time I wanted to have the best screen I could afford, and this definitely hits the spot. The system can get a little warm but honestly it is not bad and not to the point where it burns or I am concerned. Fan noise is at a minimum and rarely noticeable. Finally, the battery life is very good. When brightness is about 70% I get about 7 to 8 hours of battery life with constant use, With it turned down and with moderate use I can get days of life out of this machine. Now there are a few things I want to mention, obviously there is no 10 key which is a shame but in return you get great speakers so it is a trade off. I really wanted a 10 key but its getting more difficult to find quality laptops that offer that feature within this price point that are not gaming rigs. It was the only feature missing that I wanted but was not a deal breaker considering everything else this thing offers. The only real issue as mentioned in other reviews is an internet lag that occurs with Chrome. I did experience this and ignored it for a while but got to the point i wanted it corrected. What got me to the point i needed to fix it is a video playback issue that occurs when watching Youtube or sites that use that type of extension. It would freeze and glitch out a lot, Finally I went online and searched for what I could and did not come up with much. Finally I decided to go on HP's website and updated the drivers for the Intel and the Nvidia graphics cards and the Bios. That did the trick, now this thing runs as it was intended. I have 0 issues with it and could not be happier. I can not recommend this highly enough. This is one of the best computers on the market. Wait for it to go on sale, likely around Labor Day if you are considering. If you get it make sure you update the bios and graphics drivers asap. You will not be disappointed with this top notch unit.

I've had this laptop for 9 days and have set up everything I need for work and for leisure. I find it to work pretty flawlessly. It's lightning fast with everything except Firefox. I don't find Firefox to work well on any Windows computer though, so I don't think it's an issue with this laptop. It's smaller than most computers with a 15.6 inch screen. The weight of it seems average for a 15.6 inch screen. The battery has lasted minimum 6 and maximum 9 hours for me, depending on use. The screen is beautiful - I'm not having any issues with "texture" that another reviewer described. It's clear and crisp. The speakers sound great for a laptop. The keyboard is quite comfortable to use and not particularly loud when typing. The track pad is very responsive and I don't have any issue with accidentally touching it while typing. I don't use the touch screen much, but it does seem very responsive. The power cord on mine is fine - I'm not having the problem of it detaching easily as another reviewer described. The battery charges quickly. The fans do come on, but they're not bothersome to me, and they are reducing in frequency the more I use the computer. I truly don't have any "cons" to tell you about. It works extremely well and is a pleasure to use.

Fantastic Computer For The Most Part

I have owned this computer for a little over a week now. I spent months and countless hours researching for a computer that is built well, has a long battery life, and is very powerful. For the most part, those three things are listed in order of importance to me. This computer has delivered all three very well. The screen is beautiful, the CPU and RAM make it very powerful, and the ssd is lightning quick. The fact that it has a 2GB Dedicated card is amazing to me. Just to give a quick and simple example of the type of gaming I do, I run Battlefield 1 on it at 720p. I run BF1 at 720p because the graphics aren't a huge deal to me. I just want it to run the game smoothly and it does with ease. When I first got the game, I was running it at 1080p and it was doing just fine; however, I want a computer to run well and have a good battery life for as long as I can, so I didn't want to push the GPU to hard. There are very few things about the computer I do not like. For the most part, the fan noise and the heat the computer gives off when running hard is very loud and very warm. It's not that the noise bothers me, but more that it makes me nervous. Overall, this computer is fantastic for someone who wants a powerful, thin, beautiful, and 15" computer that has a fantastic battery. When I bought this, it seemed to be everything I wanted and the best option. I just saw that Dell has released a new 15" XPS that has a quad core i5 (which is more powerful than the dual core i7 in this), a GTX 1050 GPU, and a supposedly beautiful screen for 1599. I am very torn between keeping this or exchanging it because I would LOVE a GTX 1050 and a quad core CPU. If one does not need or want those things, then this computer is what I would get because the feature for a screen that can flip around and a pen is actually quite convenient. The battery in the Spectre is about 2-4 hours better. A couple final things to note about this computer: The keyboard is very very nice, the tracpad feels great, and the entire computer is just so beautiful.

I've owned Apple laptops for the past decade, but decided to switch to a higher end PC this time around and so far I've had a good experience. The computer offers so much that Apple just doesn't right now. It has a beautiful 4K screen, facial recognition to sign in, touchscreen and better and more RAM for the money. I found this computer to be very well built and much more sturdy than I expected. The computer fell off the airport x-ray conveyer onto the hard floor and I thought it was done. Aside from a few small scuff marks, the screen was not cracked nor was the case deformed or even dented. Make sure you fully test this computer within the return window when you buy it. Examine the screen in bright and dark light, test all the ports, make sure the included stylus works etc. My first unit had bad light bleed and would randomly shut down but the replacement was perfect. I've had this laptop since it's launch and I've found HP support to be pretty responsive. I got the geek squad protection as well but haven't used them.

I came into Best Buy to replace my 4 year old Macbook Pro with something a little more interactive with my IT software for school. I was immediately drawn to the HP Spectre 15.6" and Lenovo Yoga 15.6". I initially purchased the Yoga due to the quad core CPU and GTX 1050 vs the dual core CPU and GTX 940 in the Spectre. One day owning the Yoga resulted in a black line appearing on the top right-hand corner of the screen. I returned the unit to Best Buy and replaced it with the Spectre (which was $100 cheaper and included a stylus). After installing multiple VMs, Visual Studio, MS Office Suite, etc., I was concerned about the multitasking capabilities of the Spectre. I have yet to have one issue with lagging or bogging down the CPU. HP Spectre vs Lenovo Yoga HP Pros-thin, sleek, stylus included, wide track pad, volume rocker, HDMI, long battery life (9-12 hours). HP Cons-cheap keyboard, NVIDIA 940, dual core CPU, 1 USB port (USB type C to USB type A adapter may be required for additional devices) Lenovo Pros-NVIDIA 1050, quad core processor, fingerprint login, excellent keyboard, 2 USB ports Lenovo Cons-may have quality control issues with screen, short battery life (5-7 hours). I will update this review if any quality control issues exist with the Spectre. Hopefully, this unit will last as long as my 8 year old HP Dv7-3065dx that is currently running alongside this machine.

Amazing :) I was unsure of since it was very expense (I wanted a macbook)...after a month or so...I don't even think about that desire! The HP makes me feel like im on a macbook or better (since it can game lol). The fans on mine turn on only when it requires them, and the touchpad/tablet is amazing! You basically feel like its not an HP because it works flawlessly! HP isn't bad but I've heard those flipflop tech stories about random products not lasting. This takes the cake if you want to save instead of buying a macbook! You may even like it better because its built to evolve IE afforable and amazing 4k. You laugh at anything under 4k on your screen! Worth leaving a review :)

    Best Laptop Experience

What can I say. I like this laptop as much as I like my MacBook Pro (I have background in IT and many experience with PC laptops with different brands to support the credibility of this review. I don't really do review if I don't really like it). Besides specs on the paper, this laptop is a built "for real". Its keyboard is not at all flimsy compared to older HP models (Pavilion). The feeling when typing is just right for you to type with confident compared to current MB Pro with Touchbar and the model before Touchbar. Touchpad works great and accurate (if only it can does three-finger drag then it will be identical to Apple non-Force Touch trackpad) This laptop's infrared works well with Microsoft Hello facial recognition. I tried in a pitch dark room and it still works great. This laptop also has "Bang & Olufsen" brand imprinted on it. At first I was skeptical because I had super bad experience with "Beats Audio" or "JBL" Pavilions. This laptop is NOT living up to B&O sound quality for sure but is it that bad? The answer is NO. You definitely can't expect a room-filling sound out of a laptop but this one can perform well in reproducing treble and virtual-bass (I call it virtual-bass because you won't get that oumph like from full-size speaker but just enough for you to feel it is there) after tinkering B&O a little bit.

I originally purchased an Asus 2 in 1 but when it arrived it wouldn't charge. I used to be an avid MacBook user but just can't justify the price anymore and needed to switch back to Windows OS for work reasons. When I took the Asus back to the store, this was the closest thing they had to the specs of the Asus. I brought it home kind of half hearted but WOW am I happy I did! This machine runs fast, quiet, and has zero bloat ware to it! I was able to transfer almost a decades worth of work files in one day. I'll have to come back in a few months to let you know if it continues to blow away my expectations but for now I couldn't possibly be happier. Oh, and it's sexy, yet professional appearance is just icing on the cake. Great job HP!

This came really close to being the perfect machine, I really wanted it to. I have been waiting to replace my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro for a long time, alas HP has let me down. Since most computers with the same specs are expected to behave comparably, I wont gloat over the SSD or i7, any flagship device with an SSD and i7 should behave comparably. I will just focus on elements that that are specific to the Spectre. PROS 1. Keyboard is fantastic, one of the best I've typed on. 2. The machined chassis feels really nicely built. 3. The audio quality/volume is fantastic, this was the biggest "upgrade" from my yoga. 4. The battery, on powersaver, for watching movies is decent, but not the best out there. (6.5 hrs on power saver has been my max for streaming netflix). CONS 1. The power adapter keeps disconnecting from the laptop. For example, I have it sitting on a table, I rotate the laptop 30 degrees, that motion is enough to disconnect the charger, even though it moves only about a millimeter, it loses connection and stop charging. There is no locking mechanism that keeps in in place. I have been unable to use the laptop plugged in on my lap, as it keeps disconnecting with every movement I make. 2. The battery/power optimization is very inconsistent. Two full discharges while streaming Netflix at 90% brightness with Power Saver on, gave me about 6.5hrs of battery life each time. Yet on another occasion, I turned off the Power Saver, and tried updating the Nvidia drivers, ended up being stuck for about 20 min "waiting to install" and lost close to 30% of its battery life. At that rate it would last barely 2hrs. 3. The weight is a bit too much. I understand HP increased the weight to add to the battery, and had the battery blown me away, I would have foregone this criticism, but since the battery life is fairly mediocre for a premium laptop, the weight is a hindrance. (The 4k Yoga 910, which I will likely switch to, has been tested to reach about 20/30% more battery life, even though being only 66% of the weight (admittedly with a slightly smaller screen). 4. The fans are quite loud during full load, I have had to throttle this down to maintain my sanity. However, throttling using power settings seems to fix this issue. 5. The screen, while being beautiful because its a 4k screen has a weird texture when one looks at it from about 14in or closer. I opened up a white word document on my work Dell laptop (14in 1080p) and put it side-by-side with the Spectre, only to be disappointed. Looking at both from 14in away, I cannot see the individual pixels on the Dell, and there is just a slight hint of texture from the pixel grid. On the 4k Spectre, granted the text looks sharper, yet all the white space has an annoying crisscross texture, it literally looks like fabric. I have a 27in 4k monitor, and I have had the Acer V15 4k gaming laptop, both 4k machines, and both have not had this issue. Overall I'm really disappointed, I wanted to love this machine, but the few cons killed an otherwise amazing machine. I am hoping problem #1 and #2 are just issues with my own machine. I am planning on returning and trying out a Yoga 910 while I still have my return window.

I got this laptop because I needed a windows computer that had enough memory to run ArcGIS smoothly. It is also my personal computer so I liked that it still had a sleek design. The first laptop (this model) that I picked up at best buy had horrible problems with ghost clicking that rendered the computer unusable, even after a lot of time with HP customer service. So, I returned it and got another. This one works fast, but still has occasional problems that make it annoying. I still get occasional ghost clicking that only goes away if I close the laptop. Also, if I put it to sleep so as to save all of my tabs and whatever I am working on, it occasionally wont respond when I come back. I'll try moving the mouse to wake it up and it will hum loudly like it is trying really hard but the screen will remain black, the only fix is shutting it down manually with the side button. Overall, I like it. But these are just some of the problems I have experienced with this computer, and it is my second one! I don't know, maybe I just got unlucky and got 2 lemons. Either way, I'd be a little weary before spending a lot on this laptop.
