Great Laptop but 1 issue that may be a Dealbreaker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop on Thanksgiving day from Best Buy online. I received it over the weekend and I really first used it to type some stuff up for school 2 days ago. One of the main issues I noticed is that unless you push near the center of the space bar, it does not space.Part of the left side of the space bar and part of the right side do nothing if pushed on their sides. I have a meeting with Geek Squad to see if there is an issue with my keyboard or it is a fault of the laptop. I really enjoy this laptop so far, but if this space bar issue cannot be fixed, I will have no choice but to return it. I just do not naturally hit the space bar in the dead center of the button. This is unacceptable for a laptop that is priced over $1K. Other than the space bar issue, I have had no issues. I am coming from an HP Envy that is over 5 years old and had a terrible battery life. The 4K screen is beautiful, the keyboard feels great, and it's fast. The touchpad is not one of the best, but it works. I use a mouse anyway so this is not a big deal for me. The computer boots up lightning fast and runs smoothly. I would recommend this to all as long as they do not have to deal with the space bar issue.

Sleek, Stylish and fast
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been searching for a right one since my 4 year old dell inspiron slowed down. Did a lot of research on the models which are currently available in the market and few grabbed my attention. Hp Spectre x360, Dell XPS 15, Lenovo Yoga 720. 3 of them have had similar configurations on a whole (Of course, Dell stood on top while considering every tech review). Hp came up with an impressive model this time. 4K was awesome and reached expectations. Boot up time is lightening fast (So far), which took 4 seconds. All the tech specs are quite satisfactory when compared with the competitors. NVIDIA MX150 was chosen by dell where as others had GX1050. Bang and olufsen audio is quite impressive and their placement on the laptop has to be credited. Keyboard was awesome, giving a good typing experience. Track pad is a bit big when compared to others, which might annoy few. The only thing I observe is, it quickly heats up and fan makes noise sometimes. Heavy gamers might have to consider this one as it can get heated up easily. I wonder how many years this will last with having any over heat problems. I thought of exchanging with Dell XPS, but I have to say I am impressed with this one.

Quality build but runs too hot
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Built solid and looks classy with its gold trim. But under light use it still got too hot to set on my lap.

Very good specs but falls short
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: -very good specs -design is stunning -takes only a few seconds to boot up -the display looks sharp and bright - 2 in 1 is convenient Cons: - the battery life is not as advertised; I only get on average 5 hours which is less than half the advertised time of 12 hours. - the fans are very LOUD - they turn on even for simple web browsing - 4k display has scaling issues with many apps (Photoshop, Illustrator, AutoCAD, etc) The font is too small to read. -not very many ports (but easily solved with a usb hub) - a bit heavy for an ultrabook I want to like this laptop, but with the issues so far, I can't recommend it to others.

Great, but a couple issues.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I love the specs of the laptop. It's super fast and up to par with what I expected in regards to speed. The display is lovely and the entire chassis feels sturdy and sleek. However, I don't know if it's just mine, but the left ctrl key sticks whenever I press it and also squeaks. I will have to replace or return this because it's unacceptable for a laptop over $1,000 to have a keyboard with keys that don't function properly. Another con would be how hot the laptop gets, but that's expected with the location of the air intake being on the bottom which kinda sucks. Overall, I would have gave 5 stars from my use so far if it wasn't for the bad key I have. I will update the review if I'm able to get this current laptop replaced.

Nice, but...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very excited to start using my HP Spectre. It had all the bells and whistles. However, the metal edge before the keyboard made me feel like I was slowly cutting my wrists. Not a good feeling. Rather than try another one l, I returned it and got a Microsoft Surface.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Laptop ran great and was my favorite machine right up until today when the motherboard died (common for these apparently) the warranty just expired last week so of you want a machine you can use for a year then use as a doorstop go on ahead

Screen started to give glared and is slowly dying
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product i bought in a boxed pack from best buy in allen had it warranty started on 21st oct 2017 although i brought it in late november 2017. seems like they sold me a used or damaged/refurbished unit which some one already purchased and returned activating the warranty one month back. the boxed was not sealed when i bought and they said it was the last unit they had but not a display. the stylus was missing in the box and then later when i went there to ask they ask its not provided though its said in the item list/manual. later after arguing about it they gave one..very bad experience with the product as well as your service..will never shop here due to these issues or recommend any one

Make sure you pack protection!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After 10 minutes of this incredibly sleek 2 in 1 being turned on, the CPU gets so ridiculously HOT, that you may blister from holding it too long. I have never experienced anything like it. So, NO you cannot use it it tablet mode without of course carrying some oven mitts and NO there is no way around it. It can't be fixed. I had to return it sadly just because of that fact. It made me nervous wondering when it was gonna overheat and crash, I bought it for the 2 in 1 uses and could only use "1". I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that's how hot the thing got. I do not recommend. keep away from children or anyone with sensitive skin

Nice laptop for serious work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used a MacBook Pro for about four years prior to seeking this laptop as a replacement. It has more than held its own vs. the loaded MacBook (i7, 16GB RAM, 1 TB SSD). The main reasons I looked to upgrade was to get better Windows 10 integration with the touchscreen with better supported drivers (Apple ignores the needs of Windows users for its drivers), plus the speed boost of USB-C ports. I am a professional engineer and for my everyday needs for Visual Studio, Adobe Creative Cloud, and MS Office, the HP is every bit as capable as my MacBook. The battery life is excellent in comparison to what I've experienced in the past -- especially for a loaded i7. I can actually go do a 6-hour on-site work session without carrying a charger! I do wish it had a 1 TB SSD. It appears to be possible to upgrade the internal NVMe RAM, mine came with the Toshiba THNSN5512GPUK installed, but there is no inexpensive way to externally reuse that 512 GB card once it is removed! To make up for the needed internal SSD space, I have been using external 6 Gb/s SSD drives in USB-C compatible enclosures with advertised 10Gbps speed support. The performance even when using VMWare virtual machines running on the external ports is quite acceptable -- actually quite good. I certainly see a boost over the USB3 ports in the older MacBook Pro. The fan noise is louder with the HP, but it is not grating. You can tweak the Win10 Performance settings just below 100% to keep the fan from kicking into highest gear. The Intel CPU throttling makes 100% CPU utilization level for all cores hard to maintain for any length of time anyway. This 15.4" form factor also does not get as hot as the 13.3" model when sitting on my lap.

Worst laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Laptop died after one month. Not Powering on. Tried all teh steps mentioned in the website, but no help. I don't think HP Spectre is a premium product any more and I will never buy HP again. I dont recommend this.

Laptop will not turn on!
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop in March 2018. In Dec 2019 it shut down and would not come back on. Geek Squad says the warranty has expired and I must pay $85 for them to look at it and determine what is wrong. If it can be fixed I would then have to pay for labor and parts. This seems unreasonable for a $1500 laptop that is less than 2 years old.
