Amazing computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love this computer. I purchased it for graduate school, and to be able to work on the go. It is incredibly fast, versatile, and looks great! Out of all the reviews recommending this computer, I have not been disappointed. Though it is pricey, if you need a powerful laptop, this is definitely a great buy.

LAGG, Heavy Charger, No Pen, Software Glitches, ++
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.-PRICE - this is less money from the manufacturer, it is more money if bought here. idk why.. but I often feel like a fool buying any where other than the manufacturer (more handling, more fees, costs, logistics, risk of movement, misc./etc..). Either way, They matched it. -LAGS - you "click", then a response seconds later. Also, sometimes, I'll click something and it will recognize my click but won't respond at all. -CHARGER - heave, not portable, larger than 13.3" charger since this is more watts. -PEN - Included in other models but not here -SOFTWARE GLITCHES - you change a setting, then it goes to default after shut down/restart. Took a few days to solve this... -CASE - they don't make a hard case here -PACKAGING - computer had sticky residue all over it, was very dirty, I was surprised here.. took time to clean and rub the residue off. -BATTERY - I can upload pix here later... but idk how in the world this will last 12+hrs.. after full charge and all settings set to low energy I still show 6-8hrs at most, this will decrease at various growth rates. -TEMP - gets hot while on performance mode, it's alright on other modes. THE GOOD: -This PC is still lovely. -Below, it asks if I would recommend this to a friend... and I thought to myself... "I already have". -BEST BUY SERVICE = AWESOME!!! I love you all, you have always been there for me since I was young - thank you - I mean this.

Audio Recording Worthy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this with high expectations since the specs to me were screaming out audio recording worthy............ And using Protools 12 and Abletone as well as other audio software, I'm not disappointed. I also use it for video editing and it seamlessly carries out all the tasks I ask of it. The only thing is it's kinda loud at times. Battery life is very good, even when using it for heavy workloads. I haven't used the windows ink with it, so I don't have any say in that area. Anyways. You won't be dissappointed if you get this beauty. If feels great to the touch, it's solid.

Surface Book 2 alternative
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was looking for a Surface Book 2 with an i7 and at least a 512Gb SSD. Reviews are stellar for the surface Book 2 to be sure, but I had misgivings. Have owner a Surface Pro 3 for 4 years, and served me well. But the small screen was a drawback for me, and frankly I did not use the screen as a tablet at all. I began to see reviews of this machine and they were very good. Most prevalent complaint was a coil whine and heat. Otherwise, great reviews. Fast, great screen, speedy SSD and 8th (not 7th) gen Intel processor. And the price is @ $1,000.00 less than a comparable Surface Book 2. Took the plunge. Only on my second day but have been putting it through the paces and so far am thrilled. Have not noticed excessive heat (I am not a gamer and I assume that might be an issue). Quiet enough. Occasionally hear some notice when the fan kicks in but no more (and perhaps less) than most other laptops I have used. I am not a big HP fan (except for printers) but this model has changed my opinion. Very happy and would recommend highly.

► NEW MODEL COMING IN MARCH 2018! ◄
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a fantastic laptop with a great screen, and the only direct competitor for the style and features is the comparable Lenovo model. But an improved Spectre x360 is coming this March with a MUCH BETTER videocard and a FULL KEYBOARD (with the numeric touchpad). I would WAIT and buy that one.

Fast, Quiet, Solid
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer has a lot to offer. Its fast, quiet, and compact. I returned two laptops prior to this one, those laptops had the Intel Core i7 8th Gen, and they both lagged badly. So I took a chance with this computer with the Intel Cor i7 7th Gen, and no problems at all. I have up to 30 web sites open at once, and no problems even with power point and word all working at the same time. For me this was a good choice, and very happy with it.

Great laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded to this Spectre after owning the Envy for a couple years. By far the best laptop I've had the 4K display is just fantastic and looks amazing. I'm a light gamer as well and it runs some games decently. Guild Wars 2 will have to be played on low settings but still a heck of a beast. Money spent well and I would recommend this to anyone.

Still the old problems
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Slower machine than expected, it keeps the same problem as the previous one that has too small characters, especially in apps like Windows Office. I believe that in this case Intel 8 generation does not absolutely do its job. The white of display is a light grey. The machine looked not very heavy, but then the big and heavy charger adds me a delusion. My opinion it does not deserve the money it costs. Audio not bad. Very hard call the assistance.

Awesome Computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Maybe I'm new to 2-in-1 laptops, but I love this computer. Great typing feel. Love the ability to just flip it around and start using it like a tablet. Design is beautiful. I'm a pretty simple user, don't use all the fancy features so probably overkill for my needs but still love it.

Really disappointed, returned mine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have looked for a new notebook for YEARS and have spent countless hours looking at videos, reviews, and comments and this looked like a sure bet. Got it on Black Friday for $400 off, which was added incentive to buy such a high-price machine. Opened it up and noticed the leather sleeve/folio, but no smart pen (shown in multiple pics and included direct from HP and from many other retailers). I contacted HP and Best Buy customer service and Best Buy was "pretty sure" it didn't come with the pen from them but linked me to a pen that's not made for this machine. HP was sure that Best Buy didn't include the smart stylus pen but said they did. They couldn't sell it separately though, because even THEY didn't have it outside of the bundle, with the Spectre and pen matching, which is what I wanted. I waited and finally both offered it (though not exactly as shown) as a separate purchase. I went to go through set up and the power button was so touchy it turned the machine on before I wanted and before I'd plugged it in. When Cortana spoke, her voice was distorted in the PATHETIC speakers, which sounded like tin cans. I'm a musician and knew that didn't bode well. The speakers at 50% with just her spoken voice were clipping and buzzing. Then Windows setup said "Taking longer than expected" and then suddenly appeared to stop and I got a black screen with white cursor and no idea what to do. I looked it up on my phone and this is a common HP issue after a Windows update, but the update was long enough ago it should be rectified. I waited a half hour and finally things got going again. Then I got a desktop, but couldn't open ANYTHING. All apps/features were shadowed/pale and couldn't be clicked on. Furthermore, the huge, awkward trackpad lacks a scroll feature (my 2007 HP had one, why doesn't this?) and froze EVERY SINGLE TIME I used it. I had to swipe across the entire thing multiple times to "wake it up" and it often jumped around on screen, failed to click, or clicked the wrong things--another issue that's rampant on these according to a year's worth of forums or more. At this point, I knew I was taking it back. Finally got that all fixed (except the freezing trackpad) and watched 4K video on YouTube. It looked no better than my 2007 HP Pavilion's 768p screen and at times worse. Sound is distant and doesn't "match up" naturally with speaker's face. It was obvious sound and visuals came from different places, if that makes sense, vs it looking and sounding like someone speaking has the sound coming from the screen where they are. The sharp metal edge looks good and feels horrible. It cut into my wrists as I typed and I see this is a years-old complaint. It was uncomfortable at best and painful at worst and I'd never be able to type for extended periods, which I need to do. Finally, while playing Microsoft Jigsaw to test a simple game and the touch screen, I found it started to lag significantly and even freeze. I'd touch a puzzle piece and move it but it would trail behind my finger significantly, or not move at all. Like that minimal game was overtaxing it. I factory reset it and took it back for a refund. I really hated it for the price, despite beautiful design and new tech. Too expensive for a barely-functional, heavy, uncomfortable 2-in-1 that doesn't even include the pen designed for it for Windows Ink and full use of the screen.

Amazing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have never spent this much on a laptop before, but this one is worth every penny. I can turn it on and be up and running on the internet in seconds...I have never had a laptop this fast before. It is amazing to use and beautiful to look at, you can’t beat it!

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this laptop bc the stylus that it comes with is specifically made for this computer and doesn't lag some some third party stylus. Extremely Dissapointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My current Sony Vaio touchscreen laptop is nearing end of life so I've been researching replacements (for photography & video). This HP floated to the top of my list for it's 4k touchscreen, 8th gen i7 processor, PCI-e SSD, dedicated graphics card among other things. To top it off it was marked down $400 for Black Friday. So, I stood in line for an hour on Thanksgiving evening to get one. I get it home and immediately notice a screen issue with 'phantom touches' to the screen, meaning the screen was acting as if it was randomly being touched when it was not. I spend the next 2 hours updating the OS and drivers, then messaging some HP guy in India who confirmed the hardware is bad. Back to Best Buy I go at 11pm on Thanksgiving to find out they're now sold out and cannot process returns until tomorrow. So, tomorrow I'll make a 3rd trip to Best Buy to return this. I still like the specs on this so I may give it another shot and order one (unfortunately there's not anything else spec'd like this right now). Also kudos to Best Buy in Delafield, WI. They've been super helpful. No doubt they'll take care of me but nonetheless this an incredible inconvenience and a huge disappointment from HP.

Defective speaker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to ship it back for repairs just as soon as I got it. The left speaker rattled from the first start up and couldn’t be fix remotely by the hp tech. He determined it was a hardware problem. Is there such a thing as a reliable pc? My wife’s MacBook Pro is now 3 years old and we’ve never had a single issue. If I could play games on a Mac, I’d never consider a PC.

Didn't Meet expectations
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this laptop but eventually returned it. The specs on paper look great but after using it for a month I felt that it did not meet my expectations. The build quality and look of the laptop feels great but the hinge could be a bit tighter. In terms of noise, the fan levels were fine, but there was an annoying coil whine. The trackpad was terrible because there were too many extra phantom clicks that made the laptop difficult to use. The 4k screen looks nice but not that much nicer to justify the price as well as loss of battery life to the 1080p version. Speakers were about average, they were clear but nothing too special about them. Overall, I did not feel that this laptop was worth the price tag. On paper it seems great considering the specs but the execution of this laptop was about average.

Love this laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop 2 weeks before Christmas (2017). I waited until I had a chance to really try it out. All I have to say is I love it. I have a MacBook pro but I needed a pc for AutoCAD. I fell in love with this one. It is now my primary laptop. The resolution and graphics are incredible. Bang for the buck. this is probably one of the best deals out there.
