    Perfect! (almost)

I was looking for a high powered 2-1 that provided "everything". Here's the breakdown: SCREEN: Amazing! Great blacks, super high res ( I cannot see pixels even up close). I was in the middle of watching a series when I got this laptop, and the difference was obvious. I wonder, though, if a 120 Hz screen would be the next step up. This is 60 Hz, and not sure if other laptops have 120 Hz. Watching fast action, and I'm being very picky here, I can notice a difference to my TV. Maybe something for HP to chew on in their pursuit of a "perfect" laptop. KEYBOARD: Sleek, modern, quality feel. SOUND: Rich sound. Only minor issue is occasionally get distortion. When I turn down the volume it goes away, but then it may be too quiet than what is desired. Not sure if my unit has some defect, but minus half a star for that. PEN: I'm new to the pen on a PC. It seems to just take some getting used and otherwise works well. Would have been nice if they provided some way to attach to the laptop (magnetic maybe?) or better yet store it with it like the Dell Inspiron 2-in-1. FAN/NOISE: Having an i7 and video card you expect heat and the need for cooling. But seriously, they did a stellar job here! Well exceeded my expectations. For non-gaming use I don't hear the fan or feel much heat at all, even on directly on my lap, it's very well designed! Compare this to the Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 with similar specs, well there's no comparison, this does an amazing job with cooling whereas the Dell has a built in tornado. DESIGN: This is a sharp looking piece of hardware. You see and feel quality design. Not like some other machines that try to look as boring as possible. Also, USB-C is great for an external dock. I use a Dell dock and it works great and also charges with the single wire. This a great option if you have too many peripherals. WEBCAM: Here's where HP let me down, big time. The camera stinks. It's all purple and pink. In daylight it's not as bad but very noticeable. See review picture with the pink shirt on the HP, and the true gray color of the shirt on a Samsung Tab-A. And in the evening forget it, it's pink / purple all over. HP could not help. Could not find any solution other than "that's the way it is." Really big downer and the main reason I lowered rating to 4 stars. For video conferencing, I'm just not using this webcam. I'll join on my iPad or iPhone, thank you very much. PERFORMANCE: We're very close to "instant" here. Turns on super quick, apps open and respond instantly. Have not noticed lag of any sort, it just works consistently fast. I use this 3D modeling and occasional video editing and same thing. Very happy with performance. Overall, this is laptop looks and performs beautifully. In the end, with the exception of the webcam, I'm extremely happy with it.

Pros: Sleek look, stellar performance, responsive touchscreen. Cons: My hard drive was a bit short (~460 GB instead of the advertised 512 GB). Overall, I love this laptop! It has a sleek and sophisticated look. The anodized aluminum finish with the rose gold trim looks gorgeous. I'm also thrilled to report that this laptop has more than just a pretty face. Performance wise, the laptop is excellent. I can easily record a podcast while having 20+ internet tabs open and my editing software running. So far, I haven't experienced any significant lag while running basic recording and editing software simultaneously. I've also experimented with games like Assassin's Creed Odyssey and The Witcher 3. The laptop runs the games at a similiar resolution as my PS4 slim, which was pleasant surprise. I'm also a big fan of the touchscreen and the stylus. Granted, the laptop is a bit too big to be used as a tablet, but I love browsing netflix and spotify with the touchscreen. After all, who wants to use a track pad or mouse when their chilling in bed? It's 2019! The sound is impressive. Deep bass, clean mid range, and crisp highs that really punch through. The only thing I'm disappointed about was the hard drive space. Mine clocked in at about 460 GB, instead of the advertised 512 GB. But hey, 50 Gigs is a small price to pay for an otherwise stellar experience.

This laptop is an upgrade to my HP Envy that is several years old. I am using it primarily for my photography. I wanted a display that would make my photos pop! And it does just that! The Battery is a 6 cell and it seems to later a lot longer that my Envy. The only cons that I have found so far, is that it only has 1 USB port. It also only has a micro SD card slot. I had to buy a Type C SD Card Adapter. The speakers are far better than the ones on my Envy. The sound quality is amazing. I got the on the Black Friday early access. And I am not disappointed!

I have been using the laptop for the past week and a half ondaily basis. it is fast, well built, clear awesome display and charges from 10% to 100% in approximately 2.30 hours, and the battery will last approx 12 hours with medium usage like (surfing the internet and watching regular quality youtube videos) and will last more if you just use it for regular school work. Fan is not that loud, it will rarely kick in. Laptop stays cool most of the time. Highly responding touch pad. Keyboard has good key travel. I really enjoy using it. Hopefully it will last for a few years with this performance.

I’ve had my laptop for about a month now and it’s amazing. The screen quality is 100% clear, vivid and bright. With its lightening speed internet access and touch screen is so convenient and easy to use. I love the sleek design and the 360* flip screen comes in handy. Overall this is a great laptop and it works amazing with a ton of Storage & Ram. I would definitely recommend this HP Spectre to anyone looking for a laptop that can do it all!

Been seeking a top-end laptop for business & communications & accounting tax & this is it. Top-of-line processor, plenty of memory. Screen is beautiful. Light, portable. I have a USB-C docking station w/ large monitor and integration + video is seamless. You get a lot of bang for the buck. Only real weakness is the webcam is pretty poor quality relative to a cell phone camera, but that's literally it. There's no reason to hesitate.

Got it for $1099 during Thanksgiving sale 2019. I am a person who always evaluates the product in terms of value for money. In 2011 I bought my first laptop Dell which lasted till 2019 and in 2019, I realized it is time to move on in terms of technology, speed, memory and processing. This product simply personifies what VALUE FOR MONEY means. 4 years down the line it won't feel old, has enough power and processing for heavy stuff gaming etc and can be used in tab mode. My daughter can use it as per her educational needs. Looks really solid and is future-ready. Great product.....

So far this computer has done everything I need it to do. The only problem is that I'm having a hard time finding the right docking station. I'm running 2 monitors (HDMI), and I'll need to handle charging through USB-C/Thunderbolt. I bought this to replace my Dell XPS 15. The XPS crapped out 4 days after my warranty expired. I was getting blink codes, and not finding out what they meant through forums, etc., I was told by Dell support that I would have to PAY somewhere between $160 (one-time question) to $320 (for some multiple year crap) to get that simple answer. All I wanted to know was if it was the motherboard or memory or what. All they wanted was more money. The support guy even refused to transfer me to sales (He said, "I will take care of selling you the warranty") to find out if the $160-320 would be better spent on a new one. Next thing you know, I "accidentally" hung up on him. Also another word on the Dells, be wary of their Support Assist app. It does a great job of keeping your drivers up-to-date, but it also rummages through your personal folders. I wasn't aware of it until a forced Windows 10 update. Windows security caught the program (OSProfileCollecto.exe) trying to access my documents folder. When I contacted support to find out exactly what it was doing, they told me that it wasn't their program. Then they told me that it is part of Support Assist, but it doesn't access personal folders. When I showed them the screen captures of what Windows Security had caught. They said, okay, so it does that... but it's benign (as in it doesn't actually access my files, just the folder layouts and sizes). The only solution given was to uninstall Support Assist (and give up the automatic driver updates). If they'd told me up-front what it does, I wouldn't have been suspicious. The deceit is cause for concern. After careful consideration, I decided to research other laptops. It came down to this one or the comparable ASUS Zenbook. I didn't really like the touchpad on the ASUS, and the HP optioned-out more to my needs. So I went with the HP. I wasn't really looking for a touch screen, and I'm sure it added greatly to the price, but it came with the deal. I've used it a couple of times. At 15 inches, this one's a little bit too big to comfortably use it in tablet mode. The pen that comes with it has been useful at least once. I was able to easily create my Adobe Acrobat signature so I can put it on documents. This laptop is heavier than the XPS, and all things being equal I never would have gone away from Dell. I've never owned anything but Dell computers, but they've gone away from me. Never again. I've always recommended Dells to family and friends, and now I feel like a fool for having done so. I bought my mom a higher-end Inspiron, and it's also a hunk of junk. That said, this HP Spectre was the best option I could find. Other than its weight, I'm very happy with it. It really screams. Whew! That was cathartic.

I was thinking to buy Surface Laptop 3 but when I saw this laptop this at pre black friday price Microsoft's laptop looked highly overpriced. This one has better specs (double SSD, 4K UHD screen, More ports, Pen, 2in1 design) and arguably more premium look. I have had this for 3 days now and I am really impressed so far. This is my first HP laptop and I am really happy with this purchase. I have already opened recommended this to my friends. I am a programmer and I was thinking to buy a laptop with Good Specifications and install Linux on that but this latest version of windows 10 is so smooth I dropped that thought. This is almost as fast if not more than my wife's Macbook pro and this one does a lot more than that too.

Have had it for almost a month now from a black Friday sale for $1200 with tax-- absolutely amazing, very good value. Personal thoughts: Pros: 1. Extremely fast, great screen and battery life. 2. Comes with leather case with stylus pen and pen holder. 3. Pen is -very intuitive, easy to write with. 4. Battery life works really well! Lasts me about 8 hours using it throughout the day during classes. 5. Keyboard feels nice, shallow but with good key feedback 6. Full number pad which I LOVE. 7. Such a sleek design. It is just so cool-looking, Idk how else to say it haha. 8. Very strong hinge. I was a little worried about how well it would hold up, but it is VERY sturdy. I use it in presentation mode a lot (bending the keyboard back 270 degrees, but still having the screen upright) and it's sturdy enough for me to write on it with the pen. 9. Powerful core and processor. Just so fast, I can't believe it compared to my previous laptop! Cons: 1. Some people complain that the track pad is off center, but it's center with the regular keyboard, so I honestly don't mind it. The issue I have with it is because there are no buttons (It's flat and you just click towards the bottom for left/right clicking), when you try and use two fingers on it, it doesn't process the info right. Idk if anyone else does it, but when I copy and paste I am used to moving the mouse with my right hand and clicking with my left, which on THIS track pad makes it think I am trying to scroll. Not a huge deal, but sometimes a little irritating 2. Because of the big screen, sometimes using it in tablet mode is a little cumbersome. I still like using it for the big screen though when taking notes! 3. In tablet mode where they keyboard is bent all the way back, sometimes because of the small bezels (black bars on the top and bottom) if you are resting it on your stomach it is hard to click/touch the bottom of the screen, but really not a big deal in the long run, since it gives you more screen. 4. Also in tablet mode, if you are holding it and you accidentally click the trackpad, it'll freak out for a second and go back into computer mode. 5. When using the pen, if you don't have on long sleeves sometimes the touch screen is too sensitive to the side of your hand and it messes up your writing. I usually pull my sleeve down to avoid this, but is slightly annoying. Long story short: amazing laptop in almost all aspects. Some small issues with the track pad and touch screen, but pros WAY outweigh the cons.

Great 2 in 1 - I use it for all my computing needs

I've been using this 2-in-1 laptop for about 6 months now and so far, so good. I've rated it 5 stars but it's more like 4 1/2. How I use my computer... I watch YouTube, Netflix, and Disney+ and they all look fantastic. I'm a part time student so I use it for school (web design and coding). And I'm a Database Administrator by trade so I have SQL Server 2016 developer edition loaded and running. I also have Visual Studio 2019 installed. I work from home so I use Teams extensively. Everything works great, no real lag. I do very light gaming. A few Batman telltale games and now I'm playing GTA 5. I do all my business paperwork, taxes, you name it, I do it on this laptop. The good: The specs - I7 tenth gen processor, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Plenty for my needs. The looks - In my mind, nothing beats the look of the HP Spectre line. The 4k display - I didn't really realize how good it looked until I fired up some 4k videos on youtube...Wow! I'm a big fan of amoled screens, especially from Samsung, but this IPS screen looks pretty darn good. Sound - The Bang & Olufsen speakers sound fantastic when watching multimedia. The price - I picked up this laptop in late November of 2019 for the discounted price of $1099.99. You will not find a better deal when if comes to the specs of this PC. Light gaming - I'm not a huge gamer but I downloaded a free version of GTA 5 from Epic Games, just used the default settings, and the game runs just fine for me. Port selection - I think others have dinged if for this but it has 2 usb c, one of those is thunderbolt 3, 1 usb a, and an hdmi out port. I think this is really enough. I did buy a hub that has 3 usb a ports plus an ethernet port that plug into a usb c port, which gives me all I need. Headphone jack which is great for Teams/Skype and multimedia. Micro SD slot. The camera kill switch. It has a hardware kill switch for the camera which I think is great. No need to put tape over the camera or worry about accidently having it on during a teams meeting! It comes with a pen. I'm not an artist so I can't help you there but I've had to sign a few online documents and it's great for that. Tablet mode and touchscreen. I don't use this function much but when I do it is nice to have. It's nice to be able to put the computer in tent mode and watch movies. Keyboard - Two stage back light and a keypad. I had a spectre x360 13inch years ago, which a family member of mine still uses today, that didn't have the keypad. I really missed it! The bad: Fingerprint scanner - I was having about a 50% hit ratio with the finger print scanner. However, I did some research and if you reset the fingerprint scanner in the BIOS settings, delete your fingers, and put them back in, it is much better. It is now around 90-95% effective but I still have the occasional hiccup. Cooling fans can get a little loud. If you are watching video you don't really hear them. However, if you are coding and it's relatively quiet, they can sound pretty loud. Battery life - I'm not going to ding it too bad here because I'm that person that likes to have my screen brightness at 100% without automatically adapting and I use the backlite keyboard often. But it's not great under those conditions. If you turn the brightness down and put on the adaptive settings, battery life does improve. Indifferent: The trackpad. I hardly use it, I always have an external mouse so I can't really rate it. I've read people having bluetooth and wifi issues but I have not encountered a single issue with either. Weight, it is 4.5 lbs but it has a 15.6 inch screen and a full size keyboard. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase. If you catch a sale, you really get the maximum bang for your buck.

Purchased this on an early Black Friday deal for $500 off and could not be happier. Laptop is a little larger and heavier than I am used to at 15", but the extra screen real estate is great and really makes the 4K screen worth it. The computer is fast in terms of both boot up and operation. With a 10th gen Core i7 and SSD w/ Intel Optane everything is quick. Also, with the discrete graphics (even if not the highest end GPU) it makes my Lightroom photo editing that much better. Battery life is much better than I expected to for a laptop with a 4K screen, likely due to the large battery. Overall, very pleased with this purchase, and would highly recommend.

I've had this computer for a month now and really love it. Cant stop looking at the screen and how beatiful 4k is. I think the battery lasts me about a good 10 hours. The size and shape is awesome and everything works great as opposed to the equivalent Dell I returner prior. If I had anything negetive to say about this computer is that I wish I could configure the fan to not run as much, but I know, this is an i7 CPU and that's the price to pay for the power. I wish they had the fan vents between the hinges. You are able to configure it al ittle as I've done

Wanted to replace my 7 year old HP Pavillion with a newer computer. Purchased an Envy 360....then just 3 days later I saw this Spectra with the newest chip (10th Gen) on the pre-Black Friday deals for 1099.00. Returned the Envy and got this Spectra. No regrets....this computer is awesome in every way. Comes with the Pen (for Windows Ink) and a leather sleeve. Have found nothing whatsoever that I am displeased with. Great graphics and sound, Keystroke is very smooth and clicky, mousepad has great response, design and color is very sleek (love the finish), computer is very fast. If you are looking for the latest and greatest lineup from HP....look no further.
