Beware it crashed after 2 years
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop 2 years ago. I used almost on a daily basis and gamed on it here and there. I enjoyed it however, recently the screen went black, the charge light won't even turn and probably not worth it the money to have it looked at and repaired. My 10 year old HP laptop with Blu Ray disk still works but this only lasted 2 years.

Probably just an accidentally defective unit
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I think I got a defective unit. Appears to be a problem with the microphone and video hardware or software. The windows camera app won't record sound with the video. When making Zoom presentations, sharing videos does not work, the sound is spotty and the videos freeze, FaceBook Messenger refuses to start and puts an error message on the screen indicating "Hardware Access Error." I've done tons of research trying to find a wrong setting or something else, and have tried many trouble-shooting ideas and "workarounds" without success. I purchased GeekSquad Protection and when I called, they said they couldn't help me and that I needed to purchase a "Total Tech Support" for $199.00. I have had this computer for less than a month. Meanwhile, the Spectre x360 performs most functions quite well and quickly as long as it doesn't involve the camera and sound.

Bluetooth quit days after return period ended.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really enjoyed a lot about this laptop initially. It's fast, the touch screen is more convenient than I thought (not such a gimmick), and the sound is good. It's also sleek. But mere days after the return period ended, not even a whole week, the Bluetooth stopped working. I've never seen such egregious planned obsolescence in something I've bought at this price range. And I'd bought a nice lap desk and BT mouse to go with it. This is especially absurd considering the dumb thing has two USB ports. How can you not have a fix for Bluetooth not working on something where it's essentially a must if you ever want to use external storage? To top it off, this is also days into the COVID-19 stay-at-home order for California, so it's not like I can take it in for repair, and I need it for working at home. The timing isn't exactly a manufacturer or distributor fault, but I just imagine being a college student or busy person in general as a less extreme example. People are busy, and spending $1,500 on a laptop shouldn't get you something that loses a key feature like Bluetooth.

B-Bye HP products
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product is out of warranty, even though purchased less than 2 years ago. The battery has swollen to the point the touch pad is unable to function. I have purchased HP products for years and consequently spent well over $10,000-15,000. I am stuck with this laptop after paying $1800 less than two years ago, and HP will not even speak to me directly about any sort of resolution. I'm not alone though; the internet is filled with complaints about the battery swelling and causing the touch pad and front of the laptop to bulge. I am meeting with Geek squad today to remove the battery, as it may be dangerous to continue to use with the swollen battery. I will never purchase another HP product again. Nope, wouldn't suggest this product for anyone to purchase.

Expensive and bad cooling design
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop was more expensive than other brands and the computer heats up very fast with simple use of browser. Changing power settings do not help and there's no easy way to change CPU usage settings.

Don't purchase if you plan to hook up a monitor
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tried to connect a Samsung CH49 monitor to this laptop via the HDMI port and it does not work well at all. Everything is skewed/smooshed. I have it set to 3480x1080 just like the monitor recommends. I hook up my 2-3 year old laptop to it via a display port and it works perfect. Called Best Buy 'experts', explained it to 2 people and they couldn't help me. One guy said that because the laptop is a 4k display, I need a 4k hdmi cable to make the monitor work properly. That doesn't sound right to me. Very frustrated. Probably sending this thing back.

The laptop is awesome but Best buy is not
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Laptop is very good but best buy is extremely slow for all it's deliveries. I had to call best buy everyday for 15-20 days and email them so many times just to get my laptop delivered. And it took more than a month to arrive.

I must have gotten a lemon
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am returning this pc today because it freezes up without notice. I gave it over a month to eliminate user error. Called HP help and they said since the control-alt-delete keys do not pull up task manager after it freezes, (at least once per day), there is a major flaw and they suggested returning it to Best Buy. Only a hard boot, holding down the on switch for 15-20 seconds causes it to shut down once it's frozen. I've had a blue screen twice upon turning it on. Based on so many positive reviews, maybe I'll try a replacement, same model, depends on what the Geek Squad recommends when I return it.

Are you kidding me!!? 8 days and fail
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this for a couple of weeks now and both the fingerprint reader and facial recognition have failed. When I reviewed all the system errors I find they started failing 8 days after I setup. HP support has told me to return the unit as "the ir camera must be bad". Got the finger print to work by deleting it and letting windows reinstall. If it is my unit's IR camera why do I find this problem on the hp site SINCE 2017!! HP is aware of the problem but has done nothing to correct it. Meanwhile they keep selling claiming they have these features when they do not.

Over priced
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer is over priced and does nothing better than my old computer of 6 years. It just looks fancy but the internals are not that great for the cost. I returned this in a few days.

Issues with it randomly switching to tablet mode
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had issues with the first one randomly switching to tablet mode while using as a laptop. HP replaced it (BB wanted to repair it at 1 week old). Will see if this one performs as it should.
