Too sensitive and a bit heavy.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this computer in October 2020 and have owned it for almost a year and a half. I use it almost daily and I am having some issues. The first one is that when I am using the keyboard and writing, the cursor jumps around a paragraph or sentence. Since I am not looking at the screen part of the sentence is now in the wrong place and I have to delete what I wrote and then continue the sentence. This happens often. It is also very sensitive and passing my hand over the touch pad will cause the page to enlarge. My husband has reduced the sensitivity, but the problem continues. Generally, the machine runs hot and I am using a cooling pad. I am rating this machine average, because of these issues.

Worth the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having tried many cheaper laptops, this is the first without any quality issues. The money trade-off is well worth the time saved not having to cycle through multitudes of laptops that are bound to have some defect in build. This may be the best option for those not willing to sell a kidney for a Macbook Pro. Minor complaints: Audio "rattles" over 50% volume - seems to be a design problem as it goes away if you tilt the chassis. Having trouble recognizing my USB wireless mouse. Has some coil whine and gets crazy hot especially while gaming, even if you're playing something ancient like Half-Life 2.

Impossible to get repairs. Does not last.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop will only last you 2 good years. After that, the battery die off. There is nowhere to get repairs done. The accelerated RAM has also failed in this time. This computer will not last you for than 3 years. I suggest getting something else that has better long term hardware support.

Bad computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The computer overheats quickly. It has since warped the computer and is almost now nonfunctional. The warping has caused the track pad to pop out of the laptop and the front of the laptop to open.

Really a 4.5 but great small laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I switched to the HP after returning the dell inspiron 7300 i bought. The spectre is much better. Runs much quieter. screen looks great. Perfect size and weight. Cons are no hdmi port and was running hot when i first got it. It's the same problem I had with the Dell, but once i turned off intel's turbo boost everything has been fine. The fan will kick on but shut off as normal. I returned the Dell because the fan never stopped.

Otherwise very good laptop marred by horrendous AV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would really like this computer, except that it has what has to be the world's worst webcam. It has very low resolution and horrendous and constantly changing color casts. I literally can sit motionless in front of the camera and watch the color of the white walls behind me constantly cycle between blue and orange, while my face looks surrounded by a green cloud. In what universe is that acceptable? One large white wall space looks green on the left and purple on the right. The audio stinks, too. I can maybe understand cheap speakers in a laptop, but the microphone?? On Skype calls, the person on the other end complains that my voice sounds terrible. What was HP thinking, to put such crappy components into an otherwise magnificent computer? I would happily have paid a few more dollars for a decent webcam and microphone.

Terrible quality in new Spectres, don't buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really tried to love this laptop after wrestling with major hardware and software quality issues for over a year. My previous laptop was this same Spectre but from 2017 and it was absolutely perfect so I made the upgrade in 2020 but unfortunately the quality was not consistent so I am no longer a customer of HP- I'll be making the switch to Dell or Microsoft here soon. I actually had to return this model 2 times in the first few days because of small issues like inconsistent screen lighting or a defect in the keyboard. So after a few returns I finally got an acceptable laptop. Well, since then it always had an issue with sleeping and staying asleep but if it would stay asleep it would crash, wake up, and drain my battery by the next time I used the laptop. Extremely frustrating. This is unacceptable for a company's "top of the line" laptop. I spent hours on the phone with support updating BIOS and drivers and that still didn't solve the problem. Well then the motherboard fried 6 months after my purchase and I had to send it in for repair. 3 months after that the hard drive went bad and I had a refurbished laptop mailed to me as a replacement. After updating the BIOS and firmware again the sleep issue is still persistent so I called HP and finally got them to agree to give me a full refund so that I can buy a new brand of laptop because they've failed as a company to produce a quality product worthy of my money. I will attest that HP does have a great customer support and they honor their warranties. It's just unfortunate that what could potentially be an extremely competitive product at a fantastic price point has so many flaws that negate it as a premium laptop. You're better off sacrificing a few specs to go with something more consistent like a Surface or XPS.

Two External Monitors are NOT supported + bad cam!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro: Like other buyers' reviews, this laptop runs fast and the resolution is very good. Con should be highlighted for the potential buyers: 1) Front camera is terrible, especially the color is very weird. The color is dark with a light red background. 2) Important: HDMI can support an external monitor, but TYPE C can hardly support an external monitor. It may cause your external monitor to black screen. Also it can NOT support two external monitors (both HDMI and TYPE C) for extension. It causes two external monitors to black screens together! Disappointed.

DON'T BUY THE HP SPECTRE SAVE YOUR MONEY
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've never reviewed a product negatively but I had to write this for the HP Spectre. I bought it in Oct 2020 because of the product's features. Not even 6 months ago. I can't count how many times I've had to cold boot it for no reason. It just hangs, no warning, no rhyme nor reason. I wish I had known. It's an awfully expensive terrible product.

DO NOT BUY THIS OVERPRICED PIECE OF CRAP
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It has amazing specs, but I have never run into more problems with a pc in my life. The intel cpu is crap. It took me a month to get my applications fixed just so I could launch chrome, and I had to wipe my pc 3 times in the process. It used to perform fine gaming wise on some days, and somedays were rough, but after barely a year, I can't even run vanilla minecraft at 30 fps. I could run that game at 30 fps on a toaster but not on a $2,000 pc. The amount of random bugs that constantly break everything on my pc is awful. Over time, one by one the camera stopped working, then the fingerprint scanner. I've treated this thing like my baby, never downloaded anything remotely sketchy, and only transported it in padded laptop case inside of a backpack. I can't return back to HP because they say it's not technically a hardware problem. Please for the love of all things good DO NOT BUY THIS. If anything you could build a pc twice as good and still have enough left to buy a laptop with the 2k this costs.

Nope!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really LOVED this laptop. First, laptop I got was HP but had a white spot on the screen. I had to return it to HP and they sent me this one as a replacement. The touchpad DOES NOT WORK! The most frustrating touchpad ever. Also when I plug in a wireless mouse into the USB port the mouse bounces all over the screen. At the first I thought it was the wireless mouse, but three different mice in, and I gave up using the USB port, and needed to use the USB-C port. All the drivers are up-to-date including the bios, firmware, etc.., drove me crazy. Finally returning it to HP for a refund and getting a different brand. Such a shame too because it's such a hassle!
