Cute. Not necessarily perfect right out of the box.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a breathtaking computer. I was taken by surprise because it looks blah from the front and is called Nightfall black. It's a dark brown, or a brown-infused dark gray, with rose gold accents. It's amazing. I'm not even into looks, but it's a stunner. That said, I got the 13" and it ran perfectly but was too small. I swapped for the 15" and while I like it theoretically, the brightness buttons didn't work and the brightness slider in the control panel DIDN'T EXIST! Turns out, 2 hrs of Reddit and experimentation, that the Intel drivers were old or conflicting. Keep in mind that the HP and Windows automatic searches for new drivers said I had the newest of everything. Had i not tried it, I'd still have no brightness controls. Phew. I thought I was good but then I played sound out loud. Can't believe I haven't done that in the 2 days I've had it, but apparently either it's new or I just listening to anything. It crackles like nobody's business. I'm going to go audio driver hunting now, but I thought about what would happen I'd given this to my mother or someone less tech savvy. What a nightmare that would be. Wish me luck on that audio driver. If I can find it, this keeps 4 stars. If it doesn't fix it, I'm downgrading it all the way to 3 stars.

Early thoughts - this 2-in-1 is great!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just bought this laptop yesterday and so far so good. Nice holiday price to boot. Love the beautiful screen and great build quality. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I was able to set up the laptop and how little crapware I had to remove. This Spectre x360 has pretty much everything I wanted in a laptop.

HEAVY
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this. It is nice. Far from perfect due to the weight. Also, a little confusion with camera as the on/off switch on side totally removes it from system recognition. I think that is a good thing by the way....Anyway, I saw words such as "sleek" and "slimmed down bezels," etc. Assumed it would weigh the same as the under 4lb competition. I should have researched harder. THIS WEIGHS OVER 4.3 LBS. The weight makes it practically useless as folded tablet. It is much heavier than my (really) old 3 lb Lenovo YogaPro 2 that I am replacing. Not to mention the under three pound LG Gram, etc....

Multiple hardware issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was nice laptop but after a year and a half USB C ports, audio port and media card reader all stopped working, now I can't use my high-end wired headphones upload pictures from my DSLR camera's SD card. It was good device until it broke.

Broken and unusable within 4 years
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased in 2020 and very lightly used only to have the motherboard break. Very common according to other reviews/message boards and the cost to fix is half the cost of the already expensive laptop. Un real that this part hasn't been recalled based on the amount of issues people have with it.

Not worthed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Compared to the price, this computer is not worth buying. The screen turned black by connecting to an external monitor.

Fantastic specs and screen, terrible reliability.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The worst computer I have ever owned, period. I will start with the good. It has an amazing screen and the design if you like it is well executed. It can be very capable computationally as well. I have used it for photo editing and 3d modeling, and its speed was usable, not great but usable. The port options are good as well with two USB-c ports and a USB 3 port. The bad. I have had it for a little over a year and am on my second computer. HP replaced the original new purchase with a refurb because they couldn't replace it with a like-new computer. Annoying but, bearable, and something to keep in mind if you have trouble with one. The second computer has never been reliable either and has completely gone down recently. I have had to reload the system 5 times. And in all cases, problems returned within a month. So what are the problems? Constant but inconsistent freezing, sometimes with a blue screen sometimes not. A wide range of power, system, and driver errors are usually the given causes. It overheats doing very basic tasks and got so hot recently that it melted the adhesive holding on the rubber foot. It generally runs slow even after reboots and after new OS installs. Sometimes it is hard to say what the problem is as it just goes black? I don't run anything beyond Adobe, Autodesk, and Microsoft products. All the installs I have run on this computer run fin on other older, weaker spec-ed computers in my household. While I occasionally do processor-heavy tasks that should be well within its specs I usually just used it for basic work. It has been very well taken care of and cleaned regularly. I hold little hope that when it returns it will be reliable or useful for very long. I can accept the possibility that I got one lemon but two in a row gives me pause. These computers have completely destroyed my faith in HP. To add insult to injury HP's customer service while occasionally excellent has mostly been unbelievably bad. Final note, I work with technology for a living. I generally build and maintain my own computers (the windows PC's anyway). I spent 10 years doing IT work and teach technology. I have a pretty good understanding of computers. However, I have handled issues with this computer through HP's assistant software and tech support. Because I didn't build it and it is their product to support. This is the last HP I will ever buy.
