only to go online
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my son. It even has a game app loaded in the system. But, you literally cannot download not even ONE game. Not even a solitaire game. This is the worst purchase I ever made. AND they would not refund my money they would only do a trade in JUNK

Great laptop for school
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the HP Stream 13 Touch Screen laptop because I returned to school and needed a reliable laptop to use for all of my online classes. The laptop performs very well, and the touchscreen is a surprisingly useful feature. Many problems I complete are multiple choice or in drop down menu form. The touchscreen is perfect for this situation. I have streamed Netflix, Prime and YouTube with no issues as well. The built in speakers have plenty of volume to work with. I've had other laptops that were difficult to hear over the computer's own built in fan. On that point, I want to note there is no fan in this machine. There is no need for one because of the SSD hard drive. The computer boots in less than 15 seconds from a cold start, and booting is instantaneous from sleep. The SSD hard drive makes startup a dream. The only draw back to the hard drive is it's size. It only has a 32gb drive, almost half of which is taken up by WIndows 8.1. After installing Microsoft Office, you've taken up another 4 gigs or so. The hard drive is not upgradeable, so you will have to by some flash memory. I picked up a 64 gb card for $40 when I bought the computer. That should be plenty of space for awhile. In summary, if you need a simple machine for school, streaming movies and updating your status, the HP Stream is a great machine. If you're a gamer, or are rendering large pictures or graphics, look somewhere else. I would highly recommend this to a student or first time Windows 8.1 user. The touchscreen interface makes 8.1 very intuitive.

Very basic computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this computer in 10/19/15 and had so much trouble with the start up and storage I had to take it into the Geek Squad three times. Because of these issues it was a month later before it finally worked correctly and I could use it.

Good computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was sold the laptop saying it didn't have Microsoft office when it did. The person who sold it said it didn't and so I had to but the Microsoft office when I didn't need it. So I wasted money for a employee not knowing the facts.

Great bang for the buck. Perfect!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this HP Stream 13 with touch screen on sale at BestBuy for $279.00. I have been using it for two weeks now and couldn't be happier. When I first bought it I immediately uninstalled most of the bloatware. Got rid of McAfee as it just bogs it down. The built in Microsoft Security Essentials is all you need. I added a 64GB SDCard and set it up as a mounted drive so I can install programs directly to the SDCard so I can save HD space. I also moved my Onedrive to the SDCard to save even more space. I uninstalled the pre-loaded MS Office because I already have a MS Office 365 Subscription. I then installed Office 365 through my account. I did install Office to the hard drive instead of the SDCard. I also installed several other programs to the SDCard and they all open quick and run fast and smooth. I have about 9GB of space left on the hard drive. I must say the touch screen is smooth and responsive. Track pad works great too. This laptop performs really well for me. I run a few apps, use Office programs and surf the net and this PC does all that perfectly. I let my wife try it and she liked it better than her heavy more expensive 15.6" laptop and she really liked the lighter weight and the 13" screen is great. She liked it so much I had to go buy one for her. We both highly recommend it. If you want to install programs to the SDCard just google "How to save space on HP Stream" and you will find the instructions. It is very easy to do.

Not as expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop was not able to connect without a wifi connection. Advertised to be able to connect anywhere there was a cell connection. So, returned it and upgraded to a much better laptop.

It's "OK" for BASIC use, nothing more.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a basic computer that will allow me to type up notes, emails and let me watch videos without lags. I own a 15'' Macbook Pro, but that computer is too bulky to take on business trips. So after many research, I decided to get the HP Stream 13. It's a decent computer for the price, but it definitely has a few short comings. Pros: 1) Great price *Especially with BestBuy's lowest price matching program. 2) Sturdy hardware. It's better built than most of its Acer counterparts. I can put some pressure on the laptop without having to worry that it'll break. 3) Full size keyboards for comfortable typing. 4) Great sounds for a $200~ computer. 5) Windows 8.1 Cons: 1) Actual flash storage is less than 20GB instead of the 32GB as promised by the time you run Windows 8.1 during initial activation. 2) Surfing the web/watching videos will make the computer very hot. For business purposes, I access a lot of websites that have tons of flash images on them. Watching any videos on youtube or dailymotion will make the computer SUPER hot. I have to put a cooling sheet beneath the computer so it won't over heat. (Which makes me question the lifespan of this computer). 3) Crapware. HP loads the computer with tons of "default" apps that are pretty much useless and takes up tons of space. It took me about 1 hour to remove the ones I don't need to free up storage space and CPU usage. 4) Intel Celeron. Because of the cheap processor, basic tasks like websurfing/video streaming/multitasking will take up A LOT of CPU. Even after some software customization, CPU performance is "decent". 5) Display is average at it's best even after customize tuning. The computer is a great computer if all you do is to check emails and read articles online. Don't expect this to be perfect for anything more.

You get what you pay for
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.SLOW machine! Spend more to get more! And a Apple user, I wanted a simple Windows machine to use. Mistake. I should just stick with the best and not branch out.
