I switched over to the Honor 8 because my iPhone 6 Plus broke and I didn't want to purchase another iPhone until apple upped their game. I have to say I am loving this phone a lot. It has an amazing screen, battery, and premium look and feel.

Smartphone is good, support is awful!

The smartphone is really good, has only 1 disadvantage - it's very slippy. After 29 days after purchase, it was dropped by itself from my desk and a back cover was cracked. I spent a few weeks while they was thinking if it warranty case or not. In any case repair may take 14 days, that is too much as for me. In the end a support just sent me a link with cost a repair. Just wasted my time.

    Terrible after-sale service

I bought this Honor 8 three weeks before. It came with a 3 months of screen protection. The phone is very slippy. The phone dropped to the floor and its front glass cracked 2 weeks before. Then I called Honor's service number to claim the glass cracked. They confirmed Honor will replace it with charge free even the free 2-way shipping. I sounded great! I got an email from Honor asked me reply the email with the phone's pictures and call them to confirm. I did send out the pics and called back. They told me I would receive another email sending me a shipping label. I need to print it out and drop off the phone at an UPS store. I waited for 1 day. They sent me an email asked me for the purchase receipt and call them back to confirm. Why did not they ask me for it in the first email or phone call? OK, I sent out the receipt pic then called them again. The operator confirmed the receipt was valid, told me I would received the email of shipping label in 24 hours. I waited to the next day. No email. I called them again. This is the fourth call! The operator told me their shipment department was handling this case, and told me again "The email for the shipping label will be sent to you in 24 hours". Now, more 72 hours passed. I still have not received the email! I should have returned the phone by 14 days!

We are happy to hear that you consider the Honor 8 a great phone for the price. Also, you are correct that you unfortunately cannot save apps to an SD card only data. Also we suggest that you clear the caches in settings>select the app you want to clear>then select clear cache. This should help you connect to WIFI quicker. Also, your phone does have WIFI direct if there are other compatible devices present. You just have to go to settings>WIFI>and then select WIFI direct. The camera has 12 megapixels and is equipped with autofocus which ,if utilized correctly, could definitely enhance the video quality. Also, with it's GPS feature, the Honor 8 tries to ensure the greatest accuracy which is why when the GPS feature is turned on it checks for the phone's position quite often. We apologize for any inconvenience these cons may have caused you, and we are happy to hear that you consider the Honor 8 a great phone for the price and got a good deal on it. Good Performance, Horrible Quality Control..

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased the Honor 8 in Sapphire Blue earlier today. Setup was quick and easy compared to other Android phones I have tried. Performance is snappy, and the display is more than fine for a 1080p display. It's a shame that Best Buy does not currently carry any cases or screen protectors for this model, as the glass panels on the front and back of the phone make it incredibly slippery, not to mention a fingerprint magnet. As much as I really like this phone, I'm going to have to give it only one star thanks to the horrible quality control. The phone I got had a nasty little nick in the beautiful Sapphire blue chamfered edge below the power button, showing the silver metal below the paint that lights up like the north star every time light hits it. I know I can go back to the store and exchange it, but I really shouldn't have to deal with such a hassle with a brand new phone out of the box. Shame..

    Avoid Huawei at all Costs

Absolute garbage customer service. The level of ineptitude is astounding. The level of incredulity only mounts when you have situations like calling when the office opens at 7 am central time and not getting through because "the offices are closed at this time." The only reason Huawei customer service isn't the worst I have ever dealt with is because I have also had to deal with CenturyLink. Huawei may have cleared that very low bar, but the company's inability to process even a simple warranty repair is just incredible. It took the company 16 days and 5 attempts on my part to process the return. The supervisor that I finally got a hold of refused to take any accountability and provide any level of compensation for the trouble, which was considerable given that I needed my phone back before a trip and that no longer seems possible. That brings me to the return policy of the company. You may have a phone under warranty coverage, but this company handles such coverage in such an archaic and asinine way that you are almost better off not having the warranty. You have to turn your phone in, wait 10 days without a phone, and then they'll send it back to you. I will never be purchasing or condoning the purchasing of another Huawei product. Plenty of other cell phone companies are out there and are almost guaranteed to handle situations between than Huawei seems to be able to.

Very disappointing where are the security patches

While the phone hardware and feel are great the big problem is the company. It took till feb to get the update to android 7 (EMUI 5.0) it was a total disappointment compared to the older version that worked very smoothly and great, the new software has slowed the phone and it has many bugs that are really need to be addressed such as the problem with ok google aud the problem off apps shutting down without any reason this never happen on the earlier EMUI, but it appears Huawei do not care. The biggest risk with this phone are the security updates they released the update for EMUI 5 in february but the security updates are still from december and now my company will not let me use the phone because the security updates so the phone became totally useless and I am not about to use two phones.

Hi Eduardo, thanks for the 5 stars. The Honor 8 is unlocked due to the fact that you are not locked into a carrier with purchasing it. However, it has been designed to work primarily with the GSM networks in the United States. Below are a list of the bands supported by the Honor 8. You can check with your current carrier to see if it will work for your location. (DM)

I pre-ordered the new Honor 8 and i was very excited for it as well. After receiving the phone it started to freeze and crash constantly, apps were not responsive and overall the entire phone felt bogged down. Im assuming it was due to Honors own spin on software. I returned the phone the next day and did not want to give it a second chance. The way i see it is if the phone is glitchy out of the box i may as well return it while i can before im stuck with a glichy phone for who knows how long. Overall im disappointed, i was very excited for this phone and it didn't work out.

Hello, we're sorry to hear you had difficulties with the Honor 8's processor and overall software speed. The Honor 8 is powered by an octa-core CPU @4x2.3GHz + 4x1.8GHz built on a 16nm architecture. 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM enable flawless multitasking and seamless gaming. The CPU chipset contains an i5 co-processor (similar to that of a PC), which controls the Honor 8’s sensors and other features. The i5 co-processor works together with the Kirin 950 SoC chipset to increase processing speed, response time, and battery life. Again, we apologize for the issue and hope you will reconsider Honor in the future. (NS) HuaweiCustomerCare

Am looking to buy a reasonable priced phone, I read the reviews here and am impressed, so I checked some reviews by the experts, they didn't have much good to say about it, camera is ok in good light but the video is very poor quality, no ois, very frail, easily cracked back. Honor has a far way to go to compete. Makes me wonder about the reviews here, maybe they don't post the not so good ones.

WORST service. I bought this phone for 3 weeks from now, accidentally dropped it, and the back screen is broken. Huawei Promises three months of screen protection for free. When I called the service last week, they told me that I need took several pictures of my broken back screen to decided if they can repair this phone or not. And couple days later, they called me back and told me I also need to take a photo of receipt to verify I bought this phone in US. Why Huawei need so many progresses to fix a simply question? and so many excuses for not fixing your phone. Three months of screen protection for free is a joke. So mad by now, and wont recommend this phone to any of my friend.
