I left Apple for this one it is probably the best device even for the iPhone 7 Plus or the Samsung galaxy edge the battery lasts almost 2 days the screen is superbly bright… Get it you will never regret it it is awesome

Superb little computer with phone functionality! The signal reception is tested as the best, the camera is absolute quality, the CPU is making everything go blazing fast, and screen is very bright. Battery life is awesome, can hold the power up to 2 days easily. Total quality! I really love this phone!

I used my iphon5s over 3 years and I decide to move to an android phone. So far huawei is a wise choice. A much bigger screen, lower price and awesome camera performance.

So happy to own this Mate 9 US version with US warranty. I used Mate 8 unlocked international version, and has been eagerly waiting for this wonderful tool for my daily life. Ordered online, rushed to downtown San Francisco to pick up before the store close at 0900 pm. Definitely Recommend it to everyone who has been tired of Samsung and iphone. Bought from BB 9 months ago. Great battery, very fast charging, perfect fingerprint sensor, pretty good camera, very little bloatware. 4 stars because of very slow, updates (Finally got OREO 4 months after it was promised), Works fine with ATT SIM, but be aware, that not all CDMA carriers show Mate 9 as compatible. Be sure to check.

This camera is solid! The dual camera allows you to adjust the aperture of the pictures AFTER you already took them. That means you can adjust how blurry you want the out of focus things in the background, wow! No flaws so far. Everything is fast and audio is great. No bloatware. Why anyone buys a Samsung or Apple flagship for 2x is beyond me. This thing is great.

Best phone, best price, best battery hands down!!!!

Excellent overall, I can't ask for a better, all day battery (15 hours, extensive use). Only 1 down side, I bought the phone 3 weeks ago and it went on sale $100 less and I don't get the Insignia stand :(

The packaging is great, very sleek (i like a good presentation) and gives a full phone experience, as it comes with a charger and usb-c cable, headphones, a USB-c adapter (micro usb to usb-c) as well as a screen protector already pre-installed...(MAJOR WIN for me here) and a back cover case (zero protection, it covers the back, but hey it's included so AWESOME!) The phone is big, its 5.9 inch display is noticeable in the hand but it's not something one can't get used to. The metal housing makes it feel really sturdy, like bigger brand phones. Technical specs-wise, this phone is great. 64gb/4gb RAM, octo-core processor... The resolution (on paper) isn't the best, but it doesn't look inferior. I have an Samsung s7edge, and side by side, it looks almost identical watching the same video on max brightness. The UI is ok, i'm still getting used to it, but it looks close to stock android. (this ships with OS7.0 which is great) Little gestures and smart assistance are fun to use (like knock to take a screenshot, or knuckle swipe across gives split screen for 2 apps) I've only had this overnight, but great first impressions here

I wrote a review on this phone earlier and want to just update one thing. The phone is AMAZING. Huawei is by far top quality. I not only wrote a review on how amazing both their phone and watch are, but I wrote an article for my tech blog on both the watch and phone. However, and this is a biggie.....Don't bother getting Geek Squad protection for it. It's absolutely worthless. I've had the phone less than a month and unfortunately the screen broke. I took it in for repair or replacement and was told that I wouldn't receive a replacement until a minimum of 5 days because it's on backorder and if after 7 days they still don't have it, I would get an email with a gift card to get a new one. They make zero exceptions or provisions for situations like this despite them being fully stocked at the store. It would be of great benefit to Huawei if they started partnering with large providers like AT&T, being that they have much better insurance for phones.

Was looking to different product, when the best buy sales agent approached and told all the great things Huwaei Mate 9. One first look itself found. Instant attraction, solidly build with excellent picture and sound quality. Type C USB with Android Nougat and expandable memory makes this phone standout among others in the competition. Would definitely encourage others.

Absolute garbage customer service. The level of ineptitude is astounding. The level of incredulity only mounts when you have situations like calling when the office opens at 7 am central time and not getting through because "the offices are closed at this time." The only reason Huawei customer service isn't the worst I have ever dealt with is because I have also had to deal with CenturyLink. Huawei may have cleared that very low bar, but the company's inability to process even a simple warranty repair is just incredible. It took the company 16 days and 5 attempts on my part to process the return. The supervisor that I finally got a hold of refused to take any accountability and provide any level of compensation for the trouble, which was considerable given that I needed my phone back before a trip and that no longer seems possible. That brings me to the return policy of the company. You may have a phone under warranty coverage, but this company handles such coverage in such an archaic and asinine way that you are almost better off not having the warranty. You have to turn your phone in, wait 10 days without a phone, and then they'll send it back to you. I will never be purchasing or condoning the purchasing of another Huawei product. Plenty of other cell phone companies are out there and are almost guaranteed to handle situations between than Huawei seems to be able to.

I purchased my Mate 9 just under two months ago. Despite some usability quirks it had been a very good phone and I did not regret the purchase at all. Today the phone crashed hard and entered into a boot loop. I tried to use the supplied Huawei software to restore the phone. The Huawei restore software only works on two devices, both tablets. I took the phone back to Best Buy with hopes that the Geek Squad would be able to fix it under warranty. The phone is, in fact, under warranty, but The Geek Squad is not a Huawei certified repair center. I was told to contact Huawei. I called Huawei who informed me that they only have one repair center and I would have to take a picture of my phone from all six sides, email the pictures to them for review after which they would send me shipping labels for my phone which would be fixed and returned in 7 - 10 days. Is your cell phone your only camera? Sorry. Is your cell phone your only phone? Sorry. On technical merits this phone is one of the best I've ever had. It really does punch above its weight class and the black and white pictures it produces are nothing short of stunning. But if you really depend on your phone, I would avoid this given Huawei's near non-existent US support infrastructure.

TLDR: good, not great phone with some really bad freezing hitches. I bought this phone in July 2017 as my Samsung Note 5 started to break down. I didn't want bloatware nor wanted to go to my carrier's store and have to have a monthly plan for the phone (and deal with their customer service reps) so I decided on this phone. First, I'll say the storage comes in handy and the phone is as advertised. My biggest complaints with the phones are in this order: 1) Screen resolution 2) Camera 3) RAM/OS The screen resolution is 1080p, which should be standard, but compared to my Note 5, the colors look too faded out and worn. There's a dullness to the pictures that can be jarring and there's not enough lighting in the background so to me everything looks flat. The camera works as intended, but does not take the greatest of pictures. Be prepared for that if you want to take family pics. The RAM/OS is the single biggest issue I have with this phone. The phone started working very fast, but if I switch between apps, or go from one app to the home screen, the phone slows down so much that it literally will FREEZE in between. I'm talking like 10-20 seconds at least. If I go from Youtube and try to go back to the home screen, the phone will just stay frozen and I have to either push the power button to unlock the screen again, or wait until it refreshes. This review is long, but in summary, it's a good unlocked phone if you don't wanna deal with the Samsungs or LG's. But I wouldn't recommend this phone, especially with a hefty price tag like this one has.

Think twice before you buy any Huawei phones Beware with Huawei customer support if you needing a service within warranty for the phone they are the worst of all. Sent my phone for an issue with charging port burnt no status no update they have totally disconnected system with the service center and no way to track. Spoke to supervisor several time same answer from the supervisor they will escalate prioritize and they say i will get a call from the service center/corporate office about the status of the phone. Every week I call them same answer till date no update so I did some research and found in bbb.org there are several complaints about the Huawei it’s the same issue for every customer who sent their phone for repairs, they have been waiting for over 3 months this seems to be ridiculous customer support. Update after 4 months: still the customer service have no clue. have to go for small claims court. huawei would know how much it will cost to them now.

Good phone had been for 4 years now, good battery life.

Just bought Huawei Mate 9 this afternoon from best buy. Overall experience with it is good. Would not repeat the good points here, since you would find them in a lot of review articles somewhere else. However, I do have a grudge. The Email app doesn't work. I tried to set up my yahoo email account with the Email app, filling with my correct email username and password, but it always says the IMAP/SMTP server is disabled. I tried to go over all the possible places to set up/enable IMAP/SMTP servers, all in vain. Finally, I called the company's customer service. The customer service person told me that it is an known issue. Currently, the Email app is good for nothing, except for gmail. Yet, I have the generic gmail app right from google, no need to configure it in Email app. I want to use the Email app to configure and set up my other email accounts. But this is right the area where Email app fails. Worse, I asked about if the developers have a plan for a possible fix for this "known issue". The customer service representative told me he didn't know of any plan to fix it. The last straw on the camel's back is that, I can accept the fact that the app doesn't work. But, if it doesn't work, at least please give me an option to uninstall it. Regrettably, it can't be uninstalled.

Bought the device on launch day, was excited to get it, but....one thing I was disappointed about was, there is no "Trusted Places" setting, which I thought was a standard Android feature. The only way you can unlock the the phone without a password or fingerprint, is to have a bluetooth device paired with it. Also, the battery optimization feature is nothing more than a fancy app killer. You really have to be careful about which apps you optimize ie: widgets, or they cease to function, and you have to reboot the phone. The camera is about average, with a ton of settings, which can get confusing, but it serves it's purpose. Huawei really nailed it with the battery. You have to really work at killing the battery in one day. Long story short, the Mate 9 is a solid phone, but is very heavily skinned with Huawei's EMUI 5.0. Huge display, and very bright. Unless you have microscopes for eyes, the FHD display looks every bit as good as any QHD I've seen.

I bought an open box unit discounted about $49 off of the retail price. The condition of the items were in new to excellent condition as advertised, but I noticed that the headset was missing from the box despite the product description and a special label on the box stating "no missing accessories". My take away from this purchase is to use extra caution when buying open box items!
