This is not the best solution (for me). The device does not stay in place that well as you would like it to. If you have a protective case on your Mac - then it will be difficult if not impossible to plug this in. You may want to look for another solution that uses a cable, instead direct plug connection. Other than that, the idea behind it fine and functionality as advertised.

I purchased this to simply add input functionality to my Mac. While the plug is a bit kludgy, if it becomes too wonky, I will attach a USB C male to female cable to the port and let it rip.

It gets a4 because of added weight it gets quite warm and just seems like it makes it easier to damage it or the computer.

Not really a docking station, delicate mechanical

While I overall appreciate the ports s that this Port expander brings, I think calling it a "docking station" Is a bit of a stretch. The mechanical solution doesn't work on my laptop at all and so it feels quite fragile when I'm trying to hook up multiple cables to it. Also, because it doesn't have an extension cable, it blocks all of the other connectors on that side of my laptop. additionally, when I tried to use the output usb-c output connector, it doesn't work with my monitor.

Essential for connecting SD cards, jump drives and disc drives to MacBook Air that only has USB-C slots. A little cumbersome, but does the job. Price was reasonable.

It does it’s job, just don’t touch it. At least for my MacBook Pro the connection seems loose all the time and it’s easy from drives or the video to become disconnected. I went for the cheaper option and now I know why it’s cheaper. Overall, still works - I just have to be mindful of how active I’m being while using it.

Certainly necessary for a MacBook if you want to use an additional monitor, regular USB ports or SD cards. Card slots are a little difficult to use and if you want a sturdy connection for HDMI (using the headset jack) the device is pointing in the wrong direction. It's also a little spendy but with Apple setting the price of their products the retailers must make their profits off of accessories.

works exactly the way it was intended to work. definitely plug it in on the right side of the mac so you can use the headset jack to support it, otherwise, it will flop around till it breaks off if you don't.
