This headset is very nice. Have been using it for about 1-2 months now. At First I thought the sound quality was bad but once I watched how to set up the headsets different audio sets it was good to go. Very comfortable and good sound. Only downside is the built in mic.

I like these headphones. The microphone does its job well - including noise cancellation. There could be some improvement on NC but it's not why I've marked off a star. These headphones fit REALLY tight. Longer recording sessions (an hour or longer really) and your ear lobes are likely going to start feeling it. This could be fixed by HyperX by them adding about a half inch of foam to their included ear cups, something that would cost them very little to do. The sound stage on these could be more open. Especially at the price point. They do sound nice, though a little weak on the bass if you ask me (even with the sliders opened all the way up). That said, I am used to 50mm drivers so the step down to 40mm does make a difference. Other than being soft on the bass, these do in fact have good sound. You can hear more than if you were to go buy a cheap pair of headphones off of Amazon. Oh, on fitment of these. If you wear glasses, you may want to invest in angled earcups for these, especially if your glasses are on the bigger side. After about 4 hours of having these on your skull (with the OEM earcups) the ends of your glasses behind your ears is going to be in quite a bit of pain the moment you take them off. It's happened to me a couple of times. Overall, if you have a medium or smaller sized jug or don't mind having your head be gripped tight, I would recommend these. If you are susceptible to headaches due to pressure, stay away!

Overall, this product is great, and sound-quality is pretty awesome. However, the chat-mixer cable (which connects from the headset to your gaming device, via USB) is fairly low quality. I've had to replace this cable after a year or less. However, you can bypass the use of the chat/surround-sound cable entirely and simply use the standard audio cable to plug directly into your PlayStation controller, but you end up losing the surround sound and ability to mute your mic. I've had these headphones for about 2 years and they're still going strong. They are also great at external noise canceling (aka: not being able to hear my wife as she yells, "STOP PLAYING VIDEO GAMES!!!"...can't hear a thing other than my games.

If you are looking at this headset then you might be considering the Logitech G Pro as well. I bought the Logitech first, only to find that my left ear would suffer due to lack of foam on the inner ear cup... is what I guess you would call it? The foam covering the speaker is what I getting at, makes HyperX headsets very comfortable. Especially since the Alpha S has less Clamping force than the Logitech, I think you would be happy. For sound, Both of these headsets sound better for surround sound or positioning where things are than the Cloud 2. I used the Cloud 2 for 4 years until the mic broke and out of the three I prefer it for music. I personally prefer the Alpha S over the G Pro because of the bass sliders. I can tell a difference and I enjoy it. The bass sliders unintentially relieve any cabin pressure is what I think they refer to it as, so if that bothers you and you want the advantages of leatherette earcups here you go.

The comfort is the number one thing I can say about this product, it lives up to the hype as far as comfort is concerned. Two choices of colorways, black or blue. I currently use the blue colorway, my fiancee just got the black one which also looks really good in my opinion. You get two sets of ear pads which you can choose to use based on your personal preference. The build quality is good, no issues. Overall a good quality product you won't be disappointed with. Sound quality can be subjective to the user. I think they should great. The bass sliders I don't play with, I just left them the way they came and haven't had a shred to complain about as far as sound quality goes. The microphone is perfectly fine, it's not going to sound the same as a studio condenser microphone, but it gets the job done no problem. You can also activate microphone side tone using the usb controller if that's an option you like to use. Cable length is very generous and should accommodate all users.

These are fantastic for the price. I'd give it 5 stars but the volume control and amounts for both the mic and the headset are a tad bit weak. They could be better. Also, the cord could be longer.

*Disclaimer, This headset DOES work for both console and PC, with the 3.5mm jack used for the console, and the 3.5mm jack or USB mixer for PC.* Decided to pick these up after building a new gaming PC and I’m glad I did. The headset has a great dynamic range for half the price of some “premium gaming headsets”, with little to no dropoff in terms of gaming. Upgrading to these from Astro A10’s was a great choice, although for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare/Warzone, and other footstep-dependent games, you may need to play with the audio presets a bit, as this headset does come more high-end frequency-based than some other headsets on the market. Also, it isn’t a huge deal because that’s the price you pay for a wired headset, but the headset-mixer wire and the mixer-PC wire do tend to get tangled pretty easily and can become annoying. The mixer is pretty handy, although I personally do not use the 7.1 Surround Sound when gaming. Overall, I definitely recommend these.

This headset gave me a bit of trouble at the beginning, but not due to the quality of the build. Make sure you download the drivers found on the hyperx website (just google "hyperx ngenuity" spelled exactly like that) and your headset will actually sound decent. Unlike the Cloud2's, these do not come with the drivers preinstalled and to optimize them for your PC you must download the drivers. The 7.1 is amazing, but since support for 7.1 surround sound is still sparce it may sound a bit odd compared to your prior headsets. The sound quality is amazing and the build is impeccable as always, all credit to hyperx once again.

These headphones are awesome! They are solidly built with a metallic frame but are lightweight and comfortable enough to wear all day. The sound is excellent -- rich, full spectrum reproduction without any holes in any frequency band -- full bass without being muddy. The microphone works well and the puck is handy for controlling things like muting, volume, etc. It comes with a long, durable cord -- no extension was needed in my configuration. Even came complete with an extra set of ear cushions and a carrying bag.

You might think the price is a little hit for a headset, but you get what you pay for! I love my new HyperX. It is so comfortable I could wear it all day (and sometimes do)! The sound is incredible! Especially if I put my old headphones back on, the difference is huge. I definitely recommend treating yourself to these. The chat mixer is an added bonus, I don't have to fidget with the mic if I want to mute myself, there is a nifty button right on the remote. The mic is also detachable which comes in handy when I just want to listen to music or watch videos.

I researched SEVERAL gaming headsets around the $100 range. Instore these were the most comfortable I found. Based on some features and online reviews, I actually purchased another brand. They were comfortable as well, but when I got them home, they were stiff and not as flexible. I also found the overall sound was great but I could not determine direction from the sounds while gaming. I returned those and bought the Hyper X Cloud S. The Hyper X was just as comfortable at home as the demo pair in the store. THE MOST comfortable of all the ones I tried. After hours of gaming I forget they are even on. The software leaves a little to be desired, however the sound is great. Most of all, I am able to hear directional footsteps and sound as in CODMW. The base could be a little stronger but I am talking about an 8 out of 10 in the base range. Still more than acceptable. I found no major issues with mic and I am told I sound very clear with no distortion. I have not used the Sidetone feature as of yet. I have used various headphones over the years; Turtle Beach, Logitech, Astro etc. The Hyper X Cloud S is great overall and at a decent price point, if you can grab them on sale as I did. These are my preferred headphones in my collection.

I got this to replace a Logitech G35 that I have for a really long time. This headset is more comfortable than the G35. I wish the ear cups were a tiny bit deeper - I can feel my ears touching the inside of the ear cups for the first few minutes of wearing them. The sound is very good and having the Chat Mixer in-line on the cord is convenient. The bass adjuster works better than I expected also. I got these when they were a Deal of the Day and I think they are a very good value if you can get them on sale.

I use this primarily on PC, but also on PS4. The best part is how comfortable these are. The padded ear cushions are very soft. They also fit completely around my ears, which was surprising. I've never had that happen, since I'm a fairly big guy. The sound is great to my ears, but I don't have much of a frame of reference. At this point there are a lot of HyperX headsets and everyone's always arguing online about this one's better than that one or no, this one's better, etc. This is my first HyperX, so I can't actually compare it to previous models. All I know is that it sounds good and clear to me. Other headsets I've owned are the Arctis 3 and Arctis Pro. Obviously, the Cloud Alpha S doesn't sound as good as the Arctis Pro, but on the plus side you don't have to deal with SteelSeries' non-existant tech support when something does inevitably go wrong. The 7.1 VSS is good in some games, but not in others. You basically just have to try out for yourself. My only gripe would that I wish they gave you more customization control within the NGenuity app. I suppose that's not really necessary, though, as you can always use Dolby Atmos for Headphones or Equalizer APO + Peace EQ.
