Didnt work
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought this would make my picture libraries easier to keep track of as Google's big batches I save mix up pictures but I could never get this to work at all. Seemed like a step up from just saving on regular external hard drives.

Nice Personal Cloud, required App needs work
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Its nice to have my own personal "Cloud" that the rest of my family (or friends) can store their photos and videos on. And the 1TB of San Disk storage has plenty of room for all but the biggest selfie generators in your household. The trouble seems to be the app that you need to use. The IBI app looks nice and is sort of easy to navigate. Yet, it is confusing for me to know what actually makes it to the IBI device(cloud) and what content is just native to my phone. Seems the folders I selected are not the only pictures it copied to the cloud. All the album art for mp3 files and pictures I took for selling on ebay also showed up. When I deleted what I thought was files on the IBI by logging into the device from a PC. They showed up again an hour later with many duplicates. Guess delete only works from my phone were the original files reside(?). While there is info on the internet and the app, there is next to nothing in the box to help you use this device other than a card to say: plug it and download app. While I have been able to access my files from my PC and phone. I cant use my fairly robust tablet using the IBI app. The app crashes after entering login info. I quit trying after 6 attempts. Overall the device seems good, but the app might be the weak link for me. Quite possible I am missing something obvious. Although, many of my friends and family ask for my knowledge to help them when they need help with the tech they can't understand. And if I am getting lost using this devices app. I think the learning curve might be a bit steep for the average consumer. YMMV

Do not purchase this!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Failed out of the box. Was never able to connect to the device at all. Too bad I didn't try to set this up right away, and missed my 15 day return window. Glad I only paid the clearance price and not full price. Don't waste your money!

Great solution to a common problem
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ibi was extremely easy to configure out of the box and with a few settings in the Android version of the app, my phone and social media accounts were backing my pictures and videos to the Ibi. If you have RAW images, such as photos from a DSLR or the like, you may have to manually copy them to the Ibi. The Windows version of the Ibi software offers a couple options to manage your files, one of them using Windows "File Explorer". Ease of use and simplicity are what you will find here. The setup is very user friendly and I really didn't hit any snags. You can set the Ibi up anywhere (except maybe the top of a speaker), and since it uses Wifi, it doesn't have to tie up cabled connection to the router. It uses passive cooling, so no fan noises to listen to. But if you have sensitive hearing, you may not want to keep in your bedroom if you are a light sleeper, as the HDD is normally spinning all the time. I would definitely recommend this to people whom have large and unruly photo collections that they need to centralize. Great product and a great idea.

Dump it
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Poor hardware probably couldn’t even get it hooked up it kept saying there was an error but this seems to be what everybody else is getting too if you pull it up online you can see that there’s many problems connecting it

Save your money and your time
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awful!!!!!!!! You literally have to pic each photo individually to drop there. When you have thousands on each devise this would take devoted time of days and days which few have in today's world. Not convenient at all.

Not yet there, but could be good-to-great
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been alternately fascinated and frustrated by the Ibi smart photo manager in the 10 days I've been using it. The thing is a commodity laptop hard-drive attached to a little logic board, inside a decent-looking white plastic tubular housing. It basically does what Google Photos does, in that I pay Google a couple bucks a month to backup all the photos my wife and I take on our phones, which we can then organize, edit and share from Google to others. Ibi, though, is a $120 device, with nothing else to pay ever (it seems), and keeps your photos in your own cloistered little space, which you can share with only those you deem worthy. So is it worth it? Mayyybe. Setup was relatively a breeze, and after plugging the thing in, I had it backing up the photos on my Android phone within a couple minutes. But wait—what photos was it backing up? I toggled between the DCIM folder, the pictures folder and a couple others, not sure exactly where the bulk of my camera pictures were located. Finally I settled on DCIM, and then... nothing. It didn't seem like much was being backed up, except some photos from last summer. I went to bed and left Ibi alone. The next day, I realized the app had stalled somehow and was stuck on "preparing backup," so I restarted it and re-opened the Ibi app. Success! After an hour or so, I had backups of all the 2,000+ photos on my phone. OK neat, now what? I Invited my wife to my Ibi "Inner Circle", and added her as a collaborator on a folder for a holiday celebration we'd both taken shots during. She accepted my friend request and was met with a similar process. Ibi was also set to auto-backup all the photos on her phone. The shared photo album we can collaborate on allows us each to add photos, then organizes them by date and time taken. We can each add descriptions to the photos and album, and anyone else in our "Inner Circles" can "like" and comment on the photos we share. Here's where Ibi feels a little weird. She has all her photos backed up on my Ibi, and I have all mine, but they're separate unless we explicitly share them. This gives us the option to create folders we can both see and add photos to, or create folders we alone control but want to simply share as-is. I can also add more family members to our Ibi, each with their own photo backups and ability to share photos and folders with the "Inner Circle" set up on the Ibi device. As far as I can tell from some significant looking, you can't stop people you invite to your Ibi from backing up all their photos. You can't set up, say, a maximum amount of space they can have of the device. You *can*, however, simply share a view-only link to an album you create with anyone you know. When you get an Ibi link, you can see all the photos and descriptions the album owner added, but none of the comments and "likes." So basically anyone you invite to your Ibi can add as many photos of whatever type, size, or description to their own personal folders, even taking up the entire storage capability of the device, if they feel like it. They can also see any photos you share with them, and share their own photos and folders. It's kind of like a personal instagram. Ibi also offers apps for smart home devices like Roku, Apple TV and Fire TV, which can show you photos on your Ibi, play slideshows, etc. \ The whole thing feels about one iteration away from a great solution for families. If there were slightly more administrative controls and a slightly smoother onboarding experience, I'd add at least 1 star to this review. I'd add another if the sharing, commenting, and "inner circling" felt smoother and more polished. As it is, Ibi is an intriguing concept and reasonably usable. I'm intrigued enough to try to get other family members on board, but probably not unless we're sitting in the same room to ease the transition. The good news is, the flaws I've pointed out are essentially a couple software updates away, so perhaps Ibi will figure it out and next year at this time, earn a 5-star review from the likes of me.
