Like having your own 1 TB cloud storage
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It came with minimal instructions, just the way to download the app. However, once you do that it sets up in a minute, with no trouble, I have been using it to back up and store photos just from my phone. It can backup or store to share pictures or videos from not only your phone but also images on your computer. I have not used it for video yet. I like that it does it all automatically, I don't have to set up a back-up time, I shoot it, and in an instant, they are there. It is also so easy to share the photos. You can have a whole family save and share pictures. I also like the fact you can set up galleries; this is a cool feature to keep like photos together. If you take a lot of photos with your phone, then this is for you. Last but not least, the organization is so easy, you will love that feature.

Interesting Item
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unlike others I had problems with the setup. I downloaded the app, set up the ibi and nothing. I continually received messages that the ibi could not be found, try moving closer to the ibi. Nothing. I re-boxed the ibi and decided this wasn’t for us. A few days later I unboxed the ibi once more and attempted the setup only to run into the same issues I did with the first attempted setup however after multiple re-sets I was finally able to complete the set up. If you are a family that likes to take a lot of pictures and share the pictures with each other this is a neat product. It does need to have some additional controls like limiting the amount of space each person can utilize. This is a very neat way for family member to store and share their photos and videos. For someone like myself I’m not sure that the ibi would be used to its full potential but I can see the advantages for others.

Personal photo cloud
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, this a great way to collaborate and organize all of your photos from multiple sources. Set up was super easy. The app works perfectly on both my iPhone and Android device and seems to be extremely user friendly. Adding pictures with the app is easy and quick - keeping in mind that the speed will strongly depend on your wifi capabilities. Use of this device is a great way to ensure that you have a routine back up of precious photos from all of your photo capable electronics. It also offers the means to organize all the photos you save to it. If in a household or family that often takes photos, this is a perfect way to collaborate them all together. In addition to the app, you can also access to your photos through their website, which has the same interface as the app. The device itself is sleek and not noticeable. My initial thought when I removed it from that box was that it appeared to be a SSD encased in a plastic tube; but considering this is device is always on, it has to have a means for air cooling, hence its design. The only concern I would have with this device is that since it is always connected and transmitting via your wifi, it is very important that your wifi is secure. Personally, I would prefer this over cloud storage because I have full control of the data and security. For less tech-savy people this may not be ideal if security is a concern. Last, this is a potential money saver if you are paying a routine fee for cloud storage. With this, it’s an onetime cost to buy it, and no fees to manage it.

Great concept, app needs improvement
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great concept to have all your photos and videos from multiple sources backed up on a physical drive in your house, on your own network, instead of the cloud, yet still be available for sharing over the Internet with individuals or groups of people. The initial setup is very straight forward, I used an Android phone for that. Adding photos from the phone is pretty simplistic, you can select all photos in your gallery or separate albums such as screenshots, or you can select individual pics, or select one day at a time. This may work if you don't have that many pics, but I have thousands of pics migrated from previous phone upgrades and I don't want to back them all up, which would take a very long to complete over WiFi sharing. It would be nice to be able to search by location or date before selecting what photos to add to your backup. If you have photos on a USB drive, once you plug it in the back of the IBI, the app will notify of that and give you an option to copy content. Synchronizing photos from other popular cloud services is even more limited, seems like all or nothing. There is basic tagging of photos once they've been copied to the IBI, but features like face recognition/search is not available. This device may be OK for someone not very tech savvy who is just looking for basic (slow) backup and sharing features, but only time will tell if the app will get more useful features and the hardware will be reliable enough as a backup solution (2.5" spinning hard drive and some Android 6.x based processor that generates a good amount of heat)

Good idea, but not quite there yet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ibi photo organizer is a good idea, but isn't quite where it needs to be yet to make it an easy photo organizer. The device is very small, which is great as it makes it very easy to place. It needs a good wi-fi signal, but other than that it's basically plug-n-play as far as the main 'tower' goes. The hard drive spins pretty constantly when used, but I have mine in a location that I don't even notice unless I'm standing right next to it. Once it's plugged in then you must download the app (of course) to finish set up. It's easy enough to set up initially. The issue comes once you start adding photos. Grant access to all of your photo accounts and it will 'grab' them and add them automatically--also very easy. You can add the app to windows 10 as well and let it retrieve photos from your computer. The real issue for me (and I suspect for a lot of people) is the overwhelming task of organizing those photos. It's great to have them all in one place...after a long process I have close to 7000 photos on mine! They are organized by month....and that's it. From there it's up to you to go through and organize them how you wish. This is a great device for a family that's just started taking photos I suppose, but for me it's basically going to be a cloud back-up of my pictures until I can find time to get those 7000 photos organized in some way. As a back up device it's easy enough (though there are free software programs that can do this same thing if you already have a portable hard drive or something to that effect). Being able to share those photos with anyone is also pretty cool --though google has done that with their photo organizer for years now, so again the value is somewhat limited. The app needs 'photo recognition' software that a lot of other programs already offer. Facial recognition, object recognition, etc, would have at least been a decent starting point for organizing a large collection. As a photo back-up for a family like mine with a ton of photos it's great for some extra peace of mind, but I can't imagine having to go through and organize all my photos again, when the majority of them are already organized on my computer anyway...

Great way to back up your memories.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this product for free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. This item is basically a wireless hard drive to save your precious moments like pictures and videos from your phone. At the moment it only backs ups pictures and videos but not documents, I am not sure if Ibi will add documents in the future. Ibi works on iOS, Android devices as well as personal computer (pc and mac). I only test it using the app for the iPhone I don’t have an Android phone. If you are a person that is struggling with services like for example “apple iCloud” due to lack of available space because is constantly backing up all your pictures and videos but you don’t want to pay the monthly fee, this could be a good option for you. The setup is very easy I was impressed with how easy it is all the process is done thru the Ibi app. Basically you connect the Ibi to a wall outlet, download the Ibi app, then the app will search for nearby Ibi devices, you then select your Ibi. Next you configure the Ibi to connect to your Wi-Fi network after that, you create an Ibi account. And that’s it!! Very easy I didn’t have any problems at all. While you are configuring the app, it will ask you if you want to perform “Auto Backup” if you select that option it will transfer all your pictures and videos to the Ibi. Every time you open the Ibi it will search your phone for new pictures and perform and auto backup. The app recommends keeping the app open all the time that way it can perform the backup automatically. The backups can be done via Wi-Fi or cell phone data however, using cell phone data is not recommended due to data limitations with some carriers. After the backup is done then you can share the pictures from your backup with friends and family by sending a link (read only), sending the picture or by sending it to what is called the Inner Circle. The inner circle is a group that you create of friends and family members that you wish to share your pictures and videos. Everyone that you invite to the inner circle will have a space on the Ibi hard drive to back up their pictures and videos as well. Everyone in the inner circle will have their own account and no one can see each other’s pictures unless the pictures and videos are shared by the owner of each account. One's a picture is shared anyone in the inner circle can see it and comment on it. The app can give you an option to create an album of pictures, I have not created one but for me that is a plus. The Ibi comes with what it looks to be a USB connection to add pictures from a memory stick or to export them. The way of connection is only by wireless, it does not have an Ethernet port. The hard disk size of this device is 1TB however I believe that the biggest option is 2TB at the time of this review. Apparently, you can connect multiple Ibi drives together but I don’t know if the functionality is to add more disk space or to have a second hard drive as a back-up to the first Ibi. During my testing of the product there were a few things that I notice. First, during the addition to my wife to the inner circle there was what it looks to be a bug in the process of adding her. The email with the invitation went directly to the junk mail (not Ibi fault) but during the registration when she was asked to download the app via the Apple App store, she was sent to a different app not the Ibi app. We cancel that and search for the real one in the app store. Second, sometimes the app takes a little bit of time to synchronize once new pictures are uploaded to the drive (not much but could be annoying for some). Something that I would like to see is to incorporated into the app is a section that you can see a list of all the shared links of pictures and videos you created and a way to give you the option to remove them. The only way I found to remove them is to locate the picture you created a link and remove them which can be difficult as time goes on. Also, a way that you can select an expiration date of the link, after that time have passed it shall become inactive. The device is not recommended to be located in a bedroom. The LED status light is very bright and can almost be used as night light but, other than that, I am happy and impressed with this product, it does what it needs to do and more, is easy to use and is very useful. Is a product that I really recommend.
