installation was done in good time-- but I must return to the store and have the radio reset-- it is inset about 1/4 inch from where it should sit flush. Service techs were friendly and competent.

Geek Squad failed install or follow up help

I purchased a stereo from best buy, and the geek squad installed it. I already had an amp and subwoofers that had worked before the new system. After installation, my subwoofers can barely be heard and my vehicle battery drains and will not start any time that the stereo is not taken out. I went back to the geek squad with my issues. They took a look and said they did not know what the issue was and that they saw no problems. The battery died on them while they were looking at it. After testing the battery itself, they told me that the battery seemed fine and was able to hold a charge. However, by then it was 5 minutes past closing time, so they concluded that it must be my vehicle and that I needed to get a new battery. I was told to try keeping out the fuse that controlled the stereo when the vehicle was not in use. Magically, that kept the battery from dying. However, I never got so much as a follow up call to see if this resolved the issue or not. Needless to say, I will not be going back to the geek squad, and will need to find another stereo installation business to try to fix what was ruined so that I am able to actually drive my vehicle while listening to the stereo.

The install tech was great but it was impossible for him to do his job when he had to continuously stop and answer the phone or help a customer. They need two people in the install department.

Had a wonderful experience with a previous install for a car stereo for my boyfriend's birthday so I decided to get my stereo upgraded as well. Scheduled install, gave specs and equipment I would need. I showed up and installer who took initial call told me he didn't have a kit and it would have to be ordered. Rescheduled me. Never called when part came in, I called to schedule again. Came day of appointment and they double booked. Same installer, same unapologetic nature. Fit me in with help from awesome supervisor and staff member. Service is hit or miss, not sure if I would recommend.

They Cancelled Install 3 hrs Prior to Appointment

Ordered the radio, cables, and antenna converter. They did not have the dash kit available so I ordered the exact same kit online. Set up the free installation for two weeks out. I received a call 3 hrs prior to the installation from a technician who stated that since the car had Ford Sync they could not install a radio. According to him, an after market radio would not work. He said he contacted one of their upper level technicians who confirmed this. He also said that with the dash kits being so flimsy that there was the possibility of it cracking. I cancelled my order and appointment and then went online to Crutchfield. Ordered the radio, wiring harness (which included steering wheel access) antenna converter and dash kit. I also had then pre-wire the new harness. It still came out $80 cheaper even with the steering wheel control converter assembly and harness wiring. Basically was a plug and play installation, everything snapped into place. Dash kit looks great, radio works fine and steering wheel controls operate as they should. Sorry Best Buy, you've lost a customer for life and I will not recommend you to anyone.

Spoke with sales person and a manager about radio install on our son's 2000 VW beetle. Paid for and scheduled the install. When were arrived for the instaltion appointment the installer went on and on and on about how the sales staff didn't know anything about installs and how difficult this install was. It is not the customer's responsibility to coordinate between the 2 departments or deal with this confusion. We just want the radio installed like we paid for on the radio we got our son for Christmas.

I went to bestbuy geeksquad for a quote on a deck install in my car. I was told it would cost me $120+$40. I was fine with it. On the day of my installation, I was called to come in early. I came in and the guy was in a very bad mood. He took a look at my car and told me the quote i was given was wrong and charged me $250. I was fine because i wasn't in the mood to argue. He then called me back and said for an extra $60, he'd hook the stereo to my steering wheel. I obliged. Needless to say, he did a bad job. My volume can't go above 15 without making a screeching noise and he didn't connect it to my steering wheel. He left a mess of cut wires in my car without vacumming and cleaning the area as stipulated in the contract and he didn't install my dash correctly. When i confronted him, he said he couldn't do anything about it because he had another appointment. He said I would have to come in another day and pay an extra $150. I called the manager, Brad Bell, he yelled and hung up the phone. I called Bestbuy corporate, they apologized and said it won't happen again. No Refund and didn't even attempt to fix my deck install in my car. I don't recommend. Save your money and go somewhere with more polite people

I was greatly disappointed with the install process of my new stereo. First off I was not informed of additional items I would need that had to be ordered from the dealer so that put my install back a week. Also, after the install my bluetooth did not work properly. The tech was not overly knowledgeable but nice, but I was still not satisfied this time around with my install and this was my 4th. With this experience I am inclined to not return to Bestbuy for future installs.

I had a Sony cd installed in my Celica and only the midrange sp eakers were connected. The car as tweeters in the window, midrange in the dash, and woofers in the doors. I was told I would need to add an amplifier to power the tweeters and woofers. To my dismay the cost to install the amp and connect the tweeter and woofers was $524. I get to the installer and he states I need labor and wiring harness for an additional $90, so over $600 to connect to 4 speakers. I go for a walk and get a call from the installer. He states that in order to get the tweeters and woofers to work I will need to pick a pair of speakers to give up because of power limitations. I told him to give up the rear speakers and ensure the tweeters and woofers would work since not many people get in the back seats. When I come to pick up the car nothing had changed. The front and rear midranges were the only speakers that worked. Why on earth would anyone pay over $600 to add an amplifier when the existing deck powered those speakers fine. Just total disregard for me specifically stating the tweeters and woofers were the most important speakers to power, that was the entire reason I purchased the amplifier. A total waste of my time and I have to wait over 3 weeks for the installer to uninstall the amp so I can start where I originally brought the car in.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. There is little as aggravating as spending the time, effort, and money to have a service completed and ending up nowhere for the investment. Do they know what an appointment is?

So... I had an appointment at 5:15. I arrived early so I could check in. I parked by the instillation bay and walked to the door. The door had a sign that said "Please see associate inside the store" So here I go, into the store. I wait 10 minutes to find someone competent enough to tell me to go BACK to that door and knock on it.. Why not post that you need to knock on the door at the instillation bay? So I walk back, around the whole store to the door, I knocked on it. Some guy answers and asks me if I need to have something Installed. No, I need a physical... So they let me in. I wait 5 minutes to only be told to hang on and wait another 10 minutes. No another guy comes and "helps" me out. He asks my name, and if I had the appointment for 5:15, which at this point it's not 5:15 anymore.. He goes on the computer only to tell me that I had to wait another 2 1/2 to 3 hours to get my radio installed. I walked right out, I didn't need to reschedule because obviously you don't even know what an appointment is in the first place. I drove home 45 minutes and went to Car Toys instead. had it installed within an hour. I'll never use Best Buy/Geek Squad to install any car radio or accessories that require instillation ever again.

The installation was only good for the radio. The parts and labor to install the radio and 4 speakers was $413! Therefore installation of the radio and 4 speakers with installation parts was almost $500! The radio, 4 speakers and radio installation was cost about $200. Total was over $600 when all was said and done. Product cost is good cost to install product that very expensive.

I got this gift for my husband as a Christmas present. $60 for install wasn't bad so I decided to go ahead and purchase the install as well, even though I have a had a bad experience with the "Geek Squad" before. I wasn't able to go with my husband at the time of install but I have him all the paperwork and he have it to the installers. Twenty minutes into the appointment we both get calls saying the install is complete. Then a return call stating they called the wrong person. Not a big deal. Then it comes time for checkout. They charged us AGAIN for the install when we clearly already paid for it. Even in the online appointment it states that I have prepaid for the install. Luckily we got our money refunded.

This was fairly simple install, scheduled for 1 hr, but it took nearly 3 hrs. The tech said he was having a hard time getting the trim kit to stay in place. I was told if it popped out again for me to bring it back. It did pop off the next day and I pulled it off to see what might be the problem, I found that he had used foam sticky tape to get it to stick. I removed the thick foam and put it back and it popped in and stayed in place. I have no idea why he used the tape and why it took 3 hrs.
