Good service, but don't buy online in advance

I was trying to get a new stereo installed before a vacation road trip. I called the Plymouth Meeting, PA Best Buy to ask if they could do it that day. The Geek Squad audio installation guy asked me what kind of car I had, and looked up the dash kit that I'd need. He said they didn't have it in stock, and it would get to me quicker if I bought it online and shipped to me directly rather than shipped to store, where the store processing can delay availability by a day. He gave me the PLU and I was able to quickly order it with 2-day shipping; he said to call when I got it and they could schedule an evening appointment for the install of the unit that was being held for store pickup. Those plans were dashed when Best Buy shipped to my office address but omitted both the suite number and company name (which I had included in the Shipping Address), meaning I had to call UPS, give them the extra detail, and they redelivered the next day. That's not relevant to this product, though. But it did mean I had to wait until I got back from vacation to try again. I cancelled the store order, and Best Buy did refund my 2-day shipping charges. When I got back, I reordered the stereo online for in-store pickup, and was prompted to buy this installation service online. Thinking it might speed the process and even save a little money, I did. They sent me an email with a voucher number and instructions for redemption. I called the store and made an installation appointment. By the time I got to the store, I was about 10 minutes late for my appointment. I picked up the stereo, but was told I had to drive around the back to the installation bay. I did that, and was able to walk into the installation bay. Nobody was in there, though another car was clearly in mid-installation. I waited about 10 minutes - the door from the installation bay into the main part of the store was locked, and I finally used my cell phone to call the Geek Squad desk and ask them to send someone back. Once the installer got there, he was friendly and efficient, but he was completely baffled by the pre-paid installation from my online order. He looked at it, tried a couple of things, and then called someone, who seemed also to be a bit mystified. But he said he was sure it was ok, he just needed help to get the paperwork right. I went back into the store to browse and shop for a new microwave. I paid for the microwave and carried it back to the install bay to put right in my car, and he told me he was about 10 minutes from being done. I went back 10 minutes later, and he was done and someone else was there trying to figure out how to redeem my voucher. There was a link in the email that was supposed to be for store staff to get redemption instructions, but it didn't work either on my phone or on their computers. She was eventually able to figure it out by looking up my BestBuy.com order, but what I thought would save me time ended up costing me about 20 minutes. I still had to pay for the harness and materials fee - it would have been just as easy, and not a penny more expensive, to just pay for the whole thing at the store. So, I think Best Buy installation is fine, but pay for it at the store, not online.

Brought my Nissan Rogue in to get the JVC double din stereo my wife got me for Christmas installed. The stereo works great, no issues with anything including the Bluetooth. A very clean install at a reasonable price, I wouldn't hesitate to use the geek squad again!

I did my research before actually choosing the Menifee, CA location to buy my in-dash radio and having it installed. There are 4 BestBuy locations within a 40 mile radius of my home and I visited all of them specifically to see what in-dash radios were on clearance. When I finally decided on an in-dash, I chose the Menifee store to do my installation because they had less appointments booked (according to what i saw online while scheduling an appointment). They were able to take me the next day after my purchase. btw, I was replacing the stock radio in my Toyota Matrix S 2009. Other than having to search for the required; Wire Harness, Installation Kit, and choice of an in-dash radio, I forgot that my steering wheel had volume controls which cost an extra $90 on top of the installation fee. So if you have any kind of controls on your steering wheel, you may expect this situation if you'd like to keep using them. I decided to decline this particular part installed since my choice of in-dash came with a remote anyway. Overall, the techs, Chris and Vihn, at this location are pretty nice guys! I was told i had to wait an hour for the installation. I left the store to get a snack within this shopping center. By the time I sat down to enjoy my food, I was called back because the installation was done. It took at least 30-40 minutes. I was also educated on how to use the in-dash since this was my first time actually buying one. I am very happy with the service and the choice of radio I went with. I would definitely recommend BestBuy to do installations!

I've had bad experiences with Best Buy stereo installs (Rochester, NY for example) but the Seattle store knows what they're doing. Quick - less than a hour - and flawless with perfect fit & finish.

Thank you to Matt at Sterling VA!

This review is long overdue. In June 2022 I had a pioneer double din display unit with microphone, steering wheel controls and backup camera installed at the Best Buy in Sterling, VA on my son's old Honda 2000 by a smart and kind technician named Matt. I don't know if Matt is still there, but I want to have him recognized for the excellent service he provided me. Matt said since it was very hot outside and stores weren't open yet, that I could stay in the car bay. He provided me a chair to sit. I watched Matt work non-stop during the entire two hours of the scheduled installation service to get all 3 purchased items installed. He said usually they reserve 2 slots for all 3 items. I was very impressed with all of Matt's professional skills. Especially fishing the wires for the backup camera and the microphone installation. I really hope that customers realize that these technicians don't make nearly what they deserve with the highly technical skills and knowledge required to do these types of installations. Best buy is lucky to have a very highly skilled technician like Matt in their geek squad unit.

I needed a CD player swapped out in my 2001 Ford Focus. Called store 333 first and Austin explained he was the only installer and was booked up for two weeks. He gave me the direct line to 335 and said they had 3 installers and could get it done much faster. I called 335 and spoke to Aaron, who was able to schedule me in the very next day, quoted me a price (about $70 less than another audio place I had called previously), and let me know how long it would take (about an hour---2 to 3 hours faster than the other audio place said, too). The price quote was spot on, and he got the work done in less than an hour, and it came with a lifetime warranty! :) He set the clock on the new CD player for me and showed me how to work the presets, volume, equalizers, etc before I left the bay. The player looks great in my car and works like a dream! Very happy and would highly recommend Best Buy Auto Geek Squad to anyone! :)

I just recently had my brand-new Sony Deck put in my Honda and Brandon told me that the wiring from my factory harness to the deck is correct, but deck isn't functioning. He later checked the stereo fuse under the hood and found out it was blown .He replaced the fuse and my deck started to work like a champ! Despite the fact that it does cost some money to get car audio components installed by them, I strongly recommend their service because of their qualifications in car electronics and because of their lifetime warranty. Disclaimer: Please note that if you plan on buying this service online, your local Geek Squad technician may run into problems retrieving your redemption code at your appointment. Ask your local Geek Squad technician first if they can easily retrieve redemption codes when purchasing these services online when you schedule your appointment of installation.

My car's stereo broke so I had to get a new one. I don't know anything about stuff like that so it would take me forever to figure it out. I was able to make the appointment online and the technician was on time. He was also fast, the installation was scheduled for an hour and 15 min but he was done after less than an hour. I didn't have to buy the stereo at BestBuy which was good because I had a giftcard from a different store. In addition to the radio you will need a mounting kit and wiring harness which will cost about 20 Dollars each if Geek Squad picks them for you. But I also already had those and I was glad the technician had no issue using those. They charged me 15 Dollars extra for the installation of the microphone that came with my radio for hands-free calling. That extra cost seemed alright because they did a neat job installing it. Overall I paid 80 Dollars for the installation. The technician was very friendly. I just wish he had vacuumed the work area as the description of this service had listed. Aside from that I am content.

I took my car to the Pasadena Best Buy, and had my stereo installed in 40 minutes. Scheduling wasn't a problem because they took walk ins. The guy was really friendly, did a perfect job, and the stereo is working perfectly. I did, however, purchase all the hardware elsewhere and saved about 40% off of what I would if I had purchased the necessary components from Best buy. It's totally worth the 60 bucks, for the convenience, and peace of mind knowing that Geek Squad will do it right.

    Best Buy made it right

Had car stereo installed at Orchard Park location in October. In December, went to use my rear window defogger and found it inoperative. Took it to dealer and they found that the wiring had been disconnected under the dashboard and never plugged back in. Went back to Best Buy and talked with Manager Josh. Because I had purchased the stereo at another Best Buy, and had free installation, he could not find the appt. listed. All he found was an entry for a refund of the external antenna. I did not have the original installation order with me, just the credit card receipt showing the purchase. In spite of my lack of paperwork, Josh refunded the money I had to pay to get the rear window defogger plugged back in. I appreciated him doing a lot of research to verify my installation and for refunding me for the repair

Having an aftermarket stereo installed on my Saturn Astra was quite a process. The installer was great though. Took the time to explain what he was doing and even recommended additional "optional" part to make for better handling of stereo. Professional quality, affordable installation.

    Car stereo install.

2 weeks ago my left speaker went out. I started looking into a new system. Settled on a JVC stereo and speakers. Went to Best Buy and purchased them and set my install for Sat Oct 31 at 12:45. Got there at 12:20 and was in the door by 12:30. Cory thought that it was not my stereo, but maybe the speakers. Pinged the speaker and it worked. Took the door apart and whoever did the install before, used shoddy connectors. Went ahead and fixed them and installed the stereo. Even though my old stereo was fine. Didn't charge me for the speakers he fixed. Great experience. I will be using Geek Squad again.

After reading many horror stories, I was a bit unsure about going to Best Buy to have my JVC stereo installed. But after also reading some positive reviews and since they take walk-ins, I decided to try it out. I got there as soon as they opened, and they were available to help me immediately. The employees were very friendly. They said it would be $110 (parts + labor) and that it would take about an hour. 50 minutes later, I got a call informing me that they were done. When I got back to the store, I checked out their work and it was exactly what I was looking for! The guy even showed me how to use the new stereo. In the end, the total price ended up being $120, more than expected but that's because he had to install an antenna, which he informed me of that possibility beforehand. Although the price is high, it was worth it to me because it was installed perfectly and quickly with no issues at all. Definitely exceeded my expectations!

Love the Car Audio Installation Guys!

I had my car stereo installed at the Best Buy on SE 14th in Des Moines, IA. The guys there were GREAT - they were able to get me in right after I purchased my stereo. The install only took about an hour, which included pulling out my old unit and satellite radio receiver. I had asked them if my new unit would connect to the old receiver. They told me it wouldn't fit and even showed me where the plug in was on the new unit. It's great customer service when you're willing to take the time to show a customer something and not just expect them to take your word for it. They answered all my questions and made sure I was happy with the install before I left. I would recommend this store to ANYONE for installations!
