Good service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even with my negative attitude from reading the geek squad reviews, the installer did a great job in only 45 minutes. I came in with a bad attitude and went out a happy consumer.

Not as advertised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had installed a Pioneer 8200 with Sirius and I bought everything needed to do the entire install and plug in the original backup camera - it was an extra charge for Sirius and the camera and the total for installation came to $206. Don't fall for $69 or $99 quote! I was going to buy everything from BB but since they could not set the appt until the next month and would not honor the Amazon price match I ordered everything online and decided to set the appt once everything arrived which ended up being 2 weeks later. I made sure I had ALL the correct parts and even printed up a detailed guide with pictures from others that have installed this same stereo and accessories on the same model car to make it easier since when I spoke to him he said had never done a Mazda (say what!!) but he was able to move the appt up a week so I did it. I was actually going to go to a local shop the same day he said he could move up my appt and I should have followed my gut but I decided to do it thinking BB would be ultra-professional and guaranteed with the backing of BB. I should have gone elsewhere because now the backup camera does not work after 2 days and he can't EVEN look at it until next week and he made it sound like I will need to buy a new camera if it’s not a loose wire but it is most likely because he did not install it correctly (that’s what the extra parts I bought based on others' experience and installation instructions were for!). If he cannot fix it I want a full refund of the camera installation so I can go somewhere that knows what they are doing. I can’t go to another BB store since he seems to be the only experienced installer for miles around at BB. It is hard to believe there are not more experienced installers in my area since there are 4+ BB stores in a 30 miles radius and I must wonder why. Having a working backup camera is a priority to me because and I spent OVER $1000 on this entire upgrade which is more than I expected and when I called hoping to come in ASAP so he could look at it he made me feel like my issue is not important enough to warrant coming in the same day even though he will be there until late. I am sure the local stereo shops would have been more friendly and available. I will update my comment and my rating after my issue has been addressed.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The stereo installation tech @ Murrieta Ca. Best Buy was booked solid the day before Christmas Eve and for multiple days after and he still took my truck and guaranteed it to be out by 8pm. It was done by 6pm. Well done!

Terrible car audio installation experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a new car deck along with the recommended trim kit and wiring harness from Best Buy in December 2018 and had it installed by a Geek Squad Autotech. I returned later the same day because the buttons for the fog lamps and hazard lights could not be pressed (they worked when I brought the vehicle in.). The tech tried to ignore me entirely because I didn't have an appointment, but he finally agreed to take a look since I'd only had the vehicle back for an hour or so. First the tech told me there was no way to make the buttons work, but I insisted that someone try to fix them. Of course, I had to make another appointment. I returned for my appointment a few days later, and left my vehicle for several hours. When I picked up my vehicle, the fog lamp button was now stuck in the on position, but at least the hazard button worked. After I left, I noticed a crack in the trim surrounding the console. I knew the crack was new, but being an older car, I didn't think anyone would believe me and it wasn't worth the hassle to bring it up. A couple of weeks later, I was driving in a remote area with severely rutted and bumpy roads. My vehicle is AWD and drives smoothly on or off road. After a few minutes of driving on the bumpy road, I heard a terrible whining buzz from the speakers. I turned off the stereo, hoping it would go away. Nope, still there. Finally started hitting both sides of the console and the noise stopped. This continued on and off for a year, but only on bumpy roads. Not only did I not want to take the time to leave it at Best Buy again, but I also doubted they'd fix it without screwing up something else. Not to mention the inconvenience of scheduling another hours-long appointment. Last weekend I paid a car audio installation professional to diagnose the problem. He removed the console cover and it was clear that the installation was very sloppy and lazily done. The new installer pointed out several wires that had been spliced together, then bundled, but not wrapped, so bare wires were touching bare metal when I drove on bumpy roads. The new installer not only fixed all of the wiring issues, he also made some adjustments so that the console cover snapped back into place. The crack in the console trim is invisible now that the stereo and console have been installed correctly. So far, no buzzing. Very disappointed in Best Buy's Geek Squad Autotech. Would not recommend.

The installer, Josh, was great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Often times an installer isn't familiar with the myriad of decks and cars so they end up jury rigging the install. Josh was experienced and knowledgeable about all phases. A breath of fresh air.

service so bad, I no longer shop at best buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i received a new car stereo for my pick up truck for my birthday. it was purchased at best buy, so i went back there to have it installed (best buy in plano, texas). the installation went horribly wrong. when i dropped teh car off they tried to get me to buy new speakers, i told them my speakers were pretty new and i just wanted them to install the stereo. everything went downhill from there. i don't know if they screwed up my speakers on purpose, out of spite for not buying new speakers from them, or if they were just terrible at installing car stereos, but i didn't get out of the parking lot before i started having problems with my speakers. when i went back so they could fix what happened, they told me i should have bought new speakers and said they couldn't fix the problem unless i bought new speakers.

Good install but incomplete.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Specifically requested a stereo that would work with my factory overhead DVD. Tech took two and a half hours to complete the install. When he was done he said, "You didn't want the DVD hooked up, right?" I told him of course I did and made sure that the unit I purchased was capable of doing that. He informed me that he didn't know how to do that and that he wasn't told that I wanted that done. He said that I needed to make a new appointment to get this done.
