It does what it says: connects a 3.5mm (headphones) to a 1/4" input. Works for what I use it for.

I needed a quick and secure/reliable way to connect and disconnect my pro headphones from my tablet (stereo mini-plug connector) to my mixer (1/4" stereo connector, which is what this unit is), which I do often. I also preferred a 'low profile' body - a shorter body casing - to minimize the height and sheering weight (the 'pull' on the connectors when they are plugged in to one another, which puts a lot of stress on the male min plug connector in particular - which, in turn, can cause a poor connection). This connector has a low profile (which is what I wanted). Not much can go wrong with these connectors but I have had defective or loose-fitting units and this one fits perfectly, receives my headphone mini plug connector snugly and snaps in securely. I would buy this brand again!

Believe the bad reviews, there must be serious quality control issues. On first use the 3.5mm would not connect tightly to the adapter resulting in static and dropout. I tried other cords with the same result. Ordered a Sennheiser and is exactly what is needed - great fit and sound. Spend a few dollars more and avoid this junk. Insignia products are typically reliable so they need to locate another source for this item.

This 1/4 inch to 3.5mm adapter works great for connecting headphones to my piano/keyboard. It is durable and the sound quality is not distorted in any way.

Had to run to Best Buy and pick this up for church service. It was easy to find. In and out and back to church in the nick of time and worked perfectly

So I ended up buying these because I was waiting for my Sennheiser adapter and could not wait to use my Sennheiser headphone + DAC/AMP. Oh boy, what a mistake, I always buy from an American or European company but this was garbage, didn't make good contact at all. When my Sennheiser adapter came, that thing worked wonderfully. I regret buying the Insignia, what a waste of money, time, and gas. Would not recommend and would not buy Insignia brand ever. Guys and gals, spend more money and get quality products (Sennheiser) save you money and the headache.

I've had to buy several of these over the years for my home studio, they are not built to last. It doesn't take long before they become loose / fall apart, or pick up alot of static and diminish your quality. It's just not worth it in the long run. My advice would be to buy an adapter with all metal construction for reliable connectivity between cables and audio components.

I hook my MP3 to a freestanding amp and needed this

The 1/4 jack fits into my amp fine, however, headphones do not fit. I tried three separate headphones and they didn’t stay in. It works as long as you don’t move. Except that the sound quality isn’t great because the headphones do not fit so the intonation is super off.

Contacts loosened so much as to be useless within two months. This is not worth 49 cents, let alone $4.99. Cut it open, very poor build quality with poor quality parts. Junk through and through.

Maybe it was just a defect in the one I got?? Because my headphones did Not fit into the 3.5mm part! It was SUPER loose. Trash. I wish they sold a better quality one.

Defective product. after first use, headphone jack will not stay in adapter.
