I need to keep the setting on max for it to keep items cold, otherwise they are just cool. So I just use it to store bottled water and coffee creamer. I would recommend it for limited use.

Not Cold Enough for Food Safety

Good value, especially on sale and available at store. But I tested with two thermometers and it could not keep temperature below 42 degrees F at any setting (min, max, etc). Maybe I got a dud, but food experts say the fridge should hit at least 40 and the manual says it should be able to do 32 to 50. The manual has troubleshooting tips, which basically amount to make sure the door closes and the back has airflow, but after two weeks of testing at various settings, I gave up and returned it.

The Insignia 1.7 Cu. Ft. Mini Fridge is the perfect option for an easy to access fridge. Setting up the Fridge is extremely easy, once you take off all the plastic wrap you just plug in the fridge, and it starts cooling immediately. Inside the fridge there is a small glass shelf to be able to store items on both top and bottom areas in the fridge. The door also has storage space to store bottles, drinks etc. I love how the fridge door can be reversed to open on either the left or the right side. The fridge has fridge has 3 levels of cooling those are Min, Med and Max. Depending on your preference of how cold you like your products, the fridge does get old. Nothing is better than an ice-cold bottle of water to quench your thirst. The outside of the fridge is a subtle black that looks elegant and clean. The fridge doesn’t make a lot of noise when it's running, which is a big deal for me, seeing how I placed mine in my theater room. At 1.7 Cu Ft, the fridge is just the right size to hold a 12 pack of soda, plus some extra snacks. Overall, I am very pleased with the Insignia 1.7 Cu Mini Fridge, the size is just right for storing drinks and small snacks, and it keeps my drinks very cold. It’s also very convenient saving me a trip downstairs every time I get thirsty. I also love how quiet it runs, as it doesn’t interfere with my movie experience. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for mini fridge.

Perfect for a bedroom or dorm room!

This is a really great little refrigerator. Right out of the box, it was easy to setup and remove all the plastic. Within 3 minutes, the fridge was plugged in and already cooling. It also got cold very fast. It's also super quiet. You can barely hear it running even when it's cooling, so it's perfect for a room that someone sleeps in like a bedroom or dorm room. It also has a low profile, not taking up very much space but at the same time providing a good amount of space for drinks and snacks that need refrigeration. The door is also big enough to hold a larger drink like a 2-liter soda bottle. The glass shelf is also super strong and allows it to hold even more items. The "Insignia" logo is also pretty sharp despite being painted on instead of attached, but that made setup even go even more quickly then needing to put it on the door. The door is also very sturdy and there is an easy temperature adjustment dial inside the refrigerator. Overall, I highly recommend this fridge for drinks and snacks and it's once again perfect for use in a dorm room, bedroom, or TV room.

This is a nice shape and the reversible door is good, but it does not hold food safe temperature. At `max` setting it only gets down to around 45º F which is not safe.

Although I just purchased this mini fridge, it has already formed a thick layer of frost on the back wall and a plastic container of milk against it froze solid-very disappointed in the quality of this product.

This refrigerator won’t cool below 45 degrees on the coldest setting, even with few other items in the unit. I bought it to store refrigerated meds but I can’t trust it to cool to recommended temperatures.

Anyone who has to share a common kitchen and fridge with thieving coworkers will appreciate this little unit! I have wanted a fridge for my office for years and kept putting off getting one because they just look so “college”. This little guy is all grown up with the smooth black finish and a door that can go both ways. The biggest key to success here is that it actually gets COLD!! If you’ve stayed in a hotel suite lately you have likely experienced the “what’s the point” fridges there that keep beverages and leftovers perfectly luke warm no matter how long the goods are inside. I’m elated to report this Insignia model keeps yogurt and water chilled! I have not used it as a freezer, just a good cold fridge, but it has a rating down to 32 degrees. That means a pint of coffee chip should survive as well on the correct setting. My lights do not dim when the fridge comes on and it’s very quiet, which fits the bill for an office companion. I recommend for someone who needs a fridge that looks nice, takes up minimal space, holds several drinks, yogurts and lunch leftovers, and actually does its job!

    It's a mini-fridge and it works well

So we have a dedicated spot in our master bathroom bar for a mini-fridge. The spot can actually hold a larger size mini-fridge (like the ones that have a small freezer section). However, I opted to get this cube-sized mini-fridge (rather than rectangular-sized) for one main reason - very little to no upkeep needed. The problem with the mini-fridges that have a freezer section is that you have to occasionally thaw out the unit due to the ice build up in and around the freezer section. The last unit I had got ruined during this thawing process, I'm not sure how. But the sad thing was that I never even used the freezer section in that unit but had to essentially throw it away after I tried to thaw it. So, when this one came up I decided to opt for the smaller unit that didn't have the freezer section and I'm happy that I did. So my advice is that if you really don't need the freezer get this Insignia unit, you'll be pleased with it's size, capacity and performance as I've been so far and you won't regret or miss not having a freezer.

Great Addition to my Dining Room

In the box is the fridge and an instruction. First Impression - The fridge is exactly what I was expecting and fits perfectly in my dining room. I got this particular size and model because I keep drinks on my buffet in my dining room and it would be great if they were already cold. I typically get cans but lately the bottled drinks have been on sale, so I have bottle cola drinks in there currently. The fridge fits about 15 - 16.9 ounce bottled drinks on the top shelf and on the bottom shelf it fits cans perfectly. On the door, it fits the 16.9 bottle or cans or maybe a wine bottle. The drinks were room temperature when I put them in and a couple hours later they were cool. The instruction manual does state that you should only plug the fridge in on one outlet. Nothing else should be plugged in, in the second outlet. Overall, I love this fridge and it is a great addition to my household as I can put juice boxes or any other drink that I want to keep cold in there. I would recommend to friends and family and I would purchase again.

Installed this lil guy in my Office. It's nice having an on-hand space for drinks and small snacks. If you need a drink/snack fridge in a game room, office, or a small dorm fridge for essentials, something like this should do the trick. Also looks like they have plenty of options for sizes, I opted for the smallest one personally because I Wanted something I could have in my office space for drinks. Anything bigger would have been in the way for me. So, this little 2-foot cube of a fridge is great, and worlds better than those cheap 'drink coolers' they like to sell that barely keep anything cold, let alone actually cool something down. This may not look like anything special, but it's not trying to be, and that's actually a benefit here. Nothing to push the costs up, solves a singular problem and doesn't invent any new ones to try and solve. Would be nice if they could get the compressor on these mini fridges a bit smaller just to get a little more internal storage space out of them without making the whole thing bigger. But as advertised it has a little more than 1 and a half cubic feet of space inside to stuff it full of drinks and snacks. It's nice just buying a case of my drink of choice and putting them in this for the week. Also keeps others out of my juice since I no longer have to store it in the family fridge. So that's nice.
