    Dies fast.

    1. The screen wants to turn off after maybe 5-10 seconds if you are not doing something (moving finger around on it). I am not sure of the exact time but I usually can only read maybe a paragraph (I bought to use as an e-reader). 2. The battery seems to run out of power fast. I was literally watching the power drop as I was checking under setup for how to do an update. I was on for maybe 5 minutes and the battery life listed dropped for 53% to 46% in that time. That seems very fast for a device less than a week old. 3. I admit, I did not follow first power on instructions. The instructions said charge for at least 4.5 hours before first turning on. This device was replacing a previous Insignia Flex 10.1 purchased 8 days ago that could not connect to the internet and even the Geek Squad said it was bad (had 2 days, first day was just plugged in to charge), second day was trying to get it to power on and then connect to the internet). I wanted to verify it could connect to the internet, I downloaded/installed Firefox for Androids, then downloaded/Installed Kindle for Androids, then plugged in for 24 hours before downloading my Kindle library. 4. Hard to turn on, to be honest I am not sure if it is hard to turn on or just takes so long. I can hit the power button and unless the screen just turned off it seems like nothing happens. I hold down the power button and nothing seems to happen. I keep trying for a while and suddenly it will give the Insignia logo. I do not know what if anything was different when it gave the logo. Maybe it was slowly powering on through all the button pushes. Though when powered on, pushing the button turns off at least the screen. 5. I bought it as a replacement for a Kindle Voyage that was stolen. I have no interest in using the device for other purposes. I had lasik surgery and had one eye adjusted for distance vision and one for distance to a monitor (about 30 inches). My arms are short so I cannot get a good crisp image of what I am reading when holding the Kindle unless I use a very large font. That means I get 3 - 4 sentences normally per screen, so I wanted something with a much larger screen. This seems to work for reading (inside, the screen is a mirror in the sun so nothing visible on it) except it the constant screen turning off. 6. I do not know how it would work for watching movies or playing games. It might not keep turning off like it is when I am reading books. 7. If you want to have to stay connected to a power cord or are going to use the tablet for short periods, I recommend it. If you want long term use (based on my system 90 minutes or more), get something else. As most of my friends use there cell phones constantly and are often using them for gaming and movie watching while on the go, I think I would have to recommend they stay away from this device.

The screen is clear, and it has plenty of storage space, it looks nice, comes with Android 6, with almost no bloatware. Even many of the default Google apps are gone. That is all I can say good. Problem is that it is extremely slow. I've handled dozens of tablets and this one is very slow. It's just a little faster than my 5 year old HP tablet. I don't think it's the processor as much as it is the RAM and storage configuration. The display looks good for this price range. However, there is one odd thing about it. Everything is large. I have other 1280x800 tablets that display more content on the screen, but this Insignia the icons are large, the apps don't display everything within them properly, etc. Honestly its as if the tablet thinks it's an 960x600 screen and not 1280x800. Oh and the launcher buttons are on the right side which is odd. Overall, for the price I could live with the odd display configuration, but the slowness is too much. Spend the $20 more and get a better tablet, you'll appreciate it. I've handled many 1.3 Ghz devices that was plenty fast. I feel that the type of storage RAM used is way to slow. They'd been better off ditching the GPS, and only including 16GB of storage and 1.5GB-2GB of RAM provide more/better performing memory. Insignia seems to have the wrong DPI setting on the screen and should provide a way to put it back to normal.

This is an entry level tablet. When I took this tablet home and powered it up I was shocked how beautiful the display is. This display is very bright and sharp for such an inexpensive device. I must say the store display does not due justice to this device. OK, now for the negative. This device is not a speed demon. But its fast enough to get the job done. The device has 32GB of storage which is pretty good. It also has a micro sd slot so you could store a massive amount of stuff. I would definitely recommend this device for web searching, reading news and weather, reading and writing email and last but not least watching and streaming video. I would not recommend this device if your looking for the ipad experience for a fraction of the price. I would not recommend this device to replace a laptop computer for your college bound kids. All in all I am very happy with this purchase.

After reading the reviews prior to buying this device I said to myself "it can't be that bad of a device" and I was 100% wrong. This device is SLOOOOOOOW, WiFi randomly cuts out, Bluetooth randomly cuts out, it's runs hot as heck and will shutdown on you when it does (good thing I guess) and the battery life is atrocious at best for this device. There's that old saying that everyone should adhere to "you get what you pay for". And with this tablet you are getting one woefully bad device. I'm not going to return it because I'm going to give this to my 4 year old niece a a learning tool tablet. I'll fork out another $100 to get a quality device in a couple days.

I have this tablet for a few weeks now. I find it works well. I had no problem installed the Apps I expect to use (primarily home automation and monitoring apps). It has a good amount of memory, plus has a micro-SD slot to add even more. It also supports a OTG flash drive. Its battery life is reasonable (I can play two 2-hour movies before it dies). The screen is clear, and of adequate resolution for its size. I had no problem connecting to my 2.4G WiFi network (doesn't support 5G). If I had to mention one disappointment, it lacks a compass sensor. It does have a GPS radio, but without a compass sensor too, its ability to be used for Navigation, is greatly hobbled. I mean, it can locate your current position statically using GPS, but not much more.

Anyone who reviews this tablet a 2 or better, never had a tablet to compare it too. This is super slow, often crashes when doing a search.....sometimes even in the middle of reading an article. I constantly get notice that an app isn't working and if I want to close it out or wait, in hopes that it will not freeze. Even though it is cheap, its STILL not worth the $70 bucks...I tried to return it but was refused because I lost the box....therefore I will never deal with Best Buy again. I was promised this was a good tablet, but they lied...I should a spent some extra money and got the Samsung. Do not, I repeat, do NOT buy this tablet, even if you want for modest use, this will not meet yor needs. Matter of fact, this tablet crashes during YouTube play backs! Bad product + no support = disaster.

Too cheaply built case for the tablet

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The casing for the tablet is too cheap. Dropped it once and it literally came apart. Put it back together but could not find the plastic power and volume button as they came off. It worked for 3 weeks afterward and then one day it just won't turn on at all. If you do buy it check available RAM right away. It is supposed to have 1 GB of RAM but only had 0.9 GB workable. After the operating systems use, not much RAM is left for other apps. It is too slow for streaming videos online and the quality of screen is not very good either. It could be used as digital reader or very basic web browsing (check mail), beyond that not much useful. I would not recommend spending $99 on this tablet. If you find around $50 might be ok. Also a good idea not to drop it.

I had a throw-away tablet a purchased 2 years ago for about the same price but I needed to replace it. Unfortunately, this tablet is worse in a number of ways and I will probably end up returning it. Because of the many freeze ups on just about every app it's almost unusable. I like the 32 gig storage and it looks good but I simply can't use it. This may be due to Android 6.0 or something else causing problems but I will reset it and if that doesn't help I'm returning it.

I went through 2 of these before I decided to give up and get a real tablet. The price is decent, but you don't even get what you pay for. The first tablet I purchased, got stuck in a boot up loop. I couldn't download my first app before it would reset itself every 10 seconds. So naturally I took it back to the store and got a new one. I was extremely disappointed with the lack of speed and performance but it managed to get some apps downloaded. After 30 days or so, the tablet would randomly turn itself off while I was using it. Finally, the last time it was operational, the tablet went into shut down mode and kicked the bucket. No turning it back on this time. Battery had a full charge and I had only downloaded about 1/2 a dozen apps. Needless to say, I will not be replacing this tablet with another of the same type. I will go with the Ipad that I know is reliable. IMO spend a few extra dollars and get a name brand tablet. Stay away from this one.

    Just don't....

Don't even buy this. Seriously, when the clerk tells you whats wrong with it before you even have a chance to explain why you are returning it, than you know there is a problem. There is a reason why it's on sale now. I got it when it was $100 a week or so ago. 1st: The battery died after charging the recommended time before first use. So I charged it Superbowl Sunday. Now I didn't use it at all except for loading up everything (apps, account names, etc.) The next day when I got off of work, the thing wouldn't even turn on. I go online to read what is up, and there are a few reviews about the battery dying after a day. Well that just happened. 2nd: After finally getting some juice I go to turn it on and sure enough it wouldn't turn on. After going online again I found out that this tablet does not want to turn on when it suppose too. (Dang I should have read the reviews. I always read reviews before buying this stuff). 3rd: I have no clue why they want to put 1gb ram in tablets, and this goes for all the tablet makers. That is just a joke and not enough to run a tablet smoothly. For people reading this, make sure your tablet and/or phone for that matter has at least 2gb ram or more. 1gb ram is a joke...... After dealing with those 2 problems and reading reviews, I just reset it back to factory and go to return it. Upon my returning it, the clerk says "let me guess, it wouldn't turn on, or is the battery dead?". Like com'on! Can't make this stuff up. Hey best buy maybe you should stop selling this product...... I ended up going to fry's electronics to buy another tablet because that one was not in stock at best buy. Maybe you all should, idk, actually have the good one in stock and not some broken down one.....

    Too slow

Bought this to see what a cheap alternative to "premium" tablets (Samsung, iPad which I own) would be like. Answer - painfully slow. Full featured, and it gets there, but is the turtle in the category for sure. Screen is ok, not like retina display on iPad but good enough. But every app is slow, and I m not a gamer, just trying to use Facebook, news apps , email. If you can't afford the name brand, this will work for you, but prepare to be patient while it waddles long

STAY AWAY - Proceed with caution!

Hardware specs are good, price is great, but due to a poorly developed Android image (and no maintenance from Insignia) the tablet is almost unusable. I spent 3 weeks working with Insignia support, and Geek Squad to try to resolve the issues I encountered (general erratic behavior, severe sluggishness, in ability to search for updates). I finally was informed that Best Buy/Insignia don't create their Android distro's, they license them from another company. This means that the tablets DON'T get updates, and if the factory image needs to be re-applied neither Insignia or Geek Squad have access to it to perform the necessary work. Neither Insignia support or Geek Squad could point me towards the company that creates the Android images used. Overall - stay away from this, for the same price you can get a DigiLand tablet that performs better. For a little more you can get the Acer Iconia One 10 that performs significantly better.

The tablet works well for a tablet that I paid $99 for. The only drawback (and the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5) is that I have had a difficult time finding a case for it that has both the camera hole in the right spot and turns into a stand with a keyboard. I wish there had been a bundle deal with the tablet that gave me the option of purchasing the whole package. The tablet itself though works great.

Believe the reviews. This tablet is inexpensive for a reason. The wireless adapter in it is weak. It will constantly dropped the signal or may not connect at all. It's also very sluggish and at times. I'm not sure if it's the Intel processor or lack of ram. Also, not enough screen adjustments available. Everything seemed too large. Good price but really only useful for children.

A very marginal tablet; barely functional.

I owned this tablet for two days before I returned it and purchased a Kindle Fire instead. I put it through its paces. I read books on it, searched the Web, personalized it, installed dozens of apps, updated Facebook, perused Twitter, and generally did everything one might want to do with a tablet. Memory-intensive programs like Google's Inbox were disasters. OK, I thought -- that's to be expected. But I did not expect this tablet to have so much trouble with Amazon's Kindle app or with the basic functions of Google Chrome. Turning the page in an e-book could take multiple seconds. Searching for something via Chrome's omnibar took even longer. I was able to watch Netflix, control my Nest thermostat, and do various other basic things. The Kindle app worked more often than not. If you can't afford a more expensive one-size-fits-all tablet, it's amazing how much this clunker can do. (After all, while the Kindle Fire is similar in price, it locks you in to Amazon's ecosystem.) But you could easily wait and purchase a Samsung Galaxy Tab A ($149) or an iPad ($329) and be so, so much happier. Why settle for something that will frustrate you every single day you use it? One final note: battery life. This tablet has a battery, but its sole function appears to be keeping the tablet running while you scramble to plug it in.

Bought this a while ago for streaming purposes and internet browsing. I stream more than browse, but I can't rely on it for either. The charging port is a joke. I read it could come loose, but didn't really think it would with as little as I use it. It took a week for it to come loose. Well, with the loose charger, comes a completely unreliable charge. I can't use it off the charger because 5 min in it dies. It will shut off mid use and not come back on for 20 minutes. It feeezes more often than not and is very slow when I try to browse. Even when I have a strong signal with wifi, it says it's not connected. Maybe I got a lemon. Maybe not. But I can't use any apps. My daughter can't play any kinds of games on it. Basically, it is the single worst purchase I've made in a very long time. Definitely regret it.
