Great tablet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The tablet works great, I can use it as an e-reader and go on the internet and get Microsoft office. The battery life is really good and the speed is really not bad unless you expect it to run like an Intel core i7, but for this priced tablet it's relatively fast. I plan on using it at school so i don't have to lug my heavy laptop and I think it will work Great!

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been buying these Insignia Tablets since the first 4 GB model . Then purchased the 8 GB & 16 GB year models . This newest 2016 model FAILS MISERABLY ! ! ! The INTEL PROCESSOR IS VERY SLOW ! ! ! It FREEZES UP constantly . . . Never had any major complaints on ALL the older models . . . If it doesn't function properly. , then it doesn't matter how CHEAP it's priced . . .

Horrible device
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was originally attracted by the size and price of this tablet. Big mistake! The processor is painfully slow, the color on the screen is washed out and the Wi-Fi won't stay connected no matter what I have tried. I don't have connection issues with any other devices and am beyond frustrated with the poor quality of this device.

Insignia 8" Tablet lasted only one month
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am writing here because the Insignia™ - 8" - Tablet - 16GB is sold out. I bought it in August, 2017. For a month it worked just fine: good speed and screen. Two weeks ago, I tried to recharge the battery. I plugged the cable but the charging icon appeared for a second and then disappeared. I tried different positions. When I lifted the tablet the icon stayed on the screen but the tablet did not charge at all. Now the battery is dead and the tablet is useless. So I am very disappointed. It seemed to be a good deal: $50 on a 16GB tablet with Android 6.0. I also read several positive reviews. I had already bought 2 Insignia bluetooth speakers, which are cheap and very good. This made me confident in the Insignia brand. My problem now is that I live in Brazil, so I can not return or replace the item. I wish good luck for all Insignia tablet buyers.

Don't do it.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My $60 phone beats this easy. Slow slow slow. 5 to 10 minute wait for a display It always seemed to be working to hard. Now after 10 months it won't turn on. Battery won't charge. Doubtful I will have this toy "fixed". Every time I'd put it down I'd had to sign in again. Very annoying. Not so hot resolution for movies either.

The Screen Keeps Shattering
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this tablet earlier this year and I am now on my fourth tablet do to the screen cracking. Once the screen cracked on outside twice the screen has cracked on the inside causing it to be inoperable. The longest I have had this product in use was 3 months. The shortest was not even a day. I strongly would not recommend this tablet. Luckily I have geek squad. But I am a dissatisfied with the product. The last exchange I did was yesterday Nov 11, I had just setup to use tablet and the Next day Nov 12, I barely touch screen and it again shattered on inside. This tablet in my opinion is pure junk.

Very basic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Granted this is a cheap tablet and ought not be expected to achieve much, but the processor is extremely slow. It will take you an absurd amount of time to scroll through social media apps and open pages on the web browser. All in all if you have a lot of free time to wait for things to load then go for it, otherwise the device is beyond frustrating.

Not even worth return shipping.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Terrible. I wouldn't have bought this device had I read some of the reviews first. The only pros: Inexpensive, large display. Cons: Incompatible CPU architecture (Intel Atom; nearly all android apps are written for ARM chipsets); Sluggish and underpowered; Poor digitizer response; Very slow storage; Badly-aligned cameras. When the tablet arrived, I was a bit overjoyed at first (still being cautious, since I had once owned an Atom-powered netbook.) All went well for about two weeks; then the WiFi chipset would associate with our router but not connect to the Internet. This device is slow and underpowered, with a very cheap chipset and storage, and the digitizer is maddening to use every day. Not even worth return shipping (or even the cheap PCB.)

Fair for price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall it a fair tablet for the price I got it at. I got it on sale a few weeks ago and I was excited. See I had the 6100 series and thought that going to the 7100 would be good. The brand was always stable, but now not so much. See there was no warning about the unit being able to over heat or that it would take a certain way to install personal videos for them to work. Since day 1 I had over heating issues, it would constantly give a critical thermal shutdown. Just sitting at idle it gets warm in a cool room. Then I took me over a week to discover that I had to put the videos I wanted a certain way or else they wouldn't play. The file would be there, and the size of the file was correct, but it didn't read any time on the file so it wouldn't play, and line transfering would take over 10 hours in a usb 3.0. When it plays games it'll only play for a little bit then either minimize the app, or reboot the whole system. Personally I think the finsihed product was rushed and that there are flaws in the 7100 series. I am not happy with the 7100 series and most likely will be returning it soon if possible.

Good Tablet for Price, two problems needs fixing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, the google now app causes sound popping or menu commands like going to settings or minizing apps, when this google now setting is on the headphone plugged into the headphone jack causes some sound popping noise when I think it has to do with Ok Google settings are on when I turned off a much of the google now settings it seem to make the static noise and popping sound go away from headphones it only happens when tablet is not playing music or fm radio or videos just clicking on icons and menus like android OS system seems to cause the problem when google now is installed and has settings turn on it seems to effect only my new tablet that I can tell anyway, to explain the insignia flex 10.1 tablet other problem is with google text to speech update 4.0, when installed on this table only the English United States Voice was working, both English UK voices and other English voices in google text to speech app caused silent sound either with headphones plugged in or without headphones, the other way to get back English Uk Voices and other versions of English voices was to uninstall the google text to speech app, on my old Samsung galaxy tablet 10.1 the update 4.0 works just fine, so it seems to be an problem on this version of android 6.0.1 which it comes with, so far their has not been a fix besides uninstalling the google text to speech update patch that's on google play for this model table, also their was pdf information on insignia website, but now when I look up NS-P10A7100 model it seems to be missing the page for it, not sure what happening with their website, I hope that this table can be upgraded to android 7 at some point in the future, also I hope that at some point either ivona text to speech updates their software so it can work with both android 6 and android 7 Os systems, since it only works on android 5 and below for that text to speech their voices sound a bit better than androids default ones. On a plus side this new tablet works great for the games , the internet has been better on my old tablet but it quality is ok for downloading updates, the reason I got an new tablet was to play the new games that require better hardware thanmy old Samsung galaxy tablet 10.1 wifi only supported since some games stopped working on my old android tablet that defaults with android 4.0.4 on that one system. I used ivona text to speech voices on my old tablet, they seem more natural sounding than the google ones, but it doesn't help that the google text to speech update 4.0 broke the sound from their voices on it. Again I hope at some point that they release update software firmware to upgrade this tablet from android 6.0.1 to the new android 7 one its released to these types of tablets systems. I hope during the upgrades if and when it happens that these two apps are fixed too, since it would be nice if I could say that things were bug free with the software at this point it has some problems that can be fixed I think in patches to this tablet.

Great for the price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this tablet for my 7 year old son. It works fast, the resolution is great, camera is decent, it holds a charge from continuous use for about 6 hours (4 if watching a movie) and we have never lost the wifi connection. The only draw back, especially for an impatient little boy, is how long it takes to power on. It take 3 to 5 mins to turn on. It also takes about a full 6 hours to charge and will charge while in use. If buying for a child, you can save guard accounts with passwords, so no purchases can be made. You really can't beat the price for what you get with this tablet. Highly recommend!

Okay at best...slow tablet...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the 7" Amazon Fire, a no-name 8" Android tablet, and the iPad Mini 4 in addition to the Insignia 10.1. I bought the Insignia to see if I would like a 10-inch tablet before I invested in a 9.7-inch iPad. I can't really get a feel for it, though, as I find myself reaching for one of my other tablets. The Insignia is SO SLOW! Besides the slow processing, it often requires multiple taps, and the color display is okay at best. My 8" no-name (LePan) tablet processes so much faster, and it has an old 4.3 Jellybean system. I'm not going to return the Insignia as I got a good deal on it, but I sure wouldn't buy it if it were going to be my only tablet. Oddly enough, I have found that it does process more quickly if I use it vertically rather than horizontally. As an aside, you can find a case that perfectly fits it at the biggest online retailer. Look up the Insignia model number along with "Mama Mouth."

Froze on Reboot - Returned to Store
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very disappointed with this item, so much so, that I returned it for a full refund. As the price was right ($70), I purchased this item for one single purpose: wireless audio-mixing for live performances. I bought it Monday evening, unpacked it, and plugged it into the AC as instructed. Tuesday morning, after it had reached 100% battery charge, I unplugged it and turned it on for the first time. Setup was very straight-forward, and I connected to my WiFi. One thing I noticed immediately was how sluggish it was to respond to simple tasks, like typing. Next task was to connect to the "Play Store" to download the X-Air mixer app, and that's where the problems started - "Google Play Store is unresponsive, and will be stopped" - Really !?! It appears this is a very hot topic in Google Search. As I am VERY computer savvy, I did some research and took the appropriate steps to resolve this issue. Step One: Soft Reboot. And that's where it froze - at the "INSIGNIA" screen. After 15 minutes, I performed another "soft reboot." Same thing, but I waited 30 minutes. Nada. Third's a charm, right?!? Nope. After 1 hour, I packed it up (still at the "Insignia" screen), and drove to Best Buy. Upon my arrival, I explained my situation. I asked for a replacement, thinking it may be just this unit, but there weren't any (I believe I got the last one), so I asked for a full refund. I also believe this is a "closeout item" as a newer model has just been released - for $30 more!

Great Budget Tablet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For 99 bucks, you can't beat it. Do not forget, this is not an IPAD, but for 99 bucks, it is great to for what I need it for- emails, books, occasional movie. The display is great which is what sold me considering it is a budget tablet.

Do not buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never leave reviews...having said that: I took the time and trouble to create an account just to leave this review about this product. It is incredibly slow, unresponsive ( There is a good "2 mississippi" count between touch and action.), and will crash at least twice during each use. While programs are loading I routinely get a "system UI is not responding" message. I knew I was not buying a Samsung type tablet for a hundred bucks, but all I wanted was something to watch hulu on or stream a movie to watch while i travel. What i got was a pixilated picture and the absolute slowest, glitchy maddening piece of garbage I ever blew money on.

Tablet fails with basic functions
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tablet is affordable but not worth it as it fails to complete basic functions. I bought this to watch movies while exercising. I've tried 3 different streaming apps (Vudu, Flixter, Xfinity) and all crash the tablet after 5-15 minutes of watching a show. I then tried to put digital movies on the tablet via MicroSD card, but the tablet isn't able to read any formats that allow storage of large files. Very disappointed.

A nice basic tablet, works very well
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very nice basic tablet. It functions well. The screen display is very crisp and bright. I use this primarily as a display screen for the live video feed when flying my drone. It is nice to have such a nice big display that has little to no lag and provides a crisp image with good color balance. I have not experienced any trouble with WiFi connections when I am in an area with a decent signal. This is one of the best bargains out there for a nice bargain tablet. Contrary to what is shown on the product listing, the tablet comes with a 1 year warranty. At least the box and included printed materials say so.
