Works well, but check cookware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this for my wife. We were new to this technology and didn't realize at first that only certain pots/pans would work. Like, I'm sure, others, we had a fair amount of incompatible cookware. The instruction booklet lists compatible cookware, and has a test magnet. Then, we realized that we had a couple of baking sheets and a cast iron skillet that would heat properly. Problem solved, and we're happy with it so far.

Induction is supposed to be faster.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the cooktop because it is very slick looking with the kinds of features I wanted. The most important reason to get the induction cooktop is to boil water faster, so that is the basis of my review. Some of the reviews involved taking the cooktop out the kitchen, but that is not my concern. The description did not state the cooking area. It just said that the cooktop was 11+ inches. The manual states that the cooking area is 7.9 inches. I did a comparison test vs. an ordinary glass electric cooktop. I boiled exactly two quarts of water in the following: Eight quart, 8" bottom, pot, and 3 quart 6 11/16" bottom saucepan. For the 8" bottom pot: 16 minutes to boil, never reaching a full boil on the induction cooktop. The instructions said not to use a pot bigger than 7.9 inches. I guess I broke the rule by 0.1 inches, but I wanted that pot to work, so I tried it anyway. 7 minutes to a full boil on the electric cooktop. For the sauce pan: 13 minutes to a full boil on the induction cooktop 9 minutes to a full boil on the electric cooktop. I assume that the longer time to boil the saucepan vs. the 8" pot was because the bigger pot had a larger area in contact with the cooktop. I will be returning this cooktop. I will continue looking for a fast cooktop. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Nice Cooktop!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit is a lot thicker than I expected. But upon looking at the competition I guess this thickness is the norm. Other than that this cooktop is excellent. Nice design and well built.

Good deal when on sale
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works well but has some features that are a minor annoyance to me. The LED display constantly blinks "L" when plugged in and there is no residual heat or the temperature is Low, apposed to the "H" when it's Hot. The "lock" feature button constantly gets pressed when the metal cooking pan slides across the button. You have to hold the button to unlock but only tap it to lock. It's so annoying to constantly have to unlock the unit to change the temperature. I would go so far as to consider this a safety risk as the unit will not respond until any inputs until unlocked. I disabled this button but taking it apart and stuffing some foam between the glass cooktop and the sensor button. You need enough as these buttons are proximity sensors.

Better than a hotplate not quit as good as a real
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great to use to heat up food, but the uneven nature of induction cooking causes issues when cooking foods from a raw state. Where you can end up with raw sections of meat and burnt in the same pan.
