A solid beginner PC or secondary PC
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this to use as a supplementary device to my main desktop, which is considerably better specs wise. I needed something for school that was first and foremost, cost effective. It needed to be able to handle word processing and document loading, as well as media consumption. Here is how it stacks up in the important categories. Display: Absolutely amazing for the price; Full HD (yes, FULL HD) display looks amazing. Screen: Screen material feels cheap, something like plastic and not glass, however it still functions well enough, and I wouldn't have expected much more for the price. Keyboard: For a detachable keyboard that goes to a tablet, I am genuinely pleased with its size and functionality. Full sized shift and enter keys, and a cheap, although functional trackpad, make it a decent product. There is some flex, but the same could be said about many laptop keyboards even. Speed: Let's get some things straight, this is no speed demon, however I am surprised at its ability to run fairly smoothly with minimal hiccups. The quad-core processor I'm sure is the champ responsible for making the device run as smoothly as it does and Insignia made a good choice including it. With multiple apps/tabs running, it did have some slow down, but not a lot for the processor speed. Battery: Really nice, it has a decent battery life. I feel I could make it through a good portion of the day with this device with moderate usage. Gaming: Don't even think about it, not what this is for. Maybe, just maybe, it could handle some flash games or apps (not that there are a ton on Microsoft store) but I wouldn't even think about running something like Minecraft on this device. Storage: Suffers from the normal "stretching the truth" from computer manufacturers. 36 GBs in this case really means roughly 16 gbs usable. The other half is used by the systems OS and other vital components. A little misleading, but that practice is an industry standard unfortunately. It does have microSD card support, which is great, and it has two USB ports attached to the keyboard, which is great! Synopsis: This device has some real value to it. I was genuinely surprised to see something like this from a brand name like Insignia, and I hope they continue to make products that have this much bang for your buck. I have had the device for a few days, and it works well, even after installing a number of updates from Microsoft, including one major one. Will update as time goes on, but so far I am pleased with this device and would recommend it to someone, if they know what to expect.

Product as described
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Is this tablet a little slow? Yes. Is it a Cray Supercomputer? No. I cannot knock off any stars for this product, as it performs according to specifications. It is a fully functional Windows 10 system that has done everything I have asked it to do. The Keyboard works well. The track pad works well. It did take some getting used to as it is close to the keys and I have to keep my thumbs and palms elevated to keep from contacting it when typing. It does have a Fn key to quickly turn the touch pad off and on. The screen is bright, has a good viewing angle, and is responsive. Battery life is adequate, lasting me 5-6 hours under moderate to heavy use with screen brightness at around 80%. Recommended: Memory card is a must. Windows takes over 10 Gigs off the top. Google Chrome is slow on this 2in1 due to the low Ram (2 Gigs). I find the built in Edge browser to be the fastest. Pros: Price, and build quality. I simply could not find a 2in1 fully functional Windows 10 unit with a 1080 screen res for this price. Not local anyway. Cons: Non really. Some would cite the slow specs. While I do admit it is a barebones basic set up, I feel it would be unfair to list the low specs as a con. I knew exactly what I was buying before purchase. As long as your expectations do not exceed the specifications, this 2in1 is a good buy for the price. Remember, this is Bestbuy; if you don't like it, you can simply return it.
