They sometimes get in the way of properly inserting the cable in the the jack. They VERY often make it hard to remove as well. Maybe this is just a problem in my environment.

Those are hard to screw up unless you're completely incompetent. You can buy online or terminate your own for a better price and about the same quality if you are a do-it-yourself kind of person.
