We tried many different things to try and figure out the problem, including repositioning the modem, the router, homeplugs, etc. Eventually we needed to add a second router. During the process we tried at least four different brands of cable. Running standard speed tests, these cables made the network considerably slower, by more than 20%! All the other brands were better. We were certainly surprised. The only good news is that it's cheap, so I didn't waste that much money.
