Worked great for about a month. I thought the batteries had died so I changed them out but alas, it wasn't the batteries, it was just a cheaply made item. You're better off spending this money on a Simplehuman trashcan. Insignia items tend to break easy in my experience. Lesson learned!

Censors only work after it has "woken up." So if you're a regular person that throws stuff away once in a while, you'll be pressing the button more than anything else. So main purpose of this product of not needing to touch to throw the trash has become moot.

Also the up cap actually does not 100% fit the bottom tank, you need to force it to fit. But most of time, it will unhook and pops up automatically.

The container is very big, make sure you have enough space. Uses 3 D batteries, not included. Automatically opens and closes nicely. My son is now buying one also
