You have to turn off and restart the TV to get it to come back on. Simply using the unit remote won't do the trick.

This is just a bad cheap choice.

It is basically the same sound as the TV speaker itself. It is really garbage, maybe for a kid's room that doesn't know any better it might be OK. I bought this as an open box for $30 and it is still not worth the money if that tells you anything.
