Good for my bedroom. Does not have VESA pattern for correct wall mount as I want to mount it to my tv mount so I had to make modifications but it works and provides ample sound in my master

This unit only has three different sound settings, and they all sound about the same. I never could get the wireless connection to work and had to settle for a wired connection. I would not buy this system again!

Great sound but you will lose ability to see a sound gauge line appear on your tv. Just have to guess hit remote button split second for each notch up or down in sound. Goofy. But, great sound and subwoofer impact !

Out of the box, this soundbar is attractive, has a small footprint and is very easy to setup and install. The quick setup guide and users guide are very well diagramed and easy to follow and understand. There are 4 ways to connect the soundbar to a source. You can use the provided RCA cables, a provided 3.5mm adapter,, an optical cable, not provided, or Bluetooth. My setup was to use the RCA cables to connect to my tv, use an optical cable (not provided) to connect to my Bly-ray player, and use Bluetooth to connect to my phone. The tv is a 46" located in the master bedroom, approx. 15x20. . The controls are located both on the side of the soundbar and on the excellent remote. The remote is light, comfortable and very intuitive with buttons well spaced so that any size fingers can easily operate it. There is no equalizer but there are 3 preset digital sound programs. Standard, Theater and News. When I watched tv shows I liked Standard mode. Movies were watched in either Standard or Theater, with Theater adding a little more treble and isolation to the voices to make dialogue a little easier to understand. The News seems to add even more voice isolation and trebble. Overall sound quality ranged from good to excellent. It is very source dependent. On the tv, using the RCA cables the sound quality was good. Using the optical cable sourced from my Blue-ray player and using Bluetooth sourced from my phone the sound quality was excellent. In all cases, the sound quality actually increased as the volume increased. It easily filled my large bedroom with sound and made watching more enjoyable. The wireless sub can be placed anywhere in the room and provides more than enough bass. This can be controlled from the remote and is completely adjustable within any of the pre programed digital sound programs. Keep in mind that this product will not replace a 5.1 or 7.2 setup with an AVR and multiple surround speakers. Even when sound quality was excellent, you were always aware that all of the sound was emanating from the front of the room.

the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the remote sensor on the soundbar is very conical and you have to aim straight at it to get it to register a lot, but it's not a big enough deal to make me hate it.

The sound bar and sub are both solid products. The Bluetooth has range enough for me to travel throughout my apartment with out any issues in reception, but the quality of the remote itself is lackluster

Packaging was well thought-out and everything was protected well. I also like that the sound bar was in its own sleeve. The unit comes with RCA cables, it you want a better connection and sound you will have to purchase a optical audio cable. The system comes with a mounting template that was excellent in lieu of measuring. Placement of the sound bar has a profound effect on the sound. I would suggest, as best you can, try it at different heights before selecting a final placement. The finishes of the room can make a difference. I used the supplied RCA cables, watched some TV an listened to the opening scene of Start Trek. Then I swapped out the RCA cables for a optical cable, noticeable difference in my room. This is a second TV and my first sound bar try. My main system is 7.1 speaker system driven Denon receiver and I honestly wasn't expecting much. This is not that type of system, however the sound was very rich an surprising. The highs were high, almost had a tin-e sound to it, the mids were good and the base filled the room. The sub woofer, for a six inch produced great rich base. Dialogue in movies is easily understood and not faint. There are three settings on the system via the remote. Don't misplace the remote. You can control the sub volume from he remote as well as overall volume. When you turn off the TV, the system powers down. Connecting my I-Phone to stream music was effortless. Overall this exceeded m expectations at this price point and I am very pleased with the performance of this system. I would highly recommend giving it a listen.

    Very nice entry level Soundbar

Summary: Attractive, easy to set-up, the Insignia 2.1 Soundbar provides a nicely balanced sound that easily improves upon the sound of (probably) every flat screen TV out there. I like it and will try matching it up with a couple of my TVs. It certainly sounds better than the TV. Why do I need a Soundbar? I love the new flatscreen TVs which offer beautiful pictures, take up almost no space, and can connect to all types of media sources. I don’t love the sound of these new TVs. Voices can be hard to hear clearly, the bass is phony, and it’s hard to get any volume that isn’t shrill. Trying to enjoy an action flick with special sound effects is a joke. I’ll predict that every TV owner will eventually go out looking for better sound for their flat screen. Soundbars are one of several solutions. The Insignia 2.1 speaker with subwoofer is probably considered an entry level solution. Setting up required very little effort. Read the instructions. There are a few procedures you need to accomplish to get sound. I did a quick test setup to make sure I liked the Soundbar before I committed to hanging it on the wall. I plugged both the “bar” and the subwoofer into a power-strip (not provided). Then I connected my test signal (I used my iPhone(!!!), but a TV is the usual input) using a 3.5mm-to-RCA jack cable (provided) to the “bar.” Make sure power-strip is on. I had to be sure to aim the remote at the front of the soundbar, pressed the power-on button, then pressed and held the Blue-tooth button on the remote. (BlueTooth connected automatically the next time.) Sound immediately filled the room. Nice, smooth voices, far richer than the typical TV sound, and a nice bass rounding out the bottom. The remote let me adjust the tone to switch between a natural balance (they call it THEATER), to a sound that emphasized voices (they call it NEWS), to somewhere in between. This SoundBar can get quite loud and fill a good sized room. Things to know before you buy: You’re TV will need to have either an audio (RCA jacks) output or an optical output. Go into your TV settings to select external speakers — this will shut off your internal TV speakers. The sound bar is slim; it should easily fit under a TV whether its mounted on a wall or sitting on its stand. It’s very attractive, and big, but it generally disappears from view. The subwoofer is not boomy or unnaturally loud. There is a volume control and it can be brought to satisfying levels, but not furniture shaking levels. Theater level sub-bass volumes are the reason you buy much moe expensive home theater speakers and electronics. Let’s be reasonable. This Insignia SoundBar is an easy piece of electronics to live with.

For the price, it's a good deal. I'd say this is a good soundbar if you don't have the money for a great surround sound system. I have the Samsung 4.1 Channel Soundbar that also has a wireless subwoofer. Now I'm comparing a $100 soundbar to a $500 soundbar. Samsung is clearly the better choice here. Now don't get me wrong, Insignia has it's good qualities. It has clear audio and decent bass for action scenes. But not as clear as the Samsung soundbar or as deep bass as the Samsung. So if you don't want to spend big bucks, this will do just fine for you. But if you're looking for a movie theater sound?....a soundbar is NOT the way to go. I also have the Bose Acoustimass 10 Home Theater Speaker System with a Harmon receiver. THAT is the way to go to achieve that great theater sound. No soundbar could ever compare. So it comes down to how much you want to spend? The setup for this Insignia is very easy. Linking the wireless subwoofer is no challenge at all. The whole process takes minutes. Hope this review helps.

    Surprisingly Good 2.1 Soundbar System

What it is: This soundbar is a 2.1 sound system used to supplement the sound from a television. The system contains two small full-range speakers in a wall-mountable bar and there is a separate subwoofer that connects to the bar by Bluetooth (so the subwoofer unit can be placed anywhere in the room). There is also a remote control for volume, subwoofer level, and equalization. There are separate inputs on the bar for RCA and optical cables (RCA cables are included) - the bar can also be synched to your music player through Bluetooth - the input source is selectable from the remote. Superficially: I think most soundbars are designed to be minimalist - to enhance sound without being obvious (or even visible) - that’s why they are usually manufactured in flat black. These speakers are, in fact, simple, black, and minimalist BUT they are actually more attractive than they were in the photographs online - even the photographs on the box made the speakers look less attractive then they are. These speakers looks quite nice! Pros: The pros for these speakers definitely outweigh the cons. I loved having a subwoofer that didn’t require a wired connection to the soundbar - both the bar and the subwoofer require power (i.e. separate plugs) but I was able to place the subwoofer on the opposite side of the room in a reasonably safe space on the floor - a space that was not available closer to where I mounted the soundbar. There was a paper mounting template included in the box that made mounting the bar very simple. The soundbar and the subwoofer connect with each other automatically by Bluetooth so there is no need to synch the two externally. Also, synching the bar to my iPod was straightforward - plus, after I synched the bar initially, I found that whenever I selected the Bluetooth input on the remote, it re-synched with my iPod again without any additional intervention on my part. Most important, though, is the sound - which is surprisingly good - this isn’t a McIntosh tube amp with electrostatic speakers - it’s an entry level 2.1 supplementation for a television - but the sound is very good, nonetheless. My own rating for this soundbar is five stars because it really exceeded my expectations - yes, there are better devices on the market, but the sound it provides, relative to its price, is very good. In particular, even with the volume maxed-out, there is no harsh clipping or the annoying distortion that you can hear in a lot of low-end systems. Note: The sound of these speakers is ultimately constrained by the sound output capabilities of your television. My own television is an inexpensive LED smart TV and the sound output is kinda bad - I don’t even have a Blueray player, OK. There are three equalization settings on the remote for the soundbar - the “News” setting is an absolute necessity for my TV since it reduces the levels of the highs and the lows. So my TV sounds MUCH better WITH the soundbar but it doesn’t sound great - that’s my TV’s fault. Meanwhile, the music I can stream from my iPad sounds fantastic. So, I was initially upset about how my TV sounded after I mounted the soundbar - but the “News” equalization helped the output immeasurably. Ultimately, I think you need to judge the sound based on optimal conditions, not minimal conditions (and like I said, my iPod output sounds great - even over Bluetooth!). So if you’re thinking about buying ANY soundbar for your TV, make sure you have reasonable expectations in mind. But having said that, the improvement in sound pretty amazing. People with better home entertainment systems will have much better results. Cons: I really have only two negative things to say about this system and they are both minor - I wish there could be a bit more amplification possible with the system (maximal volume isn’t terribly loud) - and I wish that the subwoofer speaker was covered at the bottom of the satellite subwoofer unit for additional protection.
