Mediocre sound quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a bit more critical of audio quality than most, but I was not impressed with this system. The sub cabinet was built from plastic and did not have a crossover built in. These 2 "features" caused for unclear audio quality.

Great Sound, at a great price!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The soundbar and wireless subwoofer produce an amazing sound quality when paired together. I've experienced soundbars without the subwoofer, and would recommend against them. With the volume turned up, I noticed that the sound remained consistent with a nice clear bass sound. With a fairly large living room, I was expecting to loose some of the sound quality due to this, but to my surprise, the sound was still amazing. The wireless subwoofer is a big plus. It eliminates the need to run cables throughout the house, and makes for a much cleaner installation. This has got to be one of the best attributes to this system! I would highly recommend this system to anyone.

Not a Good Purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I returned this product and got an upgrade. You cannot control the volume and the remote for this unit is separate from the TV remote. This is not a good choice.

Great soundbar for any setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This soundbar is an overall great product, excellent sound quality for my HD TV, but even better sound for all my miscellaneous devices and really great & easy setup for Bluetooth. I was very surprised at the sound quality of my music, especially from the subwoofer. like I said overall great product!

Great sound with a quick and easy installation.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit was very easy to install, It has two options for inputs, optical and rca. It also includes brackets built on and a template if you wish to mount it on a wall. The directions were drop dead easy to understand if you even needed them. Once installed, this unit has incredible sound for how small it is. I personally did not care for the additional DSP settings, but while in the standard mode sound was crisp with rich deep bass from it's sub-woofer. I wish it had more of a display, it only has one led for status indication. Other than a few minor things, this this Insignia sound bar with wireless sub-woofer is a great addition to any television set.

Insignia Soundbar, great value!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First impressions: The soundbar arrived in a large box, larger than I expected, but this is due to the subwoofer. The contents of the box was well protected and easy to unpack. The subwoofer measures 12"x7"x11" and the soundbar measures 35"x4"x3". Inside the box are: the soundbar, subwoofer, remote control, RCA type audio cables, detailed instructions, quick setup guide and a wall mount template. The included remote control feels cheap; I also find the volume button layout a bit strange, 2 large oval buttons placed far apart. Setup: I was able to get it setup quick and easily, plug the sound bar and subwoofer into an AC outlet, connect the cables from the "audio out" of your TV to the back of the soundbar and you're good to go. You will need to purchase a toslink cable if you want a digital connection. Note: if you are using an optical cable, be sure to set audio output on the TV to "PCM" otherwise the sound won't work. My TV was set to Dolby and no sound came out, I thought I received a defective unit...until I read the small red sticker on the back of the soundbar next to the optical input plug! If you plan on mounting it to the wall, the included template will make your life much easier. You will, however, need to purchase screws and wall anchors to mount it. If you're using this as a Bluetooth speaker, keep in mind if you have to disconnect it from one device before trying to connect it to a second device. Features and sound: My review will be comparing the Insignia to a soundbar I already own, the Yamaha YAS 152BL, which does not include a subwoofer. I first tested the Bluetooth audio by connecting it to my iPad. With music, I would say the sound quality of the Insignia is very good, I had classical and pop music. Despite its somewhat small size, the soundbar can fill a room with music. I then put on a movie, "The Fast and the Furious" and "Star Wars" to see how it handled the sound effects in the racing scenes. The Insignia has 3 sound modes, "Standard, theater and News". I put it in theater mode. Again, the Insignia did not disappoint. When I cranked up the volume a bit, I noticed the sound wasn't as clear as the Yamaha, the subwoofer though, added to the sound effects, the floor was shaking at times. I thought the Yamaha sounded more crisp, clear and richer. The Yamaha was at a slight disadvantage when it comes to the bass as it does not have a subwoofer. Certain scenes in the movie, explosions for example, is where the Insignia shined; the subwoofer made all the difference, the deep base made the scene more real, it literally shook the floor! Bottom line: If you're not an audiophile and looking for a reasonably priced soundbar to improve the built in TV speakers and stream music from your iPod, this device fits the bill. For both music and movies, the Insignia sound was very good, you won't be disappointed.

Excellent sound system for general audience
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since my ideal system includes separate Infinity speakers for each sound channel all married to a well-balanced subwoofer (these types of speakers have always sounded great to me), I have a relatively high standard for audio reproduction. Nothing distracts and annoys me more than poorly-designed speakers or audio that is too tinny in the tweeter ranges or not enough thump in the bass ranges. The good news for this Insignia NS-SB515 2.1-channel soundbar is that it actually impresses, even though it's minimalistic in both design as well as input sourcing/audio tuning. In terms of packaging, everything was well thought-out. Insignia included a wall-mount template (reasonably heavy-stock paper) with pictoral level that could be rolled out to the length of the sound bar (this is especially important for the crucial sound field, covered shortly). Instructions (of which it takes about four actual steps to set up) come in a resealable ziplock-style bag, which is really convenient. Overall, the product packaging was well thought-out to maximize space use for the vertical bar without too much waste with cardboard boxing surrounding the subwoofer. The sound bar was packed in both sleeve foam as well as plastic wrap. I appreciate Insignia putting rubber feet at opposite ends to prevent movement once the bar is placed in the desired location. The subwoofer was similarly wrapped in sleeve foam. For this package, the sound bar is powered via a separate and included power adapter that plugs in to the rear indent of the bar. This crevice includes ample room for power, optical audio in and RCA left/right in. There is no HDMI pass-through on this model; it's possible a more expensive model might have this functionality. The subwoofer plugs in via an integrated power cord and wirelessly communicates with the sound bar. Following the instructions, I hooked up the sound bar to an Insignia TV via RCA cables (there was no optical audio out for this TV) and plugged it in. I then plugged in the subwoofer. Also, pairing an iPhone 6+ was very simple as well. The sound was really surprising; it will have no issues filling a room and might come close to being a media room's primary audio source (assuming you only have two audio input sources). The virtual integrated stereo settings do allow for the sense of surround sound -- and that is rather a full audio sound, unlike other systems that seem "obvious" they're pushing the audio around the room. Once I adjusted the volume for the sound bar (containing mid- and high-range frequencies) and separate volume control for subwoofer, I was able to reproduce a really nice, balanced sound per the following audio references. The remote control included with the system allows for separate volume controls for bar and subwoofer, three sound stages ("Standard," "Theater" and "News" -- I preferred "Theater"), inputs for optical, RCA and Bluetooth, and a power button. Since I'm very particular about my audio references, here's a listing of audio sources used to test the system: - Star Trek: The Next Generation - Main Title (Dennis McCarthy -- Star Trek: The Next Generation: Encounter at Farpoint (Original TV Soundtrack)) -- This is my absolute baseline sound reference for any speaker system I ever consider. My tonal memory imprint knows how the sound "should" be reproduced, and any system is judged to be "good" or "bad" based on its respective audio reproduction -- via Bluetooth from iPhone 6+ - Bugler's Dream and Olympic Fanfare Medley (Boston Pops Orchestra -- NBC Presents Summon the Heroes) -- via Bluetooth from iPhone 6+ - Main Title (From "Star Wars") [Instrumental] (John Williams - Greatest Hits (1969 - 1999)) -- via Bluetooth from iPhone 6+ - 2015 American Music Awards -- Star Wars segment featuring Pentatonix -- via DirecTV HD recording by way of Insignia RCA inputs - Various HD and news programs -- via live DirecTV HD receiver by way of Insignia RCA inputs Three key caveats with this system: - When turning the TV off, even though there is no direct link from the TV to the sound bar (outside of the RCA cables), since the sound bar senses the audio signal stopping, the sound bar similarly turns off. Therefore, if you are switching from, say, turning off the TV and going to Bluetooth, you will have to power the bar back on and then press the Bluetooth source button. - Don't lose the remote! If you do, there is no other way that I know to perform any of the system's activities. - You'll need to be on relatively the same level as the sound bar to be within range of sound. Any movement vertically above or below the sound bar will impact the quality of audio reproduction (hence why there are instructions for actually mounting the bar underneath a TV on a wall). Overall, this is a very nice system. It will definitely be used for our secondary TV setup. Because it lacks HDMI pass-through (something that our more expensive Sony system includes), I wouldn't use it for our primary TV setup, as our other system allows switching between more inputs. However, if it did allow such pass-through, I wouldn't hesitate to switch out systems -- the sound really is that good, given that there's no granular fine-tuning of audio frequencies inherent with the system.

Nice for the price!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a nice product for the price, however the volume control doesn't have a great range. It is either just loud enough to hear in a quiet room or jumps to just a little too loud. It needs to have small increments available to adjust the sound. The 3 different types of sound are great for the various shows you watch! The size of the sound bar is a little big but sits very nicely in front of our 55" TV. The woofer is heavy and bulky so we tried to keep it out of direct sight. We had a blast with it while playing the music channels! There are 3 different ways to hook up to your TV but an additional cable is needed for optical digital audio - which wasn't included. The RCA stereo was fine. For a mid-range product it is fine for our needs.

Great value for the price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great value for the price. Very easy to set up and the wireless subwoofer connects automatically. Sound is as good as speakers costing much more. Subwoofer has good base and sound performance. The only think that is keeping me from giving a 5 star rating is the volume control. The volume goes up and down in too big of increments. It is either a little too loud, or a little to low. I have the same issue with the provided remote, as well as a universal I've programmed. Sound is great once you finally get it right. Overall, I highly recommend and it is a good choice if you want a compact sound system that is easy to set up out of the box.

Excellent sound at this price point
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was prepared to pay more for a sound bar when I discovered this one while shopping in the store. Admittedly I am using it in a relatively small space (the living room of an RV), but it is more than adequate and it sounds great! It immediately paired with the wireless subwoofer as soon as it was turned on. I particularly like that the remote allows you to control the level of the subwoofer separately from the volume of the main speakers in the bar. Sounds very clean even at higher volumes. Hard to beat this quality at under a hundred bucks!
