The Insignia 2.1 is a decent soundbar at a affordable price. First off, I just want to get out the way that the Insignia’s sound quality is just good, not excellent. It is good enough to fill up a bedroom with a loud crisp sound but a living room it may fall short so keep that in mind. One reviewer is correct it doesn’t generate that much low range bass and tend to get tinny once you turn up the speaker. My unit had one of the speakers get real funny sounding with a rattle when turned up to the maximum level. Though out of all the Insignia sound products that I own this speaker probably is the best among them. The Samsung series 400 soundbar that I also own doesn’t have any of these problems but that soundbar giving a clear consistent sound no matter what the levels are. With that soundbar and subwoofer I feel like the bass for an cinematic experience is good enough, with this one it just doesn’t feel as impactful to immerse you in the experience. Then again, at the price point Insignia soundbar is it gets the job done for normal usage enough for one to be happy. The setup is very easy and simple to do once out of the box, anyone should be able to understand how to hook up everything. It comes with the necessary cords and everything you need to get it going which I applaud Best Buy / Insignia for doing. It comes with a remote which feels extremely cheap but the words on it are very visible. If you have a universal remote I highly recommend using that instead of the stock remote. Not much is going on at the back of the soundbar with inputs but all of the ones you need are there like RCA and Optical Digital Audio. Funny enough I tried using this soundbar with my PS4 and Fallout 4 directly and I was surprised with quality as the bullets zoom’d by and sounds from the monsters gave a horrid feeling but again was lacking bass for explosions, so if you getting this for gaming in the bedroom is pretty good In my opinion. Bluetooth is about what you expect, it works and it works very well. I did streaming from Local Music, Pandora, Google play music, and Apple Music. The devices I used on the soundbar was an iPhone 6 Plus, Nexus 6P and a iPad Air 2. This will indeed eliminated a need for a separate bluetooth speaker taking care of everything at once, which to me one of the best features of this soundbar. My final thoughts on this I would say that the soundbar isn’t worth the full price but if you can get it on sale which is about $99 then jump on it. When it’s not on sale you maybe be better off spending a little bit more on something else. It sounds great depending on which environment you use it on and how big your living room / bedroom is. Gaming on it was good and bluetooth was great but it has its shortcomings with the bass. Overall though I am pleased with it and would make an great holiday gift for those who don’t need a huge 7.1 setup or people who don’t want to break the bank with a sound system. Out of the 4 stars it would be a solid 3.8.

For $99.00 It is a great buy. Very easy to connect RCA Jacks. I hook mind up to my Direct TV Box. This thing sounds great. I was very surprised. Enhances the tv sound perfecly movies and sports. When I use Bluetooth for my music this thing blows. I like the fact you can adjust the bass to your liking. Good buy for $ 99.00. For that price I am going to buy one for the bedroom. Love it. Hey give it a try I think you will like it too.

got this sound bar today, and setup was super easy; works with standard analog audio, or digital TOSlink connection. Sound bar is kinda long,(37"), and the subwoofer is a bit small, but it made a major sound improvement to my office led tv. tv speakers now a days are so poor, you need something to make the sound decent, and this setup does just that!

Our new Sharp flat screen 42" tv had terrible sound that you couldn't hear unless you were right in front of the tv. This soundbar has great sound that we can hear all over our front room and kitchen. It has options for theater, news and standard sound which changes the sound quality accordingly. We don't know how we got along for a year without it. It even works great with bluetooth for listening to music. Great base sound.

Recently purchased this product on sale for $95 and couldn't be happier. Sounds awesome and the sub hits way harder than you would expect. This is my first soundbar and definitely worth the money. Only bad thing is the remote. I would of given 4 and a half stars bc of the remote but overall definitely recommend to make your movies, games and music sound great.

Overall this soundbar system is definitely towards the bottom on my list of soundbar systems that I have tried out, and I have tried out a few dozen over the past couple of years. The Good: On the good side, it cost me nothing as I was simply trying it out for testing purposes. I will give it some credit as it is extremely easy to setup and use, but besides for that there is not much else positive that I can say, although it can get very loud which is both a positive and negative attribute of this soundbar. As for the setup all that it requires one to do is plug in the soundbar's power cable, plug in either a digital optical cable or RCA cables into the soundbar and plug in the subwoofer's power cable and that is it. Once all plugged in you can either turn on the Bluetooth (simply requires user to press the Bluetooth button on either the remote or the soundbar itself) and then connect your device via the Bluetooth or use the optical or RCA cables to relay the sound from your device to the soundbar. All in all, setup was very simple and one doesn't need much more than a little common sense and know how and the system is ready to be enjoyed. The Bad, and the UGLY: Unfortunately enjoying this particular system was not something that I can honestly say I was able to do. To start off with, the fact is that even though this system is definitely on the lower cost end of the soundbar spectrum it still holds a retail price of $200 which in my opinion is at least twice as much as it is worth. The 3 biggest complaints I have with the Insiginia NS-SB515 soundbar system are: 1. There is no HDMI input which even with the lower price point, in this day and age I expect any decent soundbar to offer HDMI as an option. For me the main purpose of having an HDMI input offering on a unit like this is so that you have CEC (consumer electronic control) which allows the user to control the soundbar with the television's own remote (so long as the television is CEC compliant). This may be a luxury that I have simply become accustomed to with all of the soundbars I have tried out but nonetheless I feel any device such as this soundbar ought to at least have the ability for CEC even if one does not or cannot take advantage of such an ability. 2. The second issue I have with this unit is just how cheap the materials both look and feel, especially the remote which felt as if it belonged with something I could have picked up from a dollar store. Yeah, you could say what do you expect from the price but I can assure you that for $100 or $200 dollars I would definitely choose a VIZIO soundbar (standalone or system) over this unit for the quality of the materials alone. Besides for not being very pleasing to look at (this is the least attractive soundbar I have ever tested) the materials just out right look and feel subpar with what is out there from name brands for the same price or a little more. All four major name brand soundbar companies (LG, Samsung, Sony, and Vizio) sell soundbar systems that are regularly on sale for prices within the $100-$200 price range. Whether it be the soundbar itself or the remote, the materials just seem to be of an inferior quality. 3. I am not sure what the deal was but the volume on this thing was incredibly difficult for me to adjust to where it was at my preferred listening level. It was either too loud or too soft; even with switching between the 3 audio quality presets (standard, theatre, and news) I was constantly having to adjust the volume for the particular scene (I watched several films over the course of testing the soundbar out, with each movie having a different type of soundtrack). Another issue to note with the volume control of this device is that because the soundbar does not have a screen (nor HDMI CEC which would allow the soundbar's volume to be displayed on the television screen) there is no way of telling what the current volume is. Mixed Feelings: Audio quality...... Now with all the issues I have with this unit I will admit that this system does do an acceptable job of giving fairly decent audio quality for both music and film (was not able to try out a sports program during my test period). As other users have noted, the subwoofer will definitely not blow anybody away but then again for the price (even if you paid retail at $200) you should not expect it to; however, a little more bass to soundbar would have been appreciated for certain songs and film scenes but I will not really hold this against this unit as it did what it was suppose to for the price. Conclusion: To finish, though this product is not an overly expensive soundbar system by any means the fact still remains that this soundbar is priced for more than it is worth. Whether talking about the craftsmanship or the audio quality, for $200 or even $100 I would choose another company's soundbar over this unit. In my opinion, I think for units around this price point Vizio models give users the best "bang for your buck" value; however, I will also say that I have been able to pick up LG, Samsung, and Sony soundbars new from Best Buy for under (and on occassion well under) the $200 price tag (when on sale) that have all been in my opinion better, and much better, options then this particular Insiginia model. Yet, with all of this said, in the end what really matters is not what I think of this soundbar but what you may think of it and whether or not you decide it is good enough for you. As I tell folks all the time who ask me for my opinion on whether or not to purchase an item (whether I have endorsed it or not), if an item looks worth trying out to see if you like it the worst that will happen is that you do not like it and all you have to do is return it for a refund. In other words, no harm, no foul. Give this Insignia soundbar a try and see what you think of it, my only suggestion for any and all potential customers is that you wait until the price is around the $100 mark before you decide give it a try.

But this system was so economical on price it made me feel the tremble base on my walls. Not even a previous Samsung standard sound unit did that? Im Amazed I would recommend this you wont regret the buy plus good far distance for Bluetooth on the base box too!

I have always been a fan of a bargain. When I started shopping for a sound bar, I started to realize that I may have to budge a little on how much I planned on spending. The sales associate at Best Buy explained how if I wanted a chance at good quality sound, I should be looking at something in the $250 - $350 range for a sound bar and subwoofer combo. Against his advice, I decided I would at least start with this unit, and if it wasn't great I would simply use it for my office. As soon as I unpackaged this item I was impressed. The design of the product is great. It doesn't seem cheaply built at all. And the sound.. I can't even begin to explain how impressed I am. I figured this was going to be at least mildly disappointing. Not at all. To be honest, it can handle more than I need. I turned to to about 70% and immediately turned it down. It could be heard outside. As another review had mentioned, the wireless subwoofer does have a very slight lag to it - if there is too long of a pause in between low frequency signals, you may not experience the first fraction of a second when the bass signal comes back. It's hardly noticeable. And mainly occurs at lower volumes. Overall, I love this product, and if I ever catch a sale ( I said I like a bargain) I will immediately buy a second.

I love the sound it produces. At first I wasn't so sure because of the price and brand but once I installed it and played a movie It felt like I was in a theather. Worth the price and especially for those who do not want to waste a ton of cash I would recommend this for sure. I am very happy with it since my room isn't soo huge the sound is great.

I got this on a deal at very good price. I don't say this is the best (as long as you don't compare to premium brands) but solves the purpose in a living room. Bass is a bit heavy but it could still be controlled. Overall is worth buying.

This was a Christmas present for my husband. Setup was very easy as was connecting the bluetooth with my Samsung Galaxy s6 and my husband's s4. Sound quality is very good. I've never listened to any others so can't compare to a more expensive one. However, it sounds great to us and the price was very reasonable.

I picked this soundbar up for $120 on sale at my local Best Buy and it is an amazing product for the price. Bear in mind that this is only a 2.1 channel audio system so don't expect an amazing surround experience, however it provides deep, powerful and clear sound. I would easily rate this product 5 stars if the volume adjust increased in smaller increments and if it had an auto-on/off feature, however I am very satisfied with this purchase and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a budget soundbar + subwoofer.

PROs + Easy setup: The setup process if fairly easy. Simply connect it to your TV with either an optical digital connection (which is best) or RCA cables (the red and white plugs). Then plug in both the sound bar and the wireless subwoofer to the AC wall outlet. There is no pairing process needed for the wireless subwoofer; it simply works whenever the sound bar turns on. + Sound quality: Sound quality is not bad. The drivers on the sound bar itself are a little "tinnier" compared to my Samsung HW-F355 sound bar, however, the subwoofer has a nice "kick" to it and overall sound quality is good. If I were to rate it on a scale of 1 to 10 (with "10" being a Sonos speaker), I would put the Samsung HW-F355 at an "8" and this Insignia 2.1 sound bar at a "6". + Bluetooth: If you want to listen to music, you don't even need to turn your TV on. You can use the remote to set the sound bar to Bluetooth mode and connect it to your iPhone or Android phone. You can then stream your own music, or stream radio like Pandora, directly to the sound bar. + Wireless subwoofer: Since the subwoofer doesn't require a direct connection to the sound bar, you can move the subwoofer wherever you need it in the room. For example, you could move it behind your couch if you want to be closer to the low frequencies. + Sound modes: There are several different sound modes included: standard, home theater and news. Standard is well balanced, while "theater" increases low frequencies (more "boom) and "news" boosts higher frequencies so voices are clearer. + Wall mountable: This sound bar can be wall mounted, which is nice if you already mounted your TV on the wall. CONs - Sound bar drivers: As I mentioned earlier, the sound on the sound bar itself is a little on the "tinny" side and seems to favor high frequencies. This is balanced out by the subwoofer and will likely still sound a lot better than the speakers built-in to your TV. - RCA cable: I couldn't get the RCA-to-3.5" audio cable to work properly. It would frequently cut out. This would be needed if you wanted to plug your phone directly into the sound bar. If you don't plan on doing this (for example, you'd rather use Bluetooth), than this likely will not be an issue for you. - No auto-on/off feature: One of my favorite features of the Samsung HW-F355 sound bar is that it automatically turns itself on when sound is detected, then turns itself off after 20 minutes of no sound. It doesn't appear that the Insignia sound bar has this feature. Overall, this is a fine sound bar that is sure to boost the sound quality of your TV. I also like the wireless subwoofer and the Bluetooth connectivity for my phone.
