Because my computer crashed, I wanted to try rescuing the data on the two 500G drives, before ceding to Geek Squad, or another service. Not knowing if there was even the chance I could affect the data rescue, I did not want to spend a great deal of money for an external interface. I was actually directed to another product, when I stumbled across this case/interface, in the close-out bin at Best Buy. Great find! It's a solidly built case, only two standard Phillips head screws away from opening the case, and easy connection to the hard drives. Inexpensive and useful...is always a win!

This is great quality. The usb connector is thick and study and there is no slip ups. Easy to assemble and works perfectly with my laptop's hard drive since the motherboard died! If you are looking for something to put your hard drive in, so you can access it due to a failed laptop. Look no further. This product saved me. There were zero issues and I have all my files now.

Works great and is fairly small. It has small screws that you have to unscrew to open it up.

Got this with a 500GB SSD, went together in 5 minutes, formatted and hooked up to the Xbox in another 5-10.

Perfect device for a swap and copy when installing a new hard drive in your laptop. 1. Remove HD from laptop. 2. Install new HD in laptop. 3. Install old HD into this enclosure. 4. Copy Disk contents from old drive to new drive. There are tutorials on the web if you haven't done this before. Then you can keep it around as a backup drive.

Not a lot to say about this, really. Easy to put the hard drive into this, sturdy case that feels very durable. Haven't had any issues with it.

Makes upgrading hard drive in laptop easy and safe place to keep the old drive and still use it

Purchased the enclosure and installed my HP All-in-One's Seagate 1TB Hybrid Drive in it so I could clone it to the replacement SANDISK Utra 960 SSD I bought as an upgrade for it. Worked as advertised. Saved me a long of time doing a clean install of Windows 10, all my software, and restoration of files from my backup. I've got the Seagate locked up in case the SSD fails and can restore my files from the backup on my Western Digital Passport Drive.]

had a computer with an internal SSD... rtest of conpouter was on its last leg... new computer that i bought was not compatible internally with the 1TB SSD.. thgis enclosure effectively allowed me to m ake an internal SSD and EXTRENAL SSD .. a TAD BIT overpriced IMO for a plastic enclosure. but it does work well

This is a well performing, usb interface to your old drive, or perhaps a new one that was purchased for another reason. It's quick and easy to insert this drive, connect the interface and screw the enclosure closed. Well worth the price, so easy to assemble and a great way teaching an old dog new tricks.

I will say this: There are other products that come cheaper. I could've brought one of those on Amazon or went to another store. I personally did not feel like waiting for shipping or driving to another store so I just coughed up the extra bucks. It is an enclosure which I didn't think I needed but it is nice looking. Pretty fast and easy to use. Gets the job done. That's all I asked for. Nothing too special or over the top about it that I'd give it 5 stars though.

My computer crashed and it would have cost me more than twice the price of a new computer. Geek squad recommended I try copying my drive with this and it was like pure magic. Plugged it into a USB in another computer and backed up my old drive and used this same device to copy the old info to a new drive and "the crashed computer" works like new! I still use it to occasionally copy my hard drive to make sure I have all on my info intact.

After changing out two older SSD for two new Pro 850's I really hadn't thought about what to do with them. Walking down an aisle I saw the hard drive enclosure and thought... "Why not give it a try?" ... so I bought one. After putting one of my SSD's into the cover and putting it to work it didn't take me too long to get a second one for the other SSD. A solid build and the 3.0 connection make this perfect to provide a second life for your older SSD's.

When I purchased my new computer I asked about transferring the data from my old computer. The salesman told me to just remove the hard drive and put in this case. It was easy, took just a few minutes. I plugged it into the new computer and was working with my files in just a few minutes. Only my files I need regularly are on my new computer leaving lots of space to fill.

This thing is great. every time I upgrade a drive in my laptops. I buy one of these and use the old one for an external drive. I give them to the kids and other folks when they need something to store data on. makes a great gift for just giving to be giving. no need to plug into power, just the usb port. great enclosure for the money.
