Have purchased 3 of these to utilize notebook hard drives for external storage when upgrading systems. Overall - pleased however performance is somewhat slower than expected in these enclosures. Initial read/writes take a noticeable time to register. On a positive side - enclosure(s) has always functioned with every drive inserted so far - would recommend but with the caveat that somewhat less responsive than the technology behind it should deliver.

The case is excellent for storage for a hard drive. The storage case works well and is easy to access. The price is very reasonable.

I replaced my computer's hard drive with an SSD. I didn't want to dispose of a 1 TB drive just because it's not as fast as an SSD. This enclosure allowed me to clone the mechanical hard drive to the SSD and then reuse the mechanical drive. Works great. I have two insignia drive enclosures now and keep buying.

the biggest struggle i had was getting the hard drive out of the mounting frame that held it in the lap top. it was easy to assemble and easy to use. the cord was longer than i had anticipated. i was telling my friend about the case and he has decided to 'case up' all of his old hard drives that he has laying around.

Nice case and has a 3.0 USB cable. Easy to use, just plug and play.

I was doing a swap of harddrives from my mac. So I took the old one out and put it in this and it recognized the drive. It's now mostly a backup drive but it did the job. If your looking for other ports then this one might not work for you. It's also sturdy and comes with everything you need to use to put it together. Just remember to have torque screwdriver available if your taking a harddrive out of a laptop.

I use this to clone my SSDs. It's easy to assemble and has a durable case. The slim design makes it very portable.

I have several hard drives that have family photos I want to recover. The computers don't work but I was able to remove the hard drive and with this enclosure and I was able to view the hard drive contents on my current laptop and extract all files I needed.

My computer died and I wanted to recover info from my hard drive. After looking around, decided to purchase the Insignia hard drive enclosure. It took about 10 minutes to pull the hard drive out of my laptop and connect to the enclosure hookup. Then, I plugged it into a USB port on a different computer and I had full access. This is a great tool, if you have a laptop die.

My wife's computer died suddenly one Sunday afternoon. The only way to transport her old data to the new computer was using this device. The ATA hard drive enclosure was easy to assemble and it installed without problems to our Windows 8.1 computer. We continue to use the old hard drive as an external har drive.

Cost effective hard Drive case. Easy to put everything together.

The enclosure was purchased to hold a drive from one of several laptops I have that are no longer in service. I finally used it to hold the drive from an Apple MacBook Pro that was terminally ill. The enclosure is easy to use and the assembly instructions are clear and simple. The new 500-GB drive works very well AFTER being formatted tor a PC instead of a Mac.

This Hard Drive enclosure is perfect! I bought it after my Xbox One X broke and I wanted a faster SSD to run my games off of my old Xbox One. I’ve been using it constantly for months now and I haven’t had any sort of issue. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that needs it.

This enclosure is both practical and necessary for today's computer issues. A PC user needs to have a mobile disk, to create backups and restores of data; the backup premise for these situations where the main system incurs an unforeseen issue is very important regarding recoveries, you should have a contingency plan for data.
