This is a great way of obtaining external storage space without paying for an external hard drive. The hard drive from a broken fit into the enclosure easily and allowed me to erase all existing data and use the hard drive to store my important files.

Great portable drive. Use it for video and no issues to date.

This product worked really well but was very finicky. It would eject at random times causing me to have to transfer data in small batches. I eventually returned it because I was tired of messing with it. But on a positive note, it was very easy to setup and it was really fast when it worked. I must have just gotten a defective one.

This is a nice laptop harddrive enclosure. Its metallic, not plastic and is easy enough to use. One thing that keeps it from getting five stars is that it isn't clear to me as to how protective it is of the drive (I think if you dropped if from a desktop, you might be in trouble...) and there is a plastic peice between the back and the metal casing that feels awkward when putting the harddrive in. Otherwise works great.

Very small and does the job really well, that's why I chose it.

Very easy to use, and much cheaper and more flexible than having a tech company read your already functioning drive from a dead computer to recover some or all of your data. On windows, your disc will display like any other external drive. Plus, you can continue to use it as an added drive for your computer.

The enclosure worked well to access info on my HP laptop hard drive. I transferred my documents to my new computer and don't really have plans to continue using the enclosure, though I might use that hard drive it as a back-up at some point. The hard drive was easy to install into the enclosure. No difficulties. No complaints.

Needed this for my old internal hard drive. Works as described.

Removed a 500gb solid state hard drive from an older laptop which I was replacing and wanted to reuse it in some manner. Reviewed several and settled on the Insignia. It was very easy to set up. Opened the case, plugged in the old drive, closed the case and it was ready to use.

I use this to put an SSD in it for external backups and never has any issues with it. Works well and read/write speed is not bad either. Does what I need it to do. It is fairly small and light and with an SSD drive in it still light as a feather so can carry it around anywhere without noticing.

Older laptop with growing list of physical ailments (most recent is failed power supply issue) so I didn't want to put more money into saving laptop. This was easy to use, removed hard drive from laptop and homed it in this Insignia enclosure. Then backed up data easily. Had some questions I needed to research, so directions would be nicer if they addressed FAQ for users that go beyond immediate installation needs.

When my wife's computer crashed (for the last time), she had all her letters and forms and passwords stored on the hard drive. So we purchased this handy little case, pulled the hard drive, and she now has all her data and a portable backup to boot. Thanks for the help.

I bought this (when I upgraded my laptop hard drive) for transferring data from my old drive to my larger, new WD 1TB drive. Well-built, the case is sleek and convenient. I'll now use it as a functional storage case for my old drive. Very happy with the quality and construction. I would buy this brand again and would certainly recommend it!

I have purchased several hard drive enclosures but I think I like these the best. The drive sits firmly inside the unit unlike another brand I tried. It works great and is a great way to add an external hard drive or to hold your old hard drive as a back up.

Needed a budget option to send some video footage to an editor out of state. Rather than sending out our personal external hard drive, I popped into my local best buy and found this gem. inexpensive and works like a charm thank you best buy for offering the insignia brand at such a wonderful price point,

I have to say we did not know what this was, but we found out something new. You take memory board/card out of your computer and place in the box, it has all your information and dose not take up room on your computer. Easy to use. Thank you to the Best Buy staff for showing us about this item!
