Was looking for an external enclosure to put a 2.5” hdd in and decided to give this a try, works flawlessly, haven’t been able to try it on a high speed USB port but I’m sure the physical disk would be the limiting factor in performance unless a ssd is used.

I used this item before. Many people don't know they can make an internal laptop hard drive into an external hard drive. It is easy to put together and use immediately after.

This case allowed me to turn an internal solid state drive into an external solid state drive for quick and reliable mass data backup. I have now bought two of these cases and they both have been housing two solid state drives for around four months without any issues whatsoever.

I had a laptop die, I thought it was the screen and suspected the hard drive was still just fine. Bought the enclosure, removed the hard drive from the dead laptop and popped it in the enclosure., Easy as it get. Plugged in the hard drive and there it was. Now I have backup for minimal cost.

I searched Amazon for a 2.5 inch hard drive enclosure and all I could see were products that failed after two weeks. I got this one because I had an old 2.5 hard drive laying around. now I have an external hard drive I use for my time machine drive.

Great enclosure. You don't need anything more than what you get with this. Two screws to open, connect drive to internal SATA board, slide the drive in, screw it shut and connect via USB. Works well for SSD and HDD drives.

It was a perfect fit for my old hard drive that I still had from one of my previous laptops. It even worked to make it into a new hard drive.

If you have a internal HDD or SSD lying around the house unused and you don't wish to pay full price for a external hard drive is device is perfect for you. I wanted to add memory to my PlayStation 4 and I had a internal 2 TB SSD and found this device to be the perfect solution

My old laptop's processor went out, but I didn't want to lose everything on the hard drive. The instructions are crystal clear, it comes with everything you need(including a mini-screwdriver) to take a hard drive and plug it in and access your hard drive from another device.

I recently updated my PS4 to an SSD. I got one of these cases to store the old drive as an external drive for future use. This case feels very solid and durable. I like it more than the case of a WD external hard drive that my wife bought a while ago.

Put an old hard drive from my laptop in this and it works great.

I have a few bare drives from an old laptop floating around so I thought I would get one of these and keep it in my travel bag just in case. I’ve used it a handful of times and speeds seem normal to me. Good pick up.

Works great for cloning a hard drive to a new ssd drive. Just put a hard drive in and plug the included cord into a usb port. Only gripe would be that you have to remove 2 screws. Not a big deal but some kind of latch would be more convenient.

I use this to transfer footage from the ssd I use with my camera to my computer. To that end, it’s great, particularly for the price. I’ll eventually pick up an actual drive dock but until then, this works just fine.

If you do not know what to do with an old laptop, turn its hard drive to additional external memory !!! You keep it out of a landfill, and get a very solid dependable way to have a have a portable hard drive.

This item worked perfectly for my HD swap. Swapped at 500GB (7200 rpm) drive for a Toshiba 1TB Hybrid Solid State Drive. Now I have a very fast and reliable portable HD. My only complaint is price. It should be about $7 - $10 cheaper. Best Buy needs to start matching online retailers' prices!

Using to access my old laptop drive, laptop had failed. Works fine. It comes with all items necessary to hold a 2.5" HDD or SSD. You only have to access the connection end of the unit with the included screwdriver. The other end cap has a foam pad to secure the drive in place, I did remove this end during the installation which allowed me to center my drive within the enclosure, then put it back on. The foam has some compression to it which allows the enclosure to securely hold the HDD in place, this should provide some protection from shock. The unit comes with a USB 3.0 cable but I did purchase a longer cable to allow more versatility in the location on my desk. I am using Vista 64, once plugged in the computer recognized and assigned a drive letter (lowest available letter). I used the manage computer on my PC to change the drive letter. I have multiple USB drives on my desk and I use a mail sorter to hold my drives, this enclosure is thin enough that it fits in a sorter slot.

I bought this insignia hard drive enclosure so thst I can use with my laptop hard drive. My computer crashed but luckily hard drive was still in perfect working order, so I was able to use this hard drive adapter enclosure. Now works as portable hard drive to save music, movies, etc.

Laptop keyboard and power were damaged beyond reasonable repair cost. Removed hard drive and installed in enclosure. Plugged into another laptop and recovered files that were needed. Reformatted drive for use with Windows or Mac and transferred files back. Works great.

My HDD was dying so was tryig to save my data. I had a backup but not everything. Anyhow, 1st thought was to get into Best Buy and of course, thay had what I needed. Well made, does what is needed. Item is well made and does what you need (if your drive isn't completely shot).
