This is a great value, and it has served me well. I bought it when I was upgrading the hard drive on my computer, and I needed this enclosure to put one of hard drives in as part of the process of transferring the data from the old drive to the new drive. I now use this enclosure, along with the old drive taken out of my computer now inside this enclosure, to hold back-ups of critical files from my computer.

Computer took nose dive after swimming. Dismantled and retrieved harddrive. Used external case to access harddrive on another computer. Worked as advertised

The device worked wella dn was a good price. Only thing I would like to see improved, the cord does not go fully in. It functions fine, but I feel like i need to be extra delicate with the cord connection.

Life saver as my 3+ year old HP M6 Laptop died. Was imperative to save the data on the drive. Geek Squad pulled the drive finding it was intact and without corruption. Geek recommended I utilize the Insignia 2.5 Serial ATA Hard Drive Enclosure to make my drive useful as an external drive. This has saved me hours of hunt, find, retrieve from data diluted backup and migrate to my new Laptop. I simply connected by USB provided and migrate as needed. Once I’m done, will save the drive as a portable, slip into my pocket external drive. Setup all managed smoothly by Plug-and-Play. What a life (and sanity) saver!

I had an old laptop that had charging and battery issues but the hard-disk was intact. We used the Insignia enclosure to recover the required files from the hard disk!

I got this to clone a new SSD for a laptop. Did all I needed now the SSD is in the laptop and the old HDD is my backup. Worked using Acronis True Image program. had no issues.

It does not give any type of instructions of how to use it. I would have thought that because it was a holder for a hard drive that there would be some guidance on how to transfer data, but had to google it.

These are good. Bought 2 of them. You do have to disassemble to mount drives. Good enclosures and works well!

My Mom's laptop computer stopped booting up, but she still had a lot of files on the hard drive that were not backed up anywhere. I opened up the computer, removed the 2.5" hard drive (laptops are 2.5", desktops are 3.5") to make sure it had a Serial ATA connection. Once the hard drive is out of your computer (or a new 2.5" drive is purchased), just plug it into the enclosure, put the couple screws in, "plug and play" using a different computer to be able to access your files as an external drive. This enclosure worked perfectly, and I'd definitely recommend it to others in a similar bind.

It was easy to put the hard drive into the case and extremely easy to use. There is one USB card and it plugs easily into the USB for the computer. It was a good idea to use this product.

Just replaced my hard drive with an SSD and decided to use the old one as a back up. Bought the enclosure to make it easy to access the drive and keep it safe.

Used this enclosure for the 750 gb hard drive I removed from my 2010 macbook pro which had dead graphics card. easy to install old hard drive and works flawlessly.

I replaced my laptop drive with a SSD and put the old drive in this enclosure. The usb 3.0 is crazy fast and provides a great portable place to store pictures and old files.
