It does not give any type of instructions of how to use it. I would have thought that because it was a holder for a hard drive that there would be some guidance on how to transfer data, but had to google it.

My Mom's laptop computer stopped booting up, but she still had a lot of files on the hard drive that were not backed up anywhere. I opened up the computer, removed the 2.5" hard drive (laptops are 2.5", desktops are 3.5") to make sure it had a Serial ATA connection. Once the hard drive is out of your computer (or a new 2.5" drive is purchased), just plug it into the enclosure, put the couple screws in, "plug and play" using a different computer to be able to access your files as an external drive. This enclosure worked perfectly, and I'd definitely recommend it to others in a similar bind.

Just replaced my hard drive with an SSD and decided to use the old one as a back up. Bought the enclosure to make it easy to access the drive and keep it safe.

I had a keyboard & battery issue. This item allowed me to use the hard drive from the pc and retain my info. Good purchase.

Hey it does exactly what I needed it to do. I had an extra SSD laying around and wanted to make it a fast external drive. And this does just that. No complaints.

Great hard drive enclosure. Fit perfect for a 2.5 laptop hard drive OR solid state drive (SSD). Comes with the screw driver to remove the drive connector and connect to a SATA drive.
