Failed USB Disk Drive Data Recovered

I used this device to recover my son's wedding pictures from a backup USB drive. He had lost the drive on his computer and went to use the backup USB and it did not work either. The USB drive was not recognized by his computer. I did some research and discovered the disk drive could be removed from the USB unit and hooked directly into a computer. The disk drive was still not recognized. I then found some Linux software, purchased this unit and was able to successfully recover about 60GB of data. It took over 2 weeks of runtime, but it was recovered. He and his wife are very happy with the results.

This little accessory saved quite a lot of money. My last computer fried but the hard drive was salvageable. Simply removed the hard drive from the dead computer, pushed it into the slot in the device, plugged the transfer cable into the new PC and plugged in the power. After a long time reading the old drive (1.5T) all the data was easily recognized without having to have a program to back up the data previously for transfer. This will not transfer any programs though only your data files in case anyone thinks or wants it to. Do not power off the device without closing all opened windows in the now externally used hard drive as it could cause corruption also be careful the drive can be removed while being it is being read. Make sure you place it in a steady location as the drive can wobble a little.

This was instrumental in allowing me to pull my hard drive from a failed laptop, insert it into a bay here and retrieve all my data. Easy to use. Also easy if you want to use a hard drive or two in addition to the internal drives on a system. Works with my Linux systems but will work with all Operating Sysytems with a USB connection.

the product was fairly priced and did exactly what I needed it to do. Allowed me to remove my old hard drive and then plug into the unit and then plug directly to my new laptop and I could see the old hard drive and remove all of my information off of it.

If you have a few hard drives laying around, this thing comes in handy. You can also experiment with RAIDs or boot OS's externally. Ie. you use Rufus to install a live OS to a drive, tap your boot menu and select the exteral. USB3.1 gives you 450->500MB a second. I use it to prep my solid state drives. It works with Windows, Linux, and Mac. I got mine on sale but no I.T. professional should be without one. Also great if you just want to buy drives for backups. There are numerous things you can do with this.

My data rescue solution (No thanks to Seagate)

I couldn't pass this up. I was thinking about buying an enclosure for a 4TB harddrive I stripped out of a Seagate NAS device that stopped communicating. I knew the hdd was still good, but could not connect to it by way of the network. The only problem was that the drive was formatted for Linux, so I had to find Windows software to read a Linux partition. Once that was done I transferred the files to another drive and then wiped the 4TB drive and reformatted it as a Windows drive. Now I use it as backup. I like that there are two ports on this docking station allowing transfer of files from one drive to another making upgrading drives easy.
