Great product - worked just fine!

I had a client whose hard drive had crashed. I used this adapter to eventually get the data off the crashed hard drive. It took some time, but it saved me from having to send the drive to data-saving company. Well worth the money.

I pulled my old Mac hard drive out and my old desktop hard drive out so I can recycle the computer but still have access to the information. This was a good choice and it’s small enough to fit on desk without being in the way

Straight forward no frills docking station, will not work with the old WD Raptors with the giant heat sinks without removing the heat sink (the SATA connection is centered instead of offset), but once removed had no issues.

Actually Win10 was the issue and just would not load. I had not made a recovery disk and tried everything to restore and recover the data,...restore point, repair options but nothing. I hadn't created a backup disk either, my lack of foresight but the PC wasn't that old. The thing just died in an instant. But I was using that PC for my own business stuff and the data was my concern. I went in to BB to purchase another computer and the sales guy told me about this device to retrieve that data. I had doubts but WOW! I was able to get all my data off the old drive with ease. Really saved me a ton of trouble.

Does What It's Supposed To!

Over time, you might even run out of room for it and buy a larger hard drive. You might also need a way to easily transfer data from an old internal drive to a new one. You might also need to see if an external hard drive's interface failed and the data is still on the drive. This beautiful little unit allows you to do all of that quickly, reliably and simply. Highly recommended for its plug and play features and the dual ports!

Backed up and cloned my hard drive, good buy!

This fit the bill perfectly. I was able to xfer my data directly from the old HDD to the new desktop with minimum of effort. Plus; I got it as an open box item so I saved about 25% off retail. Win Win.

Software needed

Seeing as that is what it is made for a trial or something would have been nice. The software I needed to finish the job cost the same if not more then the equipment. At that point the cheaper sata to usb cable style adapter does the something as what this does for half the price would have gone that route but in a pinch like I was in it did the job as described they just need to be more descriptive it is strictly hardware.

Pretty straight forward: Pop in the drives, plug in for power & connect the USB. From there, do what you want with the drives. Read/write/format.
