Was able to pop in hold hard drive and connect to new laptop and recovered files. The only thing I dislike is that it needs to be plugged into outlet so you have limited room/space. Other than that, this is a must have as a tech person.

Like others have said, i have concerns about it breaking due to the way the hard drives sit vertically into this reader. They do not sit in the reader very snug so if you were to bump the hard drive a little too hard, i can see the connection between the reader and drive breaking. That said, if this is something that is just going to sit on your desk in an area that is safe and not be moved, it will work fine for you.

Just put the drive in the slot, connect to your new computer, and the power and press the on switch. A minute later my computer had installed the drivers and I was able to get to all the files on my old drive.

I use this with the hard drives that I have collected from older computers I had, and from when I upgraded to SSDs. It's for use with SATA drives but uses USB 3.0/3.1 speeds. Despite this, being able to hot swap drives makes it very convenient to read/write to/from the hard drives for cold storage.

Worked perfectly

Didn't have time to check it. Pulled out the unopened device, my friend said, "What if this doesn't work?" I shrugged. Worked perfectly right out of the box.

I had a dying hard drive that I lost data and allowed me to dock it into this. Pair it with disk genius and I was able to recover most if not all of the data. I would recommend this for any IT person who has a bench or a kit they take with them.

I used a 2.5ssd and a 3.5 hdd and both just plug and play without any issues. Was aboe to transfer a couole of 100 Gb without any setbacks. Really nice compact solution.

I have not used one yet to actually clone a drive, but I can see how easy that would be. The main reason I purchased this one was when I decided to scan a lot of paid bill receipts and personal documents. I scanned years worth of documents onto one hard drive in the dock, and then copied that drive over to a second hard drive in the dock. One of those I stored in a safe at home and the other in a safe deposit box. This gave me a much higher feeling of comfort and safety.
