I've been using the Sabrent USB 3.0 to SATA External Hard Drive Docking Station for about two weeks now, and I'm generally pleased with its performance. I replaced my old SSK dock with this one after it failed within a year, and so far, this Sabrent dock has been a more reliable choice.
The speeds on this dock are definitely an improvement over my old one. I've connected my Synology Disk Station to the dock via USB, and I've achieved transfer speeds of up to 120 MBps. Response times are also snappy, making it easy to transfer files and data.

I have not used the device extensively, but it seems to perform as advertised. I did not see the Speed performance I expected when plugged into the USB port of my " HP Laptop PC 15-dy2000 ". The Drive I used was a "Toshiba DT01 ACA100, (Sata 6.0 GB/s 7200RPM)". I considered the Drive Slow in my Desktop so I had Replaced it with a SSD, but needed a few files I forgot to backup prior to removal.
The device is Simple to Use; Connect USB and Power cables, Plug the drive in then turn on the Power. The drive will mount and be recognized.

If you want a cheap, fast USB3 docking station for fast transfers to or from cold storage, this is your toaster.
First of all, it is indeed fast if you use fast drives on fast USB. I get a full 400-500 GBs over USB3 5Gb ports with my spare Samsung EVO850s popped in the slots. If you're not getting those speeds your USB port is the bottleneck, not the device.
Keep in mind, you get what you pay for. If you unmount the drives with the "remove drive" function, Windows does not unmount the drive, it unmounts that SLOT. You will not be able to re-use that slot unless you reboot your computer. So you won't be using more than two drives between boots.
And this is a "Toaster". If you leave hard disk drives in it for any length of time, they will get ungodly hot, which is not good for your drive. Do what you need to do, then turn it off.
It is still an incredible value for the money, and a highly useful tool for handling cold-storage files. I would definitely buy again.

An absolute game changer and necessity. I have used this a few times when upgrading or even repair/replace situations and it made every aspect of transferring or updating a system so easy and efficient - everybody with large file transfers or even just for use as a hot swappable backup setup. You know where using four drives, ssd and/or hdd work, so that you always have a latest backup of your main drives, swapping out a drive routinely scheduled.

a fantastic external HDD bay for its price and it allows for not only full size drives but SSDs as well and has a USB 3.0 port on the other side so you can put in a USB drive or device in there and it will transfer at 3.0 speeds
it does require DC power though so be sure to have a plug and a half ready and open to use this things power brick

Very good for its purpose! It works very well from what I can tell. I use this with the hard drives that I have collected from older computers I had, and from when I upgraded to SSDs. It's for use with SATA drives but uses USB 3.0/3.1 speeds. Despite this, being able to hot swap drives makes it very convenient to read/write to/from the hard drives for cold storage.

After one of my desktops died I rushed out looking for sata readers in order to gather the data from hard drives. I used a 2.5ssd and a 3.5 hdd and both just plug and play without any issues. Was aboe to transfer a couole of 100 Gb without any setbacks. Really nice compact solution.

These docking bays are so easy to use and make a great way to to transfer data from my in computer hard drive to a storage hard drive. I have not used one yet to actually clone a drive, but I can see how easy that would be. The main reason I purchased this one was when I decided to scan a lot of paid bill receipts and personal documents. I scanned years worth of documents onto one hard drive in the dock, and then copied that drive over to a second hard drive in the dock. One of those I stored in a safe at home and the other in a safe deposit box. This gave me a much higher feeling of comfort and safety.

I bought this and plugged into my AIO's USB 3.0 port. I snapped in a SATA 3" drive and Windows 10 recognized it and assigned a drive letter automatically. I scanned the files on this old drive and all the data was still there! I like that it is not enclosed where heat could be an issue. The drives stay cool while plugged into this device. Get one and you can recycle old drives, even the 2" ones from laptops. No need to buy portable drives for backup purposes. Highly recommended!

Its kind of big, clunky and awkaed to store since you only need to use it 1-2x per lifetime, if you’re like me, an average consumer. But it worked as well as they said it would and i’m very pleased about that!
