After settling it up and syncing to my PC it is a great back up device which is my old hard drivr from my replaced PC. Geek squad walked me through till the end. Works great and doesn't overheat at all. Great fan and just clean intake monthly and keeps cool.

Does not accomodate all hard drives

One hard drive from a Hewlett Packard of 2011, fit into this machine and copied the files onto my new p.c. like it should have. The old hard drive from my Hewlett Packard of 2003 had a different kind of hard drive and the machine would not take it. When you buy this, they tell you that it takes any hard drive and this is not true.

I had a 12 years old laptop that was no longer functional due to motherboard related issues. It had 2 hard drives that were perfectly functional. This made it possible to keep and use those 2 drives. So far, it has been very reliable.

It worked like a charm, you just plug and play through the supplied USB cable. The drivers load automatically, and then the HDD appears like any other drive. I was able to recover all my important files thanks to this docking station. FYI it only takes SATA.
