Uggggh, My computer died and i hadn't backed it up since.???? I was sure it wasn't the hard drive and i was sure there was info on there i needed, along w/ some photos. I went to best buy to see if there was any device to plug my salvaged HD to operate it like an external drive. The Tech at Best Buy knew exactly what i needed and directed me to this 2 Bay HHD docking station. I took it out of box, inserted my salvaged HD, plugged in its power and the USB cable into my NEW desktop. that is all it took. the salvaged HD showed up on my new computers desk top as another drive. Clicking on that icon opened and gave me access to every thing i needed on that drive. PERFECT. could not have been any easier. now i have a spare drive for extra storage. Worth every penny.

Super easy to use. Just put the drive in the slot, connect to your new computer, and the power and press the on switch. A minute later my computer had installed the drivers and I was able to get to all the files on my old drive.

My Mac Pro system hard drive crashed and I needed to try to recover the data from the drive, which wouldn't mount. I removed the bad drive from the Mac Pro, purchased the Insignia docking station, docked the bad drive in it and plugged it into my MacBookPro to run data recovery software. I was able to recover my files from the drive, then ran backups of everything by plugging various drives into the docking station. The Insignia worked flawlessly and saved me a ton of time. I highly recommend it.

I moonlight as a computer helper and I have found that these are one of my go-to tools. I don’t do much hardware stuff, but I do setup a lot of new computers. This tools is the most efficient way to transfer data from the previous computer. I pull out the hard drive, plug it into the adapter and it’s ready to go. It’s also a good tool for converting cheap internal drives into cheap external PnP drives. I keep one at home on my bench and one in my car for computer guy house calls.

It worked perfect for pulling programs off of old harddrives.

Nice way to power up my external hard drives. I usually keep two 3" drives in this and ready to use. You can easily swap drives as need though. Very convenient.

Its kind of big, clunky and awkaed to store since you only need to use it 1-2x per lifetime, if you’re like me, an average consumer. But it worked as well as they said it would and i’m very pleased about that!

If you're looking at a single bay model, get this two-bay instead. Using free cloning software available online, this allowed me to duplicate my failing hard drive onto a new hard drive and keep my laptop going. It also allowed me to retrieve device drivers from one hard drive to another which fixed issues with my desktop computer. It will come in handy when I clone all my hard drives in case of hard drive failures.

Great products are used for saving and transferring data in your computer. if you worry about opening up your PC this is a product you may consider having. You also need another USB-to-USB cable. You can use both SSD and HDD on it.

The dock does what ot needs to do. I may actually buy more drives to use as client specific daya storage units. Whats more secure than a drive thats easily removed from the hardware? Yeah, maybe its a bit slower to use like that, and not as readily available, but when you're storing specific corporate identity data, I'd rather be secure than sorry.

Not a fan of the design but the product does works as advertised. Like others have said, i have concerns about it breaking due to the way the hard drives sit vertically into this reader. They do not sit in the reader very snug so if you were to bump the hard drive a little too hard, i can see the connection between the reader and drive breaking. That said, if this is something that is just going to sit on your desk in an area that is safe and not be moved, it will work fine for you.

Used for a client needing a quick external setup on IMac. Works flawlessly

In the past, we did not know what to do when one of our computers went bad; we took for granted that all the information we had stored in the hard drive was lost or very difficult to retrieve (we are not too savvy with computers). We would normally copy the files into a USB and transfer the files that way. That was very tedious until we came across this handy 2-Bay HDD docking station. All we did was, we took the hard drive out of the old computer and placed it on this docking station, and we were able to retrieve all our stored information in a matter of minutes. Works great. Our old computer was damaged by a lightning strike. We lost the computer but, were able to save all of our information.

Easy to use, excellent drive reader. no problems whatsoever

As with other products, I can't vouch for how well this works on Windows or OSX, but Linux works great with this docking station. I have been using it regularly since I purchased it to do image copies and backups of laptop and desktop drives before their systems are send off to surplus and never hit a glitch. It also works great for troubleshooting troublesome drives and getting data off before they fail.

I needed an easier way to switch between drives. Now I don't have to anymore! This is a great solution for anyone who needs to expand their drives or swapping out drives easily.

The docking station worked perfectly cloning my old HHD to a new SSD.

I used this to desperately recover lost data on a NAS I built for one of my family members when the server needed to be updated and my goofy self forgot to disconnect the drive to prevent it from being formatted into the void this pared with some good software will save your butt if you are like me and sometime forget to put your coffee in the mug
