On the other hand, if sound quality rivaling the worst pair of computer speakers you've ever gotten to hear is your entire goal, then these are five stars. My reference point for speakers of this size are Radio Shack Minimus 7 speakers from the 1980s-1990s, which are a -superior- buy to these if you can find a used pair someplace. Potential uses: paperweights, footballs, surround sound speakers for a poor-quality home theater, noisemakers for those times when you need some type of sound to surround you but do not care if the sound is of a high-quality (i.e. you need a noisemaker, not a loudspeaker, nor a speaker).
