In recent years, I’ve migrated to smaller laptops, with screen sizes of around 14 inches. This is great for portability, but with less space available for the keyboard, the dedicated number pad is the first thing to go. While that’s not a problem often, extended numeric data entry is much easier with a dedicated number pad. The Insignia 22-key Bluetooth number pad is the perfect addition to any laptop keyboard. It’s small and light, and is powered by a single AAA battery. I haven’t had it long enough to really test the battery life, but my expectation is that I won’t have to worry about replacing the battery for a long time. Pairing the keypad is simple: just hold down the Bluetooth key for a few seconds, and when the blue LED starts blinking, it’s ready to pair. The same LED also serves as the “Num Lock” indicator. The keys feature good travel, and the scissor switches feel good while entering numbers. The underside features rubber feet which are helpful for keeping it from sliding across the desk. Entering lots of numbers using this keypad is much easier than trying to use the top row of numbers on a keyboard, and the keys feel good enough that it’s not annoying to use. I thought it was strange at first that there is a Num Lock key. After all, it’s a numeric keypad, so what else am I gonna do with it? However, turning off Num Lock enables the cursor keys, allowing you to move your cursor around if you have a need to do that. There’s also a key to bring up the calculator, which is another convenient feature. I only have Windows computers, and this feature worked well for me. With a reasonable price, solid build quality, nice tactile feel in the keys, and a few extra features, this keypad is the one to get. I’m glad I finally did!

Moving to a ten keyless (TKL) keyboard setup at home has allowed me to reclaim some space on my desk, but it made me miss my num pad. I don't ALWAYS need the num pad at home but when I do I'm pecking at the keyboard to hunt for numbers laid out. I don't know why my brain or my hands don't like the numbers linearly laid out and want to fight me when I need to type out numbers or passcodes. Num pads like the qwerty keyboard are seared into my head where I can touch type without needing to look at them. I wanted to see if having a stand alone num pad which I can have near by my TKL board and push away when not needed and was pleasantly surprised with how it works out. I can also move it to the left side of my keyboard if needed, but my left hand sometimes says what the what for a moment. The Insignia is by no means any revolutionary typing experience that any other scissor style switch would offer, but it does give me the ability to bang away at numbers as if using a full sized KB without having to peck like a neanderthal. All the numbers and ancillary controls along with the appropriate sizing for all keys are present along with a top row of other somewhat useful functions are an added bonus. Connection is via Bluetooth with no noticeable input lag and I don't have to deal with a dongle which I need to worry about keeping track of. The num pad connects quickly and reliably and I don't have to give it a second thought once it is paired. It just works. I would've preferred to see a usb c rechargeable num pad so I don't have to deal with batteries but for the price, I can always chuck it and get a new one of the horrible alkaline batteries ever leak all over the insides. The unit is also very light, so much so that I've actually decided to pair it with my laptop and it lives in my laptop bag adding imperceivable weight to it and use it on the go. I will be looking for mechanical num pad to match the mechanical keyboard for home use. Anyone looking for an affordable, light weight num pad for either home or road use, you really shouldn't go wrong with this Insignia Bluetooth Num Pad.

Best buy, don't advertise products that are not available for sale. This was ordered a month ago and it still has not arrived.

It doens't work with my IMAC and it works ok with my surface pro. I need to return and get a different one

Absolutely love this keypad! I travel a lot for work and this is the perfect companion to my laptop for getting work done when on the road. At an airport, in a hotel room, or at the office, this works for all my needs. Aside from it being extremely lightweight and thin, it has no plug in USB extension so it won't take up any ports. It connects via Bluetooth by holding down the Tab button for a few seconds. Super easy and clean. The keypad is lightweight and slim but the travel of the keys and responsiveness is perfect. Overall build quality is great and I have had no problems with this. As someone who works with numbers, this is essential. Highly recommend as a gift to a friend or family member and have already recommended to multiple coworkers as a stocking stuffer. Overall, this is a simple solution to a glaring problem with smaller, business laptops, which is the lack of a number pad. This has been the perfect solution and I highly recommend it to anyone who has a smaller laptop but wants the full number pad experience. The ability to pair via Bluetooth vs a USB port is a huge plus.

I purchased this to use with a Macbook. It connects via Bluetooth, so I have to press any key a couple times before it turns on (a bit annoying at times since it doesn't turn on instantly). Overall, it serves as a regular 10-key. It's pretty responsive and quiet, and it has rubber feet so it doesn't slide on the desk. There's an icon for a calculator, which doesn't seem to do anything (this could be an incompatibility with the Mac operating system, not sure). The Num Lock also doesn't seem to work (again, this could be an incompatibility with Mac). I never used Num Lock anyway, so it's not an issue for me. Overall, it's ok - not the best for Mac, but it functions.

Its size is perfect , the keypad has all the features I was looking for, however, I paired for MacBook Air sequoia 15.2 and no option for keypad. Push escape , get Ansi, Iso options. Numbers work, enter works, no calculator, numbers lock nope, sorry, the driver needs updated. Wait until description includes driver for Mac sequoia. The box indicates OS10.

Works great. Sometimes hard to disconnect and reconnect but otherwise fine.
