It was very easy to remove the hard drive from my old computer and insert it into this shell. It converted my internal hard drive to an exterior hard drive for extra storage. All my files were intact.

The power supply on my WD MyBook failed Geek squad took the drive out of the casing and I bought this for the shell and it works great. Love that it has a power switch which the actual casing for the WD did not.

With a hard drive and this enclosure I was able to save content from a dish network Hopper before it was upgraded. The transition was seamless once the hard drive was installed in this enclosure.

Unfortunately, experience proves the drive will turn off randomly. It comes back just fine, but feel as if this will damage the drive in the long run.

And I do not mean that in a nice way. The casing got too hot when the drive was left on all day and I was only using it as an external backup drive.

I had a serial hard drive from an old PC just keeping papers down, so I installed it inside this case, now it has some baby pictures. Windows 10 had no problem detecting the case.

I bought this to recover data from a "dead" hard drive. It did EXACTLY what I thought it would do. Got all the information off the drive and now have a 1TB external backup drive.

As mentioned by others, I've never been able to get this enclosure to operate for longer file transfers because it disconnects regularly. Bummer because it's nicely made.

I upgraded a 2TB drive in a server and took the old drive which, with the addition of this enclosure, became great scratch disk space for my son's video making process.

My best advice is to read the instructions! You MUST use the mounting screws in order for it work properly. Needless to say, I am male and didn't do it the first time........

After an older hard drive went bad, I salvaged the drive and installed in this enclosure. Super fast transfer speeds and solid construction, couldn't ask for more.

Was looking for a sturdy case for my 1 tb external hdd. Geek squad suggested this. Had absolutely no trouble putting this in place and had my hdd up and running within minutes.

This item is a great way to convert your internal hard drive into an external one. It saves a lot of time transferring files from one computer to another.

Great enclosure. A little pricey but works great! Bought 2, 1 would not recognize 2 tb drive. Brought back to Best Buy and was replaced. Replacement worked fine.

The enclosure came with all of the screws and screwdriver and instructions I needed to recover my data from the old hard drive on my broken computer.

Saved my Bacon when my MB failed. I had to save six years of information. Installed and plug and play. Very happy with the Sata case, but it worked!

I used the enclosure to help troubleshoot my 27 inch mac drive problem. After which I added a 500 gig drive to it and are using it for timemachine on my macpro.

I had a 1TB hard drive sitting around with no place to put it.So I bought this enclosure to turn it into an external drive. Useful for a backup drive.

This is not shown on the box. Beware! I purchased this to use with older hard drives taken from out of date computers. I needed top return the product

The enclosure got extremely hot with my 1.5 GB 3.5" Seagate drive. It needs a fan or cooling fins. I returned because of the heat.
