I have had this outlet since it went on sale. Installed it as per instructions and loved it. It was difficult to get my coffee pot plugged in but figured had to do with the safety feature. NOPE!!! Got worse over time... now it won't allow me to plug anything. The USB's work, but need my coffee in the morning!! Of course it's outside the window that BEST BUY will allow it to be returned but then again I threw away the box etc. The best buy about this is that I didn't pay full price for it. I am also glad that my order for several of them didn't go through as they didn't have them in stock. WHEW dodged a bullet there. Would be super upset if they all were doing this. I am glad a lot of people got good ones and gave 5 star reviews. I am not one of them. OH WELL... I am sure Best Buy won't care about this review... so why am I making it, because the one I have is nothing but junk now.

Overall great outlet. I picked it up when it was on sale. I would recommend it.

Since the current passes between both outlets, you cannot use this on a half hot switched outlet. The switch will not work and the outlet will always be hot regardless of the switch position.

I purchased 4 of these on sale and wish I hadn't. I've so far installed two out of the 4 outlets and BOTH of them have defective tamper-resistant shutters. Tamper-resistant shutters are supposed to work that by plugging both prongs in at once, the shutters retract. Not so, with ANY of the 4 plugs in the two outlets I've installed. Plugging something in requires many minutes of wiggling to get it plugged in. I've thrown out the two I didn't install and will be removing the two I've installed the next time I do electrical work. Do NOT buy these, no matter how cheap they are. These would have been fine if they hadn't insisted on making them tamper-resistant. As they are, they're unusable.

Well, I must be part of the 4% that didn't love this product. A wall outlet serves one purpose, to allow you to plug things into it. On this count, the Insignia™ - 3.6A USB Charger Wall Outlet failed miserably. Some plugs, after a disturbing amount of force, would plug in - while others simply would not go into the outlet. Maybe it's the safety mechanism? I don't know. Thankfully, after 19 minutes on the phone (a little too long for such a simple problem) they're going to send me another one, After reading all of these positive reviews, I'm encouraged that the new one will be OK.

With 3.6A output this outlet swap-out charges any device, iPads, other tablets, phones, etc. I have one in my kitchen and one in my bedroom.

This charger was great when it worked but after about a month of use one of the USB ports failed.
