No programming needed for immediate use with an old Samsung TV and DVD player. I successfully followed the instructions to learn the DVD eject function from the original DVD player remote. The set up to connect existing device offered tv and standard. Since i was using the remote ti program tv. I selected tv. Unfortunately, i should hace selected standard button. So after several attempts i was able to connect my tv to remote. Not a tech wiz ,seems it should have been simplier. Also did not realize volume would be an issue.
