    Great picture but tinny sound

I needed a new TV for the master bedroom. It sits in an armoire and a 32" diagonal is the largest that will fit. After researching the selection online, I decided on the Insignia™ - 32" Class (31.5" Diag.) - LED - 720p - HDTV. I didn't need a smart TV just wanted nice HDTV. One of the reasons I went with this one was the advertised DTS sound. More on that later. The TV itself is decent enough. The quality of construction was good with no apparent defects. Screen was perfect no bad areas and the lighting and brightness were fine. A good number of inputs, HDMI, USB, RCA, COAX, and Digital optical out for a TV of this size. Shouldn't be issues with hookups. The stand is just meh at best. Two plastic "V" shaped feet that screw on the bottom on the ends. Stable but flimsy and hard to swivel. Seems like the feet idea for the stand was just an afterthought. Like the manufacturer felt everyone would wall mount the TV anyways. The picture quality while only 720P looked spectacular hooked up to my DISH Hopper /Joey's. Crisp, clear, and easily seen from both the front and sides. Hard to believe you can get this good of a picture on a sub $120.00 TV. The Joey box instantly found the new remote for the TV and set it automatically. YAY!! No more hours of trying different codes. OK last but not least that advertised DTS sound. The speakers in this TV sound tinny. There's no other way to say it. They are plenty loud enough but the tone suffers. Not what I expected considering how well the rest of the TV is. Considering the very small and thin cabinets on these type of TV's I wasn't expecting theater quality sound but it could sound better. There is a tinniness to the speakers that IMO is annoying. It's easily heard even downstairs. I have the tone control on the TV set with the treble all the way down and the bass all the way up and have a towel under the speakers to muffle it a bit and yet it still has that certain frequency that sounds tinny. The TV sits inside the wardrobe so it's enclosed in a semi-box. With that setup it should increase the low frequencies but it still suffers poor tone from the internal speakers. In all fairness just about all of the TV's of this type have somewhat poor sound so it's hit or miss. My background as a musician tells me the TV speakers are cheap. There is plenty of power in the TV to drive them, they just can't reproduce decent sound. Sad because you have a DTS capable TV with crummy speakers. I won't return it though because the picture and hookups are ideal for my current use. I'll probably add a small soundbar down the road but I can't fit one in the wardrobe space right now. A decent TV worth the price but the sound suffers. That's just my opinion, yours may differ. I would recommend it but with a warning about the speakers. I've added pictures of the stand leg and the towel I placed under the speakers.

    A great 32 inch TV under $100

I had to buy a new TV since my old Seiki from 2014 decided to give up on me. I went to Best Buy and saw there was an early black friday deal for this tv @ only $89.99. The display model had a rather blue tint to it and I think that's because the temperature mode might've been set to cool. So I inspected this TV for about 15 minutes and ultimately decided to purchase it. I felt the price was right and it would be the perfect replacement TV for my room where I use it mainly for gaming on my PS4 and watching tv/movies. I didn't want a TV with smart capabilities. I understand this TV is only $90. But it's 2018 and I can't believe 720p is still a thing. But yes, for the price your getting some serious value here. The feet stands are adequate and don't wobble, the picture is colorful and clear, and the sound produced is very nice and crisp, not tinny like most cheap TVs are. This TV definitely packs a little more punch thanks to the two 5W DTS speakers on the bottom, definitely way better than the speakers on my old Seiki. There was also another 32" TV on sale for an extra $10 more but it was a Sharp. And I know Hisense manufactures the some of the panels used in cheaper Sharp TV's so I didn't bother with it. Especially considering I read somewhere that Toshiba and LG manufacture panels for Insignia TVs. I do own another Insignia TV in my home that's still going strong after 6 years, so I didn't think twice before grabbing yet another TV from Insignia! Plus it's the latest 32" model from 2018. My first unit had to be returned due to a dead pixel issue (I'm very picky when it comes to that kind of stuff). But the replacement is flawless! Like I mentioned earlier, this TV from Insignia has great picture and sound and is definitely worth it for just under $100!

Just got this tv and hooked it up with a refurbished Roku 3. Of course this is a preliminary review which I will update if and when issues arise but I can say I see no downsides to this tv in terms of video and audio. Stock settings work perfectly fine. All my other tvs are the Best Buy store brand Insignia and I have had no issues with any of them. Easy setup on this one. Just attached the two support feet and plugged it in. Voila! Up and running. Am not experiencing the tinny sound that many of reported on this tv. In our bedroom the sound is perfect. We don't need anything with high volume in our bedroom and if we did I would get a soundbar to add on. No delays experienced with sound and video as others have reported. As others have observed, 720p works perfectly fine on a 32 inch display. Of course I am working entirely off a Roku 3 device. I am using the Xfinity Roku app to access live Comcast TV as well as recordings on the Comcast DVR. Image is very sharp and colors look pretty much normal for everything across the board. For the $100 sale price this tv is an unquestionable bargain. Can't see the point in spending two to three times the price if I'm not able to see or hear a difference. I'm racking my head trying to come up with criticism for this product and am coming up empty handed. If I didn't already have the refurbished Roku 3 I would have purchased the Insignia 32 inch Roku smart TV with the Roku built right in. I may be missing something but I just don't see what the other, more expensive 32 inch TVs bring to the table that this one doesn't. Just not seeing any features I would like that are missing. Again, this is a preliminary review because I just got it, but like my experience with other Insignia TVs I have no reason to expect any issues. As far as value is concerned, I'm not even seeing any better values on Amazon. Highly recommended.

The biggest complaints for the other ROKU-imbedded TV choices were the minimal Roku remote with no numbers. This one has a more regular remote which like most TVs today it depends on since there are no controls on the TV. Choosing numbers/letters on a screen keyboard is pain. The TV itself is very light,8.5 lbs.One reason I did not give it 5 stars, is, I nearly stripped the screws on one side putting the feet underneath the TV. Should not have soft metal(aluminum?) for such a task. Not a great TV using the antenna( got 15 digital channels using an indoor RCA flat panel) and only one local network channel(CBS) at that. To be fair, it was in the basement so reception wasn't great, pixelation was an issue but the colors are bright and very good. I will extend the antenna higher up next and see what happens. However, sticking an HDMI. Roku Express does wonders with WIFI(Verizon Fios)on this TV. Images and channels were sharp(despite it's 720p rating) with no problems. Definitely a excellent low cost TV for streaming. Wish it has 3 HDMI ports so I can also stick a DVD player and Cable but, most likely with streaming, you really don't need it. I got it on sale for under $120 which is awesome consider I paid $1800 for my main 40" Sony LCD TV a few years ago. No missing pixels so far, so far so good. I would definitely recommend this as a second or third TV for a guest room, dorm, basement or garage. 4.5 stars is my true rating.

I really was not expecting much for a 32 inch HDTV that cost $99 - which was a lot lower than any 32 inch TVs at Wal-Mart or TheTarget. I primarily purchased at to use it as a computer monitor connected to the TV via one of its HDTV outlets. It works great and I no longer have to squint at the laptop's 15" LCD screen to read what's on it. Now, as an HDTV it's perfect. The picture is very clear, the colors are bright and vivid and also true to life. The sound quality is actually quite good which is surprising given how many reviewers felt that could be better. I have in a small bedroom which I converted into a home office and the TV sound is plenty loud and crisp. I rarely have to turn it above #15 to hear the dialogue, music and sound effects. The TV has DTS built-in which greatly improves the depth and range of the sound. Besides using it as a monitor, I have Roku Express hooked up to it which provides several TV & Movie streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video and Sling TV. I have the TV sitting on top of a clothes dresser which provides a very stable base for the TV's legs. This TV has a quality of the TV costing three times as much. I was thinking about getting a sound bar but the TV really does not need any more sound amplification or separation.

I am using the tv as a computer monitor for my laptop and desktop. The two HDMI connections are just enough for that purpose. It was purchased on sale at $90 so the price is right so such a large screen. It does get a bit pixelated when reading text from my computers as it is not as crisp. I'm running 1368x768 on my laptop. I bought it primarily for the larger screen and was willing to forgo the quality. You can't find a 32 inch computer monitor for that price. One thing of note was that I needed to use the tv remote in order to initially set up the connection. There were no UP/DOWN buttons on the screen itself to go through the menus. I did not need/test any of the tv features or ability to get a tv signal from the built-in coax connection. There is no VGA or display port for older computer connections. It's not a smart tv so you would need another device if you wanted to use it for streaming purposes (ie., Roku, Chromecast, etc.) Overall, I'm pleased about the purchase and effectiveness of what I am using it for. For me, it's a good overall product at a great price. I've a value buyer, so the price and value was more important than the features and design or look/feel. Pros: Large screen for the price; decent display quality; nice, sleek look and feel. Cons: Initial set up requires remote for menus; text from computer not as crisp when running higher resolutions.

Decent picture, but audio lag is a deal-breaker

I've had a couple of smaller Insignia TVs in the past and they were quite good for the price, so I went with the brand again for this 32" LED. This time, I was not satisfied. The picture seemed very good, but the audio lagged behind the video. Now, in some cases video can run late, and that can be adjusted with this set's Audio Delay setting. But there's nothing to make up for late audio, and that was this set's downfall. I tested with the cable box and my blu-ray player, on both HDMI ports, and became it clear that the problem was in the TV. The lag was worst when the TV was started cold, improving somewhat after a few minutes but still lagging enough to be noticeable in speech and sound effects. At $129 the price was great, but this was a case of getting what I paid for. I returned the Insignia and replaced it with a Vizio D32, and the difference is well worth the extra money, with a picture that is far better and no sync problem at all.

I had been searching for TV in this size (32" and under) for awhile after our 5-year-old Samsung TV finally quit working. I already owned another (older) Insignia 32" TV so I was already quite familiar with this brand. Even though it is only a 32" TV and only has 720p resolution, it gets a razor-sharp picture and has surprisingly good sound from the small speakers. This set was purchased for use in a small room and will spend most of its time attached to a game console. I was also fortunate to catch a break on the price as Best Buy ran a one day sale so I grabbed it for only $99. Still, even at its full price ($149) I'm happy enough with the TV to give it a 5-star recommendation. For peace of mind, I'd also recommend and encourage adding the extended warranty (2 year plans like mine are as low as $29). Both this Insignia TV and the Geek Squad protection come highly recommended.

First bought an Insignia 19" and had decided I liked it so much, I wanted a bigger screen for my regular viewing, so I saw the discount of $30 online and jumped on it. Went to the store and asked a bunch of questions back in TV department and opted to buy right then and there. I feel like I got a steal on the 32" for $119. It was easy to set up and has the same remote as my other Insignia, so I was familiar. Hardest thing was finding a place large enough to set it up. I opted to not go with wall mounting. I feel it is secure on a small table. I had to buy a 12" wide by 1" thick plywood plank to extend the width of this table to accommodate the TV. I had it cut at 32" length and once the TV was put there, it fit and had width to spare. Having fun watching football currently. All scrolling, scores and other info easy to read with the bigger screen. I recommend this brand of TV. For the price, it is excellent.

I needed a smaller set, due to space considerations. I saw the sale price on this set and was skeptical, at best. LG, Samsung, etc. are the "go to" brands for me. Anyways, I read the reviews, where a lot of people talked about "tinny" sound and so forth. I thought "what the heck," I can always return it, if it's bad. Got the set, hooked it up to a digital antenna for broadcast stations and to a Roku for streaming. This set performs well beyond it's price point! The picture is excellent and the sound is very good. In fact, the only annoyance was the "voice guide," that announced every input you made. Thankfully, that can be switched off in settings. Just as an FYI, my main set is a large screen 4K LG smart TV. Honestly, other than screen size, I see no downfalls to this set. Buy this TV, you can thank me later!

When I bought this TV it was for use with an Standard Definition cable box (a Motorola from Verizon, now Frontier). It was fine. 4 or 5 stars fine. Well a week ago I cut the TV part from Frontier. Where I live I have pretty good OTA reception, and am using free TV. Now my picture is even better! So why only 3 stars? I hate the over the air guide implementation. Why? Only info on current show is shown, not upcoming shows. I have another TV, and it's guide shows me the upcoming shows (on the same channel). When I scroll through the channels, I see the guide/listings for the channel. I miss that. So poor over the air guide/listings is why I'm going three stars. If you are going to use this for OTA TV, it has this short coming. Other than that, a decent TV for the price. A third HDMI port would be nice, but that's easily fixed with an HDMI switch.

This 32" Insignia set is the third one I've bought for our household. The first two were for my sons and their video game consoles in their rooms. This third set was purchased for my own personal use in my den. I have a Blu-Ray DVR player and Google Chrome Cast connected to it and it never lets me down. If you're looking for a reliable set for a den or bedroom (or even to use as a gaming console monitor) this TV is an excellent choice. You will not be disappointed and I recommend it highly. If you keep your eyes open, Best Buy frequently discounts this TV for holidays or offer a promotional savings on it. This can mean significant savings - I was fortunate to find this one on sale marked down to $89, You will not be disappointed!

A few years ago I bought a 32 inch Samsung and returned it...was not satisfied with the picture... and just kept using my old set. After my old dinosaur TV finally bit the dust, I read up on this one and purchased it. I had the setup folks come in and also haul away the old set, which was great. The TV itself...picture is fine...I was concerned about the 720 vs. the 1080 but there is no issue at all. And the sound...I thought I would have to set up my sound bar, but, much to my surprise the sound is good. I've tested it to 50, but usually keep it at around 25-30 and am quite satisfied with the volume. No need to mess with a soundbar!! Pleasantly surprised and am planning a second purchase of this model for my office!

The price was right on this TV. I wanted a basic TV that I can watch the usual stuff... Movies, Sports and TV shows. The picture quality is very good, the size and shape is excellent, and it does all the stuff I wanted it to do and I bet you will be very happy with it, if you are on a budget and need a good TV. The only down side to this TV is that the sound speaker is kind of on the bottom of the TV causing the sound to be diverted to the back of the TV and not out to the front. I played with all the sound adjustments and was not able to make it better. I could hook up an external small speaker and place it in the room behind my TV chair. But for the cost of this machine, I guess the sound is not a very big issue. If you live in a very noisy home, you may want to use an external speaker.

For a while me and my wife were looking to purchase a TV. Colors and sharpness are for us of a big importance. So yes, over time we were looking here and there in different stores. Until the moment that I notice the advertisement of Best Buy's Insignia 32" 720p-HDTV. I remembered to have seen it in another store, so together with my wife we rushed to Best Buy in Waynesville,NC. Bought it! I am an amateur videographer and know about 720p, 1080p till 4K ! I must say the Insignia 32" HDTV 720p is awesome! Me and my wife just love the excellent quality. It's a Winner!!!

I didn't expect much from this no name set that I bought for less than $100 on sale. So I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be very good, at least in terms of picture quality. And I am pretty picky about picture quality. On sets this small, the 720p spec is fine. Nice and sharp. And even better, very good color and contrast, with a little tweaking. HD is a very mature technology now so I guess even the cheapest sets still look quite good. Oh sure, it's not smart (a Roku or Fire stick is better anyway) and the speakers, while adequate, are pretty weak. But for this price, I consider it quite the bargain. Perfect for bedroom, kitchen or other secondary location.

I bought the Insignia 32 inch TV when it was on sale at best buy for $89.00 because I didn't want to spend a lot of money for a new TV. Since the price was so low I didn't have very high expectations for picture quality but wanted to put a set in a bedroom for streaming Netflix and Hulu. When I set it up and turned it on the picture, performance and sound blew me away. it has a high end picture at a budget friendly price. The picture and sound quality is better than a set that was more than 3 times the price. In fact, the sound stays consistent with each movie or program we watch it's fantastic. I would definitely recommend the Insignia brand to anyone looking for a budget friendly TV.

I do not give 5 stars so 4 stars is very good from me. I replaced my old computer monitor with this. My eyesight has deteriorated and I needed a bigger display. The 720P is adequate for me since it is close to the resolution used by most of my laptops. Larger characters are more important to me than putting lots of tiny little windows on the screen. HDMI makes it simple to connect to my computers to get video and sound. Using a TV instead of a monitor has the advantage of a TV tuner when not using the computer. These HDTVs are more compact than older models and can fit the smaller space I have allocated for my main computer. Multiple HDMI ports allows connecting my laptop without disconnecting the desktop.

I didnt expect much from this set for the price but was pleasantly surprised by the picture quality, which is quite good for a sub $100 model (on sale). I an running a 4K Fire Stick and it all looks pretty good. The out of the box settings aren't the best. Spend some time tweaking the picture settings. If you do, you will get an excellent picture. As for the sound, eh, it's not so great. One would think since they make a big deal out of it having DTS sound, it would sound pretty great. It does not. Zero bass. Not even much midrange. Very shrill and thin., Too treble. Changing the audio settings seem to make absolutely no difference. Get a cheap sound bar and be happy.

I purchased this television, got it home, "CAREFULLY" removed it from the box. I then set it up as per the directions..."VERY EASY TO FOLLOW BTW"...And powered it up, and from that point on, I and my wife have been "SHOCKED! and AWED!"... This television has "OUT PERFORMED" our old television that died, in every way possible. The "CLARITY" of the picture just "HAS TO BE SEEN" to fully comprehend what I am saying. This is the "BEST TELEVISION" I and my wife have had in our 30 years of marriage. If and when this one goes..."bye bye"... (As they say)... Well...NEEDLESS to say..."WE WILL!" get another!
