I ran this unit in my problem area overnight and the data logger I set shows the humidity was at a steady 70%. I placed a power meter on it and can see that something is running because the fan draws around 50w and in the dehumidification cycle the unit is drawing 200w. I do not mind receiving a defective unit because it happens, but I purchased this as a Deal of the Day at BestBuy, but when I start the return process BestBuy.com says I can only receive a credit for the purchase price (and lose the deal). This would be a 2-star review pending a new unit, but because of the hassle of having to sort this out with people I can only give 1-star. Get on your game BB.

I was hoping this unit would be great as my luck with Insignia products has been good in the past. I’ve had this unit for about 3 months now and it stops dehumidifying randomly. I know it stops based on the noise level as well as the hydrometers I have in the same room as the unit. I plan to return the unit as it is within warranty.

The return period is 15 days. I was 2 days past the 15 before noticing it was no longer functioning. Best Buy has been entirely unhelpful after speaking to 3 different reps. They will not accept return or replace the unit. Looking at other 1 star reviews shows this to be a common story with this dehumidfier. My guess is that they are padding with their own 5 star reviews to drown out the complaints. Last time I deal with ANY Insignia product!

One thing after another

However its day 3 of using it and the unit is now leaking water. Cant win with this brand!!

It was noisy and made this odd wheezing noise. I read the instructions and it said the noise would die down, nope! It did not. Then the wheezing noise started & never stopped. Afterwards, it would turn on and off within 10 seconds. Not even a minute would pass. I know dehumidifiers are noisy but that wheezing noise was NOT normal. Maybe it was used before but when I received it, the box was partily opened and looked as if FedEx had knocked it around a bit. I’ve never had buyers remorse until I tried this dehumidifier.
